After my divorce, I started to have good luck-Chapter 1144 - 602: Unwilling to Give In
Chen Feng told Hong Xiaodan there was something going on at the company, which wasn't entirely a lie.
Previously, Wu Mengting had sent him a message saying that "Good Things Elite" was officially starting production, and the entire crew meeting would be held at the company today.
Wu Mengting herself wasn't very optimistic about this project, feeling the script wasn't polished enough. But with just a few million in investment costs, Lu Sijia insisted on starting filming, and Chen Feng had no objection; her opposition would be useless.
The script for this drama was written by Zhang Kewei and could be considered excellent, but he didn't go to Fengmang Film and Television Company today.
Now, the crew has been successfully formed, with the director, actors, and staff all recruited, totaling more than thirty people. The formal meeting was held at Fengmang Film and Television Company in the afternoon.
Originally, Chen Feng, being a hands-off boss, could skip the meeting, but Wu Mengting suggested it would be good to make an appearance in front of the crew, as many of the staff were newly recruited by the company.
Chen Feng, currently leaving Bibo Garden and heading to Red Villa Bay, passed by the company, so there was no reason not to stop by. After all, there wasn't much else to do.
Thus, Chen Feng drove by the company and met the entire "Good Things Elite" crew in the large conference room.
The scale of the crew isn't very large; actors and staff combined are just over thirty people.
The director is a hire from outside, specially invited by Lu Sijia, a young director in his thirties with a beard, wearing glasses, with a very artistic flair.
Among the lead actors, the male lead is an artist the company signed first, in his thirties, looking somewhat handsome, formally trained, previously acted in stage plays; the first female lead is Jiang Shumin, who has quite a lot of scenes; Chen Feng was unexpectedly surprised to find the second female lead went to Han Shipei, which he hadn't anticipated at all.
Han Shipei hadn't studied acting before and previously came to Fengmang Film and Television merely to serve as a public relations lady accompanying Wu Mengting or Lu Sijia to negotiations and social engagements.
Yet, she suddenly transitioned into a bona fide second female lead in the "Good Things Elite" crew, and Chen Feng knew nothing of it beforehand.
He didn't know how Han Shipei suddenly switched careers to acting, nor why Lu Sijia made her the second female lead. With so many people present, it was hard to ask, so he temporarily set aside the curiosity.
The other four main actors were recruited from outside.
Chen Feng, as the boss of Fengmang Film and Television, naturally gave a speech, which was a necessary formality, and he casually uttered some standard platitudes.
First, congratulations to the "Good Things Elite" crew for its official formation, then extending care and regards to the entire crew, and finally wishing for smooth filming, striving to wrap up production soon with soaring viewership.
These cliched platitudes were something Chen Feng previously didn't spend much time on nor had much chance to say, but he had heard plenty, so his words came naturally.
Certainly, he personally wasn't fond of these empty phrases, but it was wrong not to say them in his position.
In just two or three minutes, Chen Feng finished speaking and, amidst applause, waved his hand for them to continue the meeting while he exited the conference room.
The entire crew still needed to discuss specific work arrangements and execution issues, rendering Chen Feng somewhat redundant and uncomfortable, so he might as well leave first.
Returning to the chairman's office, which he hadn't visited in a while, it was nearly quitting time. He wasn't in a hurry to leave, planning to go with the two women, Sun and Wu.
Sitting in the boss chair, he took off his shoes and rested his feet on the wide office desk. Admittedly, this pose was quite comfortable.
But he hadn't enjoyed this second-generation heir's comfortable pose for long when the sound of knocking came.
Chen Feng still needed to maintain his boss image, so he immediately put his feet down and called out to the door, "Come in."
The one who came in was Yang Wenqi, holding a steaming cup of coffee with her face delicately made-up.
"Boss, I made you a cup of coffee. It's freshly ground Starbucks coffee beans. The taste is very nice."
Yang Wenqi said as she walked over to Chen Feng and placed the coffee on the desk.
They hadn't seen each other for a while, and upon seeing this beauty again, Chen Feng didn't exactly feel happy but rather somewhat cautious.
"Have you been in the company all these days? No other arrangements?"
Chen Feng looked at her with a hint of curiosity.
Yang Wenqi continued standing beside him without showing any intention of moving to sit on the sofa by the wall.
"After 'Green Jade Case' wrapped up, I had no other films to shoot. Indeed, some small crews approached me, but I rejected them all. President Lu felt there was no rush to take on another project until 'Green Jade Case' is released.
I've mostly been in the company during this period, occasionally assisting President Lu and President Wu. Also, on weekends, I attend classes here, with the company inviting acting teachers for one-on-one lessons to study acting skills."
Chen Feng nodded, reaching for the coffee cup printed with a cartoon bear design and casually asked, "This cup wasn't one you used, right?"
Yang Wenqi shook her head and said, "No, I bought two of these same cups. Yours is new and hasn't been used."
Chen Feng didn't say further, taking a small sip from the coffee, surprisingly finding the taste rather good.
Back when he was working as an employee, he drank quite a bit of coffee, albeit mostly instant coffee, which helped freshen him up. Most people who routinely worked overtime were familiar with it.
Hence, after quitting and achieving financial freedom, he instinctively stopped drinking coffee often.
Because drinking coffee inevitably reminded him of those exhausting days working overtime, even staying up late.
"I added some milk and sugar in it; is it okay for you?" Yang Wenqi asked softly.
"It's fine." Chen Feng said truthfully, putting down the coffee and turning to her, "Did you come here just to bring me coffee?"
Yang Wenqi looked a bit aggrieved and said, "You never respond to my WeChat messages. Today, hearing you were at the company, I wanted to come and see you."
Without embarrassment, Chen Feng calmly said, "I've read most of the messages you sent. If there's nothing urgent, I'm just too lazy to reply. My attitude isn't much different toward others. I have many WeChat friends, and if I had to respond to everybody, I wouldn't have time for anything else."
Yang Wenqi felt annoyed but wisely didn't dwell on the topic, switching to say, "Xinyan seems to be in great spirits lately. I heard she became an agent for a friend, doing promisingly well. Moreover, she represents you as your personal assistant, supervising two companies, respected by everyone..."
Chen Feng frowned and interrupted her, directly asking, "Are you saying this out of envy or jealousy? Or are you trying to express something else?"
Yang Wenqi was taken aback by Chen Feng's bluntness, feeling embarrassed yet irate, but outwardly she could only smile bitterly and explain, "Xinyan and I are good sisters; I couldn't possibly be jealous of her, but envy, yes."
After saying this, seeing Chen Feng's lack of reaction, she continued with a hint of grievance, "You're too fond of her. I just feel that what Xinyan can do for you, I can also achieve, perhaps even more and better. Also, I think you're a bit biased. Clearly, I knew you first, and it was I who introduced Xinyan to you."
