I was shocked for a moment when Darren kissed my full lips, licking and coaxing me to open my mouth to him.

His lips moved against mine. Skimming. Licking. Barely touching.

My pulse raced and I shivered slightly.

His lips were soft. Enticingly soft. He leaned closer, rubbing his lips over my small mouth and nibbling on my lip.

I was frozen on my seat but I didn’t pull away, neither did I push him away from me. He had told me not to so I forced myself to remain calm.

He pulled away from the kiss leaving me out of breath and at a loss for words.

He didn’t look as flustered as I was and if anything, he looked very organized unlike me who was fighting the urge not to pass out in front of him any minute from now.

I knew why he kissed me. He did it to clear their doubts and prove to my parents that whatever they might have heard about us yesterday was nothing but the truth but the way he did it was what I never expected.

"I’m sorry." He apologized in a low voice. "I never meant to scare you like that. I just had to do it because they were watching us."

He explained, his eyes gliding over my shoulders to stare at my family subtly before meeting mine again.

I blinked furiously, cutting him off halfway through his statement. "It’s okay. You did it for the right reasons and besides, it was part of the contract so I don’t mind. I’ll be going now."

I said to him and after giving clear instructions to his driver, he got down from the car and opened up the door for me.

"Don’t forget to call me alright?" He said with a smile and I nodded my head at his request before waving him goodbye.

I waited for him to drive out of our building and as soon as he left, I turned around to make my way into the mansion but was stopped halfway by my angry stepmother and my furious stepsister, Celyn.

I was fighting the urge not to laugh even though the situation looked pretty funny right now.

"Where are you coming from you stupid peasant!?" She spat angrily. Her eyes glowing in rage as she uttered those words to me.

It felt refreshing seeing her this way and to think that she had made me feel this way years ago. Karma never forgets her address.

"My mother asked you a question, Kalia." Came Celyn’s desperate and irritated voice. She was pissed and it definitely shows.

"Where the fuck did you go and why did the Alpha’s first son drive you back home?" She screamed at me and almost attacked me but her mother refrained her from doing so.

I tucked a strand of my hair backwards and faced them squarely. "I’m pretty sure you know the answer to that question already so whatever I will say wouldn’t really make you feel any better would it? unless you still want me to say it?"

"W-What did you just say?" She stuttered, enraged. She looked at me as if she would murder me any minute from now.

"I spent the night at his house so he drove me back home this morning." I said conversionally.

"Didn’t you just see us share a kiss a while ago? I never presumed that you were blind Celyn so I’m pretty sure your eyes saw everything before I walked down here."

"Darren and I are dating." I said with a shrug. "And I didn’t think it was wrong to spend the night at his house. After all, you’ve been spending many nights at Callum’s house so I want to experience how it feels like to do so."

She scoffed. "Wow Kalia, couldn’t you have done better? I expected so much from you considering the fact that you called off your marriage but who would’ve thought that you’re still that naive girl desperate for love and attention."

"I never believed that you would go as far as screwing Callum’s brother days after calling off your marriage."

"Since when did you become a whore?" My stepmother questioned. I glanced at my father in hopes that he would at least say something or come to my rescue but he remained quiet.

I have always known that no matter what happens, he would always choose them over me. He would always side with them so it’s pointless to hope.

"You’re not going to say anything?" My voice came out provoked and vexed at his silence to all their accusations towards me.

"Are you really just going to stand there and watch them insult me? Is that it? You’re not even going to try to reprimand them?"

"What more can I say other than the fact that you are a disgrace to my family, Kalia?" His hostile voice cut through my heart like a sharp edged sword but I never expected anything less.

"You knew that my daughter was about to be introduced to the Alpha’s son. You know that we have made the necessary arrangements for her marriage and yet decided to bring such misfortune into our home by hooking up with your ex’s brother. What stunts are you trying to play exactly?" He ranted furiously.

"I have done everything in my power to raise you as my child even though you aren’t. I have given you my name to bear even when I know that you never deserved it." He went on.

"I took care of you to the best of my ability and this is how you choose to repay me? By ruining my family? A worthless Omega like you?"

I clenched my fists tightly beside me. I was infuriated and seethed in anger. He was listing them as though he had done me a favor.

He was my father for crying out loud. Was he expecting a medal for taking care of me?

"This is exactly how your mother dumped you on me to ruin my marriage and I can’t believe that you’re about to do the same thing to your sister." He chided me in a disappointing yet condescending tone.

"And how is it my fault? You never once showed me that you cared for me even after everything I sacrificed for this family." I reminded him.

"If my mother was the problem then you shouldn’t have taken it upon yourself to raise me when I wasn’t even your daughter to begin with. Your daughter had an affair with my fiance. She ruined—" 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

My words were cut off when he slapped me hard across my cheeks. I whipped my head at him in shock.

My father had never raised his hands at me and this just proves that he had been holding back all along.

"And what about that?" He started. "The Alpha’s son chose her. They never chose you. They never wanted you just like I never wanted you as well."

"You forced your way into Callum’s life just like you forced your way into mine and now you want to make the same mistake again with his brother?"

I laughed. An empty one. "That’s the thing father. Callum never wanted me. You never wanted me and so did everyone but Darren wants me and he wants to get married to me. He’s in love with me. Ironic isn’t?"

"His family will never accept you." Celyn glared at me as she spoke. "They will never allow you into their household let alone allow you to become the Luna of their pack."

"They will do everything in their power to break the two of you apart so you’d better step back now while you still have time."

"Does it hurt?" I asked her, a little smirk playing on my lips as hers curled up in anger.

"It hurts doesn’t it? It hurts to know that there might be a possibility of me taking the place you’ve always wanted in the park and empire doesn’t it?" I asked and I noticed how her countenance dropped drastically.

"Isn’t that the reason why you decided to sleep with Callum?" I asked but she didn’t respond.

"You did it because you wanted to end up as the true Luna but now it doesn’t seem like your plan is working out for you the way you want it, does it?"

"You’re scared because even if you don’t want to admit it, you know for a fact that Darren is loved by his father and that he is the Alpha’s true son so I might actually be accepted, am I right?"

Plopping my hands beside me, I bridged the gap between us so that we are only inches apart. "I want you to remember this look on your face today, Celyn."

"This look of fear that is making you question everything you believe and have worked hard for right now because this look is going to be your new mask from today henceforth."

"This look is going to be your nightmare and everytime you see me, you would always be reminded of this look because I will never let it leave your face, forever." I whispered and pulled away.

She staggered a bit but was able to regain her balance so that she doesn’t fall.

"Darren will be coming to perform the rites to our marriage with his parents very soon after everything is finalized between us so please welcome him with open arms."

"And do everything you can to make my marriage a success just like you would do for your daughter, Celyn. You owe me that much after ruining my life for years." I informed them while they looked at me as if I had grown a second pair of head.

"And please Celyn, be a good sister on my behalf too." I continued.

"I don’t want people to think that you’re jealous of my man or of me becoming the true Luna which is why you’re angry so try your best to put up a smile, okay?"

I made to leave but stopped halfway as though I’ve forgotten something. "By the way, Darren might be picking me up to spend the night at his place so do let him in when he arrives."

"Thank you." I smiled at them before making my way into the house. Phase one is officially in motion. They haven’t seen the last of me, yet.
