Chapter 130: Chapter 30: Proof of the Continuation of Life_2

...

...

Blood splattered, staining the walls of the alley.

A dwarf’s corpse lay on the ground.

Xi Mu shook the blood off the Hunting King’s Greatsword, then crouched down to touch the dwarf assassin’s body, burning it to ashes with the Flame of Death.

"The dwarves wanting to kill you... sure are plenty," came a charming female voice. Xi Mu looked towards the source and saw a mature woman with golden short hair, dressed in an elegant purple gown, walking slowly towards him.

After approaching a certain distance, she stopped. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

The woman was forcibly maintaining her composure, but she couldn’t hide her... fear; she didn’t dare get too close.

"It’s quite normal for the followers of the Dusk Cult to want me dead," Xi Mu said casually, recognizing the woman as the eldest princess of Gear City, with the bloodline of the immortal serpent.

Her level was close to eighty, which made her a decent experience pack.

"After all, you ruined the Dusk Cult’s plans," the mature woman nodded, carefully observing Xi Mu’s expression to confirm that this man didn’t seem to intend to draw his sword and kill her on the spot.

She moved closer to Xi Mu, one graceful step at a time.

"Lord Ahtal, I wish to collaborate with you," she stated succinctly, going straight to the point, "You help me kill off the competitors for the throne, and I will share the power with you."

"Including Nalis?" Xi Mu asked in return, his palm caressing the Hunting King’s Greatsword as black flames rose with it.

He sized up the woman opposite him. Standing at nearly 1.8 meters tall, she was considered a giant amongst her dwarf kin.

Among the dwarves, she was a rarity within rarities.

However, it was no surprise once one remembered that she was a half-blood dwarf with the bloodline of the immortal serpent.

Seeing his reaction, the woman instead showed a relieved expression, understanding that this man indeed had a favorable impression of Nalis, which is why he hadn’t revealed the fact that Nalis possessed the blood of the immortal serpent.

This also meant that no one would know she was a half-blooded dwarf.

"It seems Lord Ahtal is quite familiar with me," the mature woman smiled playfully, her hand resting on her ample bosom, "But I think I should still introduce myself."

Her expression turned serious.

"Nashatani, the eldest daughter of Sora."

"..." Xi Mu nodded indifferently, well aware of Nashatani, the woman before him. If operating normally in the Gear City instance, one would inevitably interact with her and gradually unravel the city’s mysterious aspects.

After raising Nashatani’s favorability to a certain level, one could opt into the rebel’s side quest and wipe out all of Nashatani’s blood kin.

And once Nashatani became the queen of Gear City, she would immediately turn the tables on the player and attempt to kill them as well.

However, if a player made proper preparations in advance, or met specific conditions, such as having a reliable backer, then Nashatani would pretend to be gentle and virtuous, utterly obedient to the player.

Had the game’s official creators not been so virginal, one could even experience the full embrace of the serpent woman.

"I’m not interested in cooperating with a half-blood," Xi Mu shook his head, seemingly intending to leave, though it was just an act.

After all, the offspring of the immortal serpent had a minimum level of sixty, making them a decent experience pack, worth his time to kill.

Moreover, he needed to use Nashatani to help him seal off the branches of the Dusk Cult.

"If the struggle for the throne cannot end in the shortest time," Nashatani spoke calmly, "sooner or later, someone will reveal the fact that Nalis is a half-blood."

Xi Mu frowned, pretending to ponder.

Seeing his hesitation, Nashatani quickly continued to persuade, "Only if the struggle for power is settled quickly can Nalis be safe."

"You do have a point," Xi Mu’s tone became strange, his eyes narrowing as he looked at Nashatani, his gaze sizing her up as if considering where to strike.

Nashatani subconsciously stepped back, saying coolly, "With the naïveté of Nalis’s heart, she lacks the ability to govern Gear City."

She urged.

"Only I can guarantee a carefree life for Nalis."

"Fine," Xi Mu nodded, "Lure them here tonight, and I will take them out personally."

"Then, a pleasant cooperation," Nashatani smiled charmingly, her heart finally settling down, and then she heard Xi Mu ask.

"After it’s done, you won’t plan to eliminate both me and Nalis, will you?" Xi Mu suddenly asked.

To this, Nashatani showed a resigned expression.

"Your teacher is Hecate, after all. If one day you met an ’accidental’ death, do you think Hecate wouldn’t investigate?"

If there were a chance to kill Ahtal without revealing her half-blood status, of course, she wouldn’t hesitate.

But with Ahtal backed by Hecate, if she dared to kill Xi Mu, she would face Hecate’s retaliation.

She obviously would not dare to do that.

"It sure is useful to have a teacher like that," Xi Mu laughed, then left under Nashatani’s watchful eye.

According to the game officials’ setting, the pinnacle level for humans was ninety-nine; after which the levels would transcend the realm of humanity.

However, this didn’t mean that the strong who stand at the same pinnacle of humanity possess equivalent strength; it also depended on the differences in ability "mechanics."

And these so-called differences in mechanics, often come from awakened abilities; an ability that dictates the routes of fate as compared to an ability to roll one’s eyes and look at one’s own brain, was clearly not on the same level.
