Chapter 199: Chapter 64: You Seem to Be Very Good at Gaining Women’s Favor

"So to save Michael," Xi Mu raised a hand to his forehead, speaking helplessly, "we must have a talk with the God of Fear."

"The God of Fear is not someone you can simply communicate with." Mist shook her head slightly upon hearing this, unwilling to let Ahtal confront the God of Fear alone.

About the God of Fear, there isn’t much of any positive records.

It’s clearly recorded in history that the moment the God of Fear descended upon the Kingdom of Suzuran, the entire land became the most terrifying place in the world. People’s deepest fears materialized: vampires, zombies, ghouls, serial killers, and other terrifying things roamed the streets in droves.

Thousands of bizarre dominators, sources of fear, and other such frightening titles were all used to refer to the God of Fear.

In response,

"How can we know without trying?" Xi Mu smiled, looking over at the cloak-wearing girl beside him, and asked:

"Eden, do you know where the God of Fear is?"

"..." Eden didn’t respond, but instead cast her gaze toward the castle atop the distant snowy mountain, where the God of Fear resided.

"Then you all wait here for me." Xi Mu mounted his horse, planning to go directly to the castle to meet the God of Fear.

"I want to come too." Mist spoke up, her voice very earnest, and Xi Mu laughed upon hearing this, saying:

"It’s safer if I go alone."

"..."

Mist frowned. She didn’t believe Ahtal’s words; facing the entity known as the source of fear, the God of Fear alone was by no means safe.

With her by Ahtal’s side, even if they truly encountered danger, she could help delay for time, giving Ahtal a chance to flee.

Not to be toyed with by the God of Fear.

"Ahtal has the favor of the Goddess of Life." Eden’s voice was gentle, "The God of Fear wouldn’t just kill him casually."

Mist fell silent.

Having the favor of the Goddess of Life was essentially the same as having a powerful backing, at least when facing other deities, one could be much safer.

But she had no favor from any deity. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

So if she were to follow, she would indeed be a drag and a source of trouble, and she might even put Ahtal in danger.

"I’ll be right back." Xi Mu waved his hand and rode his mare out of sight.

And at that moment,

"Heehee. Am I pretty?" A pleasant female voice suddenly rang out. Mist looked toward the source of the sound and saw a woman limping toward her, dressed in a white gown with a mask.

Mist didn’t respond; her hand on the hilt of her blade, and in an instant, the sword flashed, decapitating the woman in white and causing the body to collapse.

"Strange?" She shook her long sword and cast her eyes around to see different representations of people’s fears slowly approaching her.

Among them, there were false monsters concocted by wandering poets and also monsters with real-world prototypes, countless in variety.

But that was merely all they were—numerous.

The swordlight cut through the void as if there were countless threads aiming to stitch heaven and earth together. The fleeting swordlight accurately chopped all nearby horror stories to pieces.

...

...

Meanwhile,

On the other side,

Near the castle,

The sky suddenly darkened, the sun suspended in the sky was blotted out, the light that fell was tinged with the crimson of fresh blood. The trees lining the road seemed to come to life, turning into distorted humans stretching out their hands to the sky in despair.

The strange giggles and whispers, along with the malicious gaze falling from nowhere, were all indicative of the danger of this place.

This was the God of Fear, who, whenever it visited a place inhabited by people, would twist reality into the most terrifying hell.

However, Xi Mu didn’t react much to it, just finding this gloomy color and the emphasized sense of horror... boring.

If he were a novice player, he might find the scene scary, but after playing through it a few times, one wouldn’t think too much of it, focusing only on navigating the map.

After dismounting,

Xi Mu approached the gate, looking at the ghastly figure in a suit and said, "I wish to see the God of Fear."

"Aren’t you afraid of me?" The man grinned, revealing vampire fangs, then he saw the Knight, brandishing the Great Sword of Death against his neck.

No nonsense.

Xi Mu didn’t speak, but his eyes clearly conveyed this intent.

"As a Knight, try not to kill so much," the man said, carefully pushing away the Great Sword of Death with his finger.

Then he pointed towards the open gate.

"I have no idea where the God of Fear is, but you can have the head maid take you to see the deity."

"..."

Xi Mu walked straight in and saw a headless maid approaching. She carried with one hand a birdcage containing her head, moving with a composed and elegant gait.

The maid came before Xi Mu, raised the birdcage with her head in it to meet Xi Mu’s gaze.

"Eyes without fear," the head inside the cage spoke, "Are you mentally unwell?"

Xi Mu responded with surprise, "Shouldn’t you be praising my courage?"

"To endure fear, that’s called courage," the maid turned and led Xi Mu forward while explaining:

"If a person has no fear, it can’t be called courage, but rather a psychological defect, needing medical attention."

"Perhaps you are not fearsome enough to make me feel afraid," Xi Mu chuckled lightly, causing the guiding maid to show a dissatisfied expression.

"Are you trying to say I’m not scary enough?"

"More precisely, pretty," Xi Mu added, not scared of the headless maid and even finding her to be a somewhat attractive character. This was not to say the headless maid had some unique personal charm.
