After ONS: Trapped by the Cunning Professor-Chapter 457 - 458: Going to the Hospital for Something
The originally planned dinner was disrupted by an unexpected phone call.
Lou Xi changed out of the fairy-themed dress she had just put on, and back into her previous T-shirt and long skirt, then came downstairs with Qin Mobai.
Bai Lu and Lu Li, along with a group of waitstaff, were waiting downstairs, but seeing that Lou Xi hadn’t changed into her dress, they couldn’t help but find it odd.
What was even stranger was the tense and worried expressions simultaneously appearing on Qin Mobai and Lou Xi’s faces.
"What’s going on?" Lu Li asked. Weren’t they supposed to change into formal clothes and attend the dinner tonight? Why the worried look instead of changing clothes?
"The dinner is canceled. Lou Xi and I have something to deal with at the hospital first." Qin Mobai briefly explained.
"Why the hospital? Is something wrong?" Bai Lu was concerned about Lou Xi, but Lou Xi seemed perfectly healthy with no signs of injury!
"We’ll talk about it later."
There was no time to elaborate, so Qin Mobai led Lou Xi outside.
Of course, Lu Li and Bai Lu couldn’t stay behind any longer, nor were they in the mood for dinner, so they followed Qin Mobai and Lou Xi out.
The driver drove, with Qin Mobai and Lou Xi in the backseat.
Throughout the ride, Qin Mobai held Lou Xi’s hand, feeling the tension and worry emanating from deep within her.
Lou Xi was the type of person described as having a sharp tongue but a soft heart.
On the surface, she didn’t forgive Shen Youran, unwilling to interact much with her.
Yet inside, she had rehearsed the mother-daughter reunion countless times. As soon as she heard Shen Youran was ill, she became anxious, dropping all her defenses.
She was cold, yet warm.

"Ms. Shen will be fine, don’t worry," Qin Mobai comforted Lou Xi. "Ji Mushen won’t let anything happen to her."
In recent days, Qin Mobai had investigated the matters between Shen Youran and Ji Mushen, finding out that Ji Mushen had been cherishing Shen Youran like a treasure all these years.
Ji Mushen’s protection of Shen Youran was unimaginable to others, which was why the Shen Family couldn’t find any news about Shen Youran for so long!
"I’m not worried," Lou Xi said lightly, but her eyes betrayed her calm tone.
She wasn’t someone who lied.
Qin Mobai didn’t push her further, deciding to wait until they saw Shen Youran.
The car soon arrived at the hospital, where Ji Mushen’s secretary was already waiting at the entrance for them.
"What’s the situation?" Qin Mobai asked, on Lou Xi’s behalf.
The secretary glanced at Lou Xi, then her gaze returned to Qin Mobai.
"The chairman’s wife didn’t want the chairman to tell you about her illness, but the chairman felt you had the right to know." The secretary paused, "It’s just been confirmed that the chairman’s wife has acute hepatic dysfunction."
It sounded like a complicated illness, so Lou Xi asked, "How should it be treated?"
The secretary didn’t continue, but Qin Mobai seemed to already have an answer.
He held Lou Xi’s hand and stopped moving forward.
Qin Mobai’s sudden pause puzzled both the secretary and Lou Xi.
Qin Mobai simply said, "You go ahead first. Lou Xi and I will follow shortly."
The secretary glanced at Qin Mobai, reading the decisiveness in his eyes, and had to leave first.
After the secretary left, Lou Xi turned to look at Qin Mobai, "Why aren’t we going up together?" Wasn’t Qin Mobai always creating opportunities for her and Shen Youran?
"Lou Xi, no one can force you to do anything you don’t want to do, not even me," Qin Mobai said. "If you don’t want to go in, I’ll take you away right now."
