Chapter 29: Chapter 29 Not Too Dumb

The elevator doors opened, and two girls walked out together; it seemed that a few young men and women waiting in the corridor had also passed the preliminary selection like them.

"Which one of you is Luo Xiaoqian?" a staff member holding a stack of documents walked out from the room.

"I am!" Luo Xiaoqian hurriedly responded.

"Take this document, go to the 19th floor, room 1901!" The person immediately came over and handed the form to her.

"Me? Go by myself?!" Luo Xiaoqian was somewhat puzzled, considering that everyone else was still here, why was she the only one being asked to go up.

"This is the company’s arrangement, you’ll naturally understand once you get there!" The staffer turned and walked away.

"Then I’ll go up and take a look!" Saying goodbye to Xu Xia, Luo Xiaoqian reentered the elevator and headed straight to the 19th floor.

In the corridor, all was silent except for the buzzing noise of the fluorescent lights.

Right in front of the elevator, on the transparent glass door, was a gold embossed sign—1901.

She approached with curiosity, and as soon as she got closer, the glass doors automatically slid open.

Luo Xiaoqian felt inexplicably guilty as she stepped through the glass door and looked around the empty lobby, "Is anyone there?"

The only response was her own echo.

Noticing the sound of music coming from behind a slightly ajar door nearby, Luo Xiaoqian steadied her nerves and mustered the courage to approach it.

She knocked on the door, but no one answered.

The door gently opened.

As she walked in, she found herself in an enormous office filled with shelves of records ranging from the original vinyls to CDs, complete and extensive.

On the wall was a huge screen and what appeared to be high-end speakers.

Behind a black office desk, a high-backed chair was turned away from her, the outline of arms resting on the chair back barely visible.

"Hello!" Luo Xiaoqian approached the desk, "My name is Luo Xiaoqian, an upstairs staffer told me to bring this up!"

The high-backed chair slowly turned.

Such an office was clearly the domain of the highest levels of EM Record Company; this person must be the president of EM Records, she thought.

This man, who had amassed great wealth as if airdropped by the Heavenly God, creating such a large company—what sort of person could he be?!

Luo Xiaoqian’s eyes widened with curiosity.

The high-backed chair faced her, and sitting on the chair, someone was holding a sheet of music.

The sheet of music was slowly lowered to reveal the person’s face, as handsome as a Heavenly God—it was none other than Leng Zimo, the man she never wanted to see again.

In shock, then in a daze, Luo Xiaoqian turned and ran.

Leng Zimo slowly stood up.

She rushed out of his office to the glass doors; the same doors that had opened automatically before wouldn’t budge no matter how much she pushed or kicked them.

Turning around and leaning against the glass door, she watched Leng Zimo step by step approach, while Luo Xiaoqian nervously clutched the document in her hand.

"What... what are you trying to do?"

Stopping in front of her, Leng Zimo lifted a hand and leaned it against the glass door by her head, "What do you think?"

Luo Xiaoqian was no fool; despite her nervousness, she had already figured out the convoluted situation.

"You... you did this on purpose, didn’t you?" 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

She knew it; there was no such thing as pie falling from the sky. So-called interest in her talent was just him drawing a circle for her to jump through.

Leng Zimo, how cunning! This man, she thought.

Leng Zimo lifted a hand to pinch her chin, "Not completely dumb, are you?"

Feeling the warm touch of his fingers, Luo Xiaoqian’s entire body bristled with nerves, and she licked her lips subconsciously, "Don’t mess around, or I..."

She never got to finish her sentence because his lips had already domineeringly sealed hers.
