Chapter 110: Chapter 110: Iron Rice Bowl

"This just goes to show, there are too many variables when it comes to divination."

"Even I feel like this time was a lucky fluke."

"Things are always subject to change."

"So what are your plans now?"

Nina asked.

"Me?"

"Just taking it one day at a time."

"Luckily, this place provides food and shelter, and it’s pretty free."

"At least I won’t starve to death."

Sherry Renner blinked at Nina.

The shelter’s crisis was resolved. ’She was right, Nina really was the turning point for that terrible omen...’

But she kept these thoughts to herself.

"What if all of this is only temporary?"

Seeing Sherry’s confused expression, Nina pressed on.

"Why don’t you come with us to kill zombies outside for a few days?"

"Kill zombies?" 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Sherry had never really considered it.

"Yes. Think of it as another way to stay alive."

’In this life, Sherry has awakened a Superpower. There’s no way her life will be worse than the last one.’

’Even if she stays at the base, I want her to learn how to protect herself.’

"You’re right. If I were as strong as you,"

"I wouldn’t have had my leg broken."

"I’ll go out with you tomorrow. Are you willing to carry a total noob like me?"

Once she thought it through, Sherry immediately agreed.

You could say she’d never killed a single zombie.

So calling herself a noob wasn’t an exaggeration.

"Of course."

Nina said with a smile.

Although the recent zombie raid was over, the number of zombies around the shelter was bound to have increased drastically.

And just as she had predicted, Daniel Hale used his Spiritual Element Superpower to mark all the weak points in the shelter’s defenses.

A large number of zombies were still milling about, especially outside the checkpoint entrance.

"So, it looks like we’ll have to change our plans for this week."

"Supply runs will have to be suspended for a few days."

"We need to clear out the surrounding zombies first."

Daniel Hale told the group after he returned.

"Hahaha, now those people won’t dare to say anything anymore."

"Dad awakened the Spiritual Element and was made Director of Human Resources and a security defense consultant."

Leo Hale finally got to hold his head high thanks to his father.

"I still can’t believe you managed to awaken a Spiritual Element Superpower."

Of course, Vera Coleman was happy.

She just never expected such a good thing would happen to them.

You have to understand, a Spiritual Element Superpower wasn’t just rare; it also meant a secure position for life.

"Yeah, I didn’t expect it either."

"Maybe it’s just like Nina said, everything will be okay."

Daniel Hale then remembered something else.

"Gabriel Leighton also said he knows you. Did you save him?"

Nina nodded and recounted how she had met his group on the road.

"Did he agree to join the rescue team?"

Nina asked curiously.

"At first, he wasn’t willing. He was still worried about his companions from City J."

"But his companions are also Superpower Users, so after getting their consent,"

"Lawson had all four of them join the team directly."

Daniel Hale replied.

After all, Gabriel Leighton’s Spiritual Element Superpower had been a huge help this time.

"That’s great."

Nina nodded after hearing this.

Evan Crawford and his group of four were all experienced Superpower Users. Right now, after joining the shelter, they might just be members of the rescue team.

But once the base was established, they might be able to make a name for themselves.

"Yeah. After this incident, a proposal for coordinated combat among Superpower Users was put forward."

"Chester Pearson proposed a theory that the mutated zombies are so powerful because their Superpowers can gradually grow stronger."

"If that’s true, weapons might become nothing more than auxiliary tools for Superpower Users in the future."

As Daniel Hale spoke, the others in the room listened quietly.

"He’s certainly very observant."

Nina was a little surprised to hear that.

’In my past life, news that Superpowers could get stronger came from the general headquarters, and that wasn’t until next month. I can’t believe Chester Pearson figured it out this time around.’

"He told me about it in private."

"He said he only discovered it because of the two of us."

Leo Hale said.

"You and me?"

Nina was sure she hadn’t revealed this to anyone.

"It was probably something you said unintentionally."

"That time you told me to learn from the zombies,"

"I took it as a joke, but he actually took it seriously."

Leo Hale said with a wry smile.

On one hand, he somewhat admired Chester Pearson; on the other, he felt the guy was a total psycho who was capable of anything.

It turned out that, inspired by Nina’s words, Chester Pearson had later captured a few mutated zombies and locked them up in a dilapidated house outside the shelter.

He went to observe the changes in those mutated zombies every day and would even spar with them a bit.

Half a month later, his conclusion was that the zombies’ Superpowers were getting stronger.

This discovery terrified many people, filling them with immense worry.

Fortunately, Chester discovered that as he sparred with those zombies every day, his and several other team members’ Superpowers were also slowly improving.

In other words, as long as it was a Superpower, it didn’t matter if the user was a zombie or a human.

It could always be improved.

Chester believed their current priority should be improving their Superpowers.

"But some people still believe that weapons are the only thing that truly matters."

Daniel Hale actually agreed with Chester.

Because in his eyes, Nina’s current level was already much higher than before.

"Forget everything else, just from me using my Water Element Superpower to release some water every day, the volume is already several times what it was at the beginning."

"This Superpower definitely gets stronger."

Vera Coleman brought over a few plates of nuts and deliberately placed a trash can in front of Wayne Warner.

Because Wayne alone could fill a trash can with nutshells.

Nina also just learned that it was Vera who had taught Wayne how to shell them.

It was just that Wayne’s method of shelling was a bit... special. A handful of peanuts would be completely shelled with a light squeeze of his hand.

Even Hawaii Nuts cracked open with an easy pinch from him.

He picked them up and ate them one by one, unlike back at the Superpower User Alliance, where he would eat them shell and all.

"Deep-seated prejudices are hard to break overnight."

"We have to take it slow."

’The timeline in this life seems to be moving much faster than the last one,’ Nina thought.

’Of course, it could just be my imagination.’

That night, Nina was in her room alone, practicing her Control over the Little Zombie Rat.

Since awakening her Wood Element Superpower, she seemed to be able to "see" the different energies within her body.

They were several round orbs of light. The largest one was red, followed by gray and yellow, and the smallest was green.

Although the orbs existed independently, they were also connected to a small pool of water below.

She believed that the small pool was her Superpower Energy, and the different colored orbs represented her various Superpowers.

The Little Zombie Rat in her room could already run and even jump. Nina was now practicing its climbing Skill.

Perhaps because it was being nourished by the seed, the Little Zombie Rat’s originally blackened and peeling skin was gradually becoming dry.

Bark-like textures were even starting to grow over its festering skin.

It actually made it a bit easier on the eyes.

Nina activated "Five Senses Enhancement" and quickly located where Liam Grant and his group were staying.

She was also worried about the "variables" Sherry had mentioned.

But she soon realized her fears were unfounded.

"...Could it be that we remembered the date wrong?"

"Are we sure Wyatt Jacobs was supposed to awaken his Superpower today?"

Renee Strong couldn’t believe it either. Wyatt Jacobs, the strongest Gold Element Superpower User among them, hadn’t awakened his Superpower.

"There’s no mistake. It’s today."

Simon Abbott replied.
