Chapter 150: Chapter 150: Kept Kneeling Before Wyatt Sterling

You could tell just how excited Finn Hawthorne was from his posture—he hadn’t even realized he was kneeling in front of Wyatt Sterling.

The corners of Wyatt Sterling’s lips quirked up. "Going to all this trouble to kneel... shouldn’t you complete the gesture with a kowtow?"

"..."

In the midst of his excitement, Finn Hawthorne froze when he heard this.

A few seconds later, he slowly looked down at his own pathetic state, his expression as disgusted as if he’d eaten shit. He quickly tried to push himself up, but he overestimated his current strength. He was only halfway up before the pain forced him back to his knees.

"Tsk, tsk." Wyatt Sterling propped his cheek up with his hand. "Such dedication. One grand bow wasn’t enough, so you’re giving me another."

"..."

Grimacing, Finn Hawthorne slowly looked up. "I’m not trying to kneel to you. I just can’t stand up."

Wyatt Sterling gave a slight nod. "I understand. You’re so grateful to me that you’re desperate to kneel."

"..."

A vein throbbed in Finn Hawthorne’s temple. "Grateful for what? You’ve only told me half the story! A person of your character would never be kind enough to tell me something this important. You must have an ulterior motive!"

"My character..." Wyatt Sterling let out a laugh. Even his gaze, which had previously regarded Finn Hawthorne as trash, now held a hint of appreciation.

"So you’re not completely hopeless."

Finn Hawthorne sputtered and fell backward, plopping onto the floor. But the movement aggravated a nerve, and the sudden pain made his face drain of color.

’To think that he, the pampered young master of the Hawthorne Family, had suffered more today than in his entire life.’

"Just say it. What’s your motive for telling me about my sister? What do you really want?" Finn Hawthorne clutched his lower back, his voice weak.

Wyatt Sterling paid no mind to him sitting on the floor and continued, "It may have been by chance, but those two witnesses have indeed fallen into my hands. If the Hawthorne Family wants to know more, you’ll have to make a deal with me." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

Finn Hawthorne’s eyelid twitched. "What deal?"

Wyatt Sterling said, "You don’t have the right to know. Have Gale Hawthorne come talk to me."

Finn Hawthorne said angrily, "What gives you the right to talk to my grandfather? You’re not qualified!"

Such impotent rage was laughable to Wyatt Sterling. He ignored it. "Knowing the whereabouts of the missing Miss Hawthorne is my trump card. Isn’t that qualification enough?"

Finn Hawthorne fell silent instantly.

’He was right. That was his sister. The sister his entire family had been searching for for over twenty years.’

’With that information in Wyatt Sterling’s hands, he truly did have a trump card for blackmail!’

"Then... are you going to let me go back and tell them?" Finn Hawthorne asked uncertainly.

Wyatt Sterling raised an eyebrow. "Let you go back? In your dreams."

Finn Hawthorne’s expression changed. "What do you mean?"

Wyatt Sterling didn’t answer immediately. He uncrossed his long legs and slowly got to his feet.

With his hands in his pockets, he looked down condescendingly at the man on the floor. "You don’t play a bargaining chip right away. I need to make some arrangements. As for you, call Felix Hawthorne. Tell him you’re fine and that you’ll be back in Arden in a couple of days."

Finn Hawthorne’s head shot up. "I can call my brother?"

Wyatt Sterling narrowed his eyes. "Say one word you’re not supposed to, and you die."

"..."

Compared to phrases like "go to hell" or "you’re dead," the two words "you die," spoken so casually by Wyatt Sterling, were far more terrifying to Finn Hawthorne.

’He knew Wyatt Sterling wasn’t joking.’

’He meant it!’

"I understand..." Finn Hawthorne lowered his head, but then a thought made him look up again. "You’re making me lie to my brother and keeping me here... you’re not going to keep beating me, are you? I’ve already admitted I was wrong. You can’t hit me anymore. You’ll kill me if you do."

