After work, start to speedrun the other world-Chapter 177 - 53 Instigation_2
Xi Mu nodded, looking towards the banquet hall, "I still have matters to attend to, you... go back first."
"Okay." Letixia nodded slightly, obediently departing, but before she left, she said something to Ahtal.
"Take care."
"..."
Xi Mu smiled and nodded, watching Letixia leave, then turned and entered the banquet hall.
...
...
Outside the hotel.
The royal carriage departed.
"..." Yasiraqi looked out the window at the receding scenery, her red eyes reflecting the vista of Sky City.
After a moment, a sudden thought struck her.
"Jed, do you think Ahtal and I are suitable?" she turned and asked Jed, who was inside the carriage.
The atmosphere fell silent.
Jed froze, looking at Yasiraqi’s serious expression, she clearly remembered Yasiraqi saying she would never... steal her best friend’s boyfriend.
They had discussed this matter in private. Since Ahtal was in a relationship with Letixia, she would not intrude.
"I... don’t know about that kind of thing," Jed scratched her cheek, her voice somewhat elusive, "I am just a... mercenary, I don’t understand love."
"Just asking," Yasiraqi explained, "After all, Ahtal has been infected with Sulter’s Fire and can no longer be with Letixia..."
Before she could finish, she felt something was amiss and then fell into a state of self-loathing.
The carriage moved on, the scenery outside the window sliding past like filmstrips, but Yasiraqi and Jed were no longer interested in admiring the bustling beauty.
The silence inside the carriage was somewhat... eerie.
Meanwhile.
In the banquet hall.
"..." Xi Mu emerged alone, surveying his surroundings. Realizing he was being watched, he headed towards a secluded corner.
As he moved further and further away, until reaching a desolate road, he was stopped by a woman... no, a Dragon Mother.
"Ahtal, right." The Dragon Mother’s tall figure approached him step by step, her blue hair billowing in the evening breeze, casting a long shadow under the streetlight that completely covered Xi Mu’s figure.
She stood before Xi Mu, looking down at him.
"Do you... know the Magic to seize Dragon power?"
"I do," Xi Mu answered promptly, causing even the Dragon Mother to pause. Wasn’t he supposed to deny it first and then, under her coercion, spill the truth?
Why would he admit it outright?
"So, what do you plan to do next?" Xi Mu continued, "Are you thinking of killing me, or forcing me to give up the Magic?"
Dragon Mother: "..."
Attacking Ahtal now would provoke Siegfried’s pursuit; after all, the current Siegfried hadn’t turned into an evil dragon and still retained human rationality along with formidable combat skills.
Killing her would be very... easy.
"You came to find me without even thinking?" Xi Mu shook his head, smiling at the Dragon Mother, "If I were you, I’d find someone who can read minds to browse through my memories, to confirm how many people know about the Magic to seize Dragon power."
He leaned in close to the Dragon Mother’s ear.
"I assume you don’t need me to teach you the subsequent steps, find all the people who can seize the power of the Dragon, then kill them one by one, or erase their memories."
Dragon Mother: "..."
"Solving problems requires... using your brain," Xi Mu raised his hand and tapped his head, "Do you know the most foolproof way to solve a problem?"
"How should we solve this?" the mother dragon inquired, her gaze turning dangerous before she received an answer.
"Of course, it is best to have the concerned party voluntarily cooperate," Xi Mu explained, "If I can voluntarily cooperate with your memory reading, wouldn’t we be able to find all those who are aware of how to seize the power of dragons?"
It seemed that was indeed correct.
The mother dragon nodded, if Ahtal willingly allowed his memory to be read, that truly would be the safest method.
"Then how would you have me voluntarily cooperate?" Xi Mu gradually progressed, explaining under the gaze of the mother dragon, "Promising to spare Sky City would naturally be the best choice."
He smiled slightly.
"After you kill Siegfried, with my voluntary cooperation, you could ensure no one else learns the magic to seize the power of dragons."
"Hmph, why should I believe you?" the mother dragon scoffed, though she began to waver, obviously finding Ahtal’s words reasonable.
Xi Mu gave her an explanation.
"We have no other choice, do we?"
"You are indeed a clever fellow," the mother dragon nodded. She was not a dragon that slaughtered without cause, being an Ice Dragon her heart was unexpectedly... soft.
If she could kill less, she naturally would be willing to do so.
"So you know what you must do next," Xi Mu maintained a gentle smile, "To ensure the magic to seize the power of dragons doesn’t leak, you must kill Siegfried as quickly as possible, making sure he does not spread the magic far and wide."
The mother dragon furrowed her brow, expressing her concern, "But if we attack Siegfried now, it could very well lead to casualties."
A rational Siegfried was very dangerous, whereas a Siegfried that had turned into an irrational and evil dragon was easier to kill.
"The longer we delay, the more likely Siegfried... might spread the magic to take the power of dragons," Xi Mu shook his head, "Choosing to act now is the most appropriate time."
He had no intention of honestly waiting for Siegfried to transform into a dragon, to incite some giant dragons to march to their deaths, allowing Siegfried to seize more of the power of dragons, thus increasing his strength for more experience points, and also making Siegfried turn into an evil dragon sooner, so that he could swiftly put Siegfried to death.
"Wasn’t Siegfried your teacher?" the mother dragon became entangled in some seemingly trivial matters, "Why would you wish to kill him ahead of time?"
"Do I... have a choice?" Xi Mu asked in return, "If I don’t kill Siegfried prematurely, wouldn’t you also not spare Sky City?"
It seemed that was indeed correct.
The mother dragon fell silent for a moment, then posed another question, "How am I to trust your promise?"
"On the contrary... I’m the one who should hope you keep your word," Xi Mu waved his hand with a wry smile, "If you go back on your word afterward, there’s nothing I can do to you."
"As the daughter of a Duke, I have no need to deceive a human like you," the mother dragon scoffed, then, driven by curiosity, she inquired, "Since you’ve sought negotiation with Yimar, you must have discussed these matters with him, right?"
Xi Mu remained silent.
Seeing this, the mother dragon nodded as if guessing the outcome of the negotiation, and said, "That sadist refused your plan, didn’t he?"
"So, what is your answer?" Xi Mu asked, watching as the mother dragon fell into thought, he waited patiently.
This mother dragon, within the Dragon Kingdom, actually held a higher status than Yimar, after all, she was the Duke’s sole daughter, whereas Yimar was merely one of the twelve princes, and a prince without much real power at that.
Furthermore, the title of Dragon King, which was not hereditary but a symbol of the strongest dragon, made the prince’s worth even lower.
Hence, the mother dragon’s words carried more weight.
"Agreed," the mother dragon flicked her blue hair away from her ear, agreeably accepting, and Xi Mu smiled in response, extending his hand towards the mother dragon.
"Then, let’s enjoy a fruitful collaboration."
"I hate you schemers and plotters," the mother dragon muttered in displeasure, but still shook hands with Ahtal.
She felt there was no reason for Ahtal to lie to her, at present Ahtal’s words indeed seemed like the best outcome for Sky City.
"So we’ll take action tomorrow?" Xi Mu seemed somewhat impatient, yet the mother dragon shook her head and explained to him:
"We need the approval of that guy Yimar."
"I hope you can take action quickly," Xi Mu sighed and walked past the mother dragon towards a brightly lit residence in the distance.
The mother dragon, seeing this, did not leave but instead followed out of curiosity, "Human, what are you intending to do?"
"To visit my teacher."
