Chapter 1910: End of the Papell-Ferrol War

The best (or worst, depending on which side you are) part of this dwarven weapon was that it could be used indefinitely.

The enemy could literally just roll out randomly prepared elementalist rocks from the array. Even normal rocks would do, but the penetration effect would be much less. The magic of each projectile was granted by the dwarven trebuchet itself.

It was also why half of the Ferrol powerhouses went to disable it, with most of the remaining minimizing the damage of the projectiles.

The battle around the trebuchet was quite bloody, and several appendages from both sides had already been obliterated.

Explosion of techniques and elements resounded in that area, and early on, blood was already spilling. The place was littered with collateral damage, and people (except slaves) below level 20 didn’t dare help out, just heading towards the wall.

Going against the sentries and the people guarding the walls was far safer than being there!

Tibay, the Ferrol General, summoned large earth spikes, targeting both his enemy (his team roughly battles an enemy powerhouse each) and attempting to at least imbalance the trebuchet.

Tibay was beyond the level cap, so he could only target those like him, specifically, or the weapon itself.

Sadly, while the enemy was hit and gasping, the trebuchet was still guarded by a dedicated powerhouse, neutralising its attack before it could reach the dwarven weapon.

Bang!

Bang!

It didn’t look like their side was winning in that area, and that battle would continue even until the enemy’s tens of thousands of fighters reached the walls and went through the breaches.

This wasn’t the end, they knew. Level 3 town’s populations could reach several hundred thousand, if not a million, already.

And since the war required the attacking territory to have a portion of the population go through the array, then it was expected that the enemy still had hundreds of thousands to mobilize. And indeed, the enemies were still continuously pouring out of the arrays.

The enemies continued to push on, defending against the shower of arrows with their equipment. Even slaves were fully equipped, just as they should.

Towns wouldn’t reach their levels because they lacked resources, after all.

There were also scores of level 40 and peak level 30s appearing, adding pressure to those in the trebuchet area.

Tibay and the rest had no choice but to run back; otherwise, they’d be mobbed. With enough strength and stamina, this was no problem because they were powerhouses. But if given enough time, they could succumb once they really got surrounded.

Tibay’s team immediately rushed back. Unexpectedly, while running, Tibay turned around, taking in several attacks directly at him.

Perhaps he was protected by superior equipment (and perhaps a few protective charms bought from Alterra), he was minimally injured and had the time to send out a final attack, which took advantage of the enemy’s momentary overconfidence because their side was being pushed back.

This time, he really timed it well.

He pushed one of the troublesome enemies using an earth spike, smacking right in front of the projectile. This caused the projectile—which was about to shoot—to get imbalanced and drop right at the location.

BOOM!

"AHHH!"

This not only injured several people there, but it also created a small indentation on the ground, causing the trebuchet to get imbalanced.

"Whoa."

As people from Level 3 Town, they did have some Setting up a dwarven trebuchet was not simple. It wouldn’t get destroyed easily, yes, and if it got pulled out of its hole and set up, it could get used again.

However, once the sensitive components were moved or adjusted, it required quite a bit of time to gather energy again. Hopefully, the war would’ve ended by then.

The Alterrans watching nodded in approval. To be fair, they did wonder how Ferrol handled things before Alterra arrived. They were fairly rich, and hadn’t been in a war for a decade or so, so they wondered if they had lost their battle touch.

However, they were still relatively peaceful during wars. No looting and not many breaches appeared, and when there were breaches, they would be dealt with (the Gold’s team also guarded a sector). Compared even to Twinwave, the streets of Ferrol were really safe.

Tibay showed the reason why. The military strength was capable and loyal. Jonathan’s father really set things up well for him.

It was still a disappointment that there was a rather big hole created on the wall before the trebuchet was taken down.

The enemies entered through the gap, while others went over. Many were blocked by the powerhouses, but there were still more and more leaks, especially since a lot of people had to concentrate on the hole.

Similarly, the enemy powerhouses had also joined in the battle on the walls, protecting their people and catching sentry arrows despite being unable to attack themselves.

It was really chaotic, and soon it looked like mini meteors passed by several places, leaving bloodied bodies behind. In terms of the strength of their people, Ferrol was superior, but not by much. The enemy definitely tilted it in their direction with the dwarven weapons.

However, they weren’t the only ones with some secret weapons!

...

Smoke spread out near the entrance of the breach and was further kept in place by two or three wind users.

This was none other than Alterra’s special poisons (purchased by Ferrol).

The poison that could affect people above level 30 and even level 40 was not easy to make, and they didn’t have a lot of stock. Naturally, they had to choose the best time to use it.

Rather than throw it on the crowd with a lot of cannon fodder and an open area that could disperse the smoke (and also be easier to deal with once detected), they chose to use it now, when they were funneled. This way, people had a lot of blindspots, and were unable to react fast enough.

The well-positioned wind users just had to control the wind so it didn’t disperse too quickly, as well as keep it from spreading to their own people.

When people started falling down in droves, and even the powerhouses were feeling a horrid headache, it finally alarmed people that this was not a normal smoke.

At their levels, they had never worried about being poisoned. Now, it seemed like they had overestimated themselves!

"Don’t breathe it!" he yelled. Some tried to escape, but they were kicked down, while others just fainted before succeeding. Those at the back were also affected, and it even triggered a stampede that ultimately broke a lot of bones.

People trying to enter immediately became afraid, and some actively avoided the breach.

Trying to avoid, trying to find another way in...the duration of war just ended like this.