"I won’t hit you," Wyatt Sterling said flatly.

"I don’t believe you," Finn Hawthorne said stubbornly.

Wyatt Sterling said, "Then I will."

Finn Hawthorne looked crestfallen. "...Fine, I believe you."

"Someone will bring you a phone. As for why I’m keeping you here, you’ll find that out soon enough."

Having said all he needed to, Wyatt Sterling turned to leave.

Watching Wyatt Sterling’s retreating back, Finn Hawthorne said miserably, "Can’t you give me a hand?"

"Didn’t I leave a chair for you?"

He was already far away.

Finn Hawthorne looked at the chair Wyatt Sterling had just vacated and sighed heavily. ’If I’d known this ordeal was coming...’ "HISSS... so painful."

...

Alice York didn’t know what Wyatt Sterling and Finn Hawthorne had discussed inside.

She hadn’t deliberately tried to eavesdrop, and from a distance, she could only vaguely see Finn Hawthorne looking agitated one moment and despondent the next.

’His emotions seemed to be all over the place.’

’I wonder what on earth Wyatt Sterling said to him.’

"Miss Alice, you have a call."

Behind her, Mason Cheney hurried over with a cell phone in his hand.

Alice York hadn’t gotten her phone back since the incident. She had told Wyatt Sterling that her phone had been stolen, and it was only returned today after they captured Finn Hawthorne.

She took the phone and glanced at the screen. The caller ID read—Grandpa.

"It’s... a call from Grandpa," Alice said.

"Miss Alice, it’s up to you whether to answer it," Mason Cheney said, clearly unsure how to handle the situation himself.

A call from Old Master Sterling himself couldn’t just be ignored. Since the Third Master hadn’t come out yet, Mason had no choice but to hand the phone to Alice.

Alice was surprised. "This is the first time Grandpa has ever called me himself."

Mason Cheney stated it plainly, "News of what happened here has already reached Silvanus. The Old Master knows."

"I see." Alice understood.

Just as she was about to accept the call, Wyatt Sterling’s voice came from behind her. "Don’t answer."

Alice turned to look at him. "You’re out."

Wyatt Sterling strode over, took Alice’s phone, and rejected the call for her. The screen went dark.

"But that was Grandpa calling himself," she said, a little uneasy.

He glanced at her from the corner of his eye. "So what?"

The question was utterly dismissive, in line with Wyatt Sterling’s usual arrogance.

Alice pursed her lips but ultimately said nothing.

After the call was rejected, they didn’t call back a second time. Alice watched him toy with the phone in his palm and asked softly, "Third Uncle, are we going back to Silvanus this afternoon, or tonight?"

Wyatt Sterling’s hand paused. He then handed the phone back to her. "Neither."

Alice was surprised. "Then when are we going back?"

Wyatt Sterling turned his gaze on her. "You want to go back that badly?"

"..."

’Of course I don’t want to go back.’

’She wished she could stay in Rhovan forever. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have secretly sent her resume here in the first place, which ended up angering her grandfather and getting her into trouble.’

As if he could read her mind, Wyatt Sterling moved closer. "Want to stay a couple more days?"

Alice suddenly looked up at him. "Can I?"

"If you want to, you can," Wyatt Sterling said.

For some reason, Alice felt like Wyatt Sterling was just messing with her. Hanging up on the Old Master was one thing, but to say she could stay in Rhovan for a couple more days... it was simply unheard of.

"That look on your face says you don’t believe me."

"..."

’How does he always see right through me?’

"It doesn’t matter if you don’t believe me now," he said. "You will when the time comes. Get ready. We leave in half an hour."

With that, Wyatt Sterling strode away, as if he had other business to attend to.

Alice watched his retreating figure, wondering where they could possibly be going in half an hour. It didn’t seem like they were heading back to Silvanus. ’Are we going to see some friends?’

Suddenly thinking of Mindy Vaughn, she immediately pulled out her phone and dialed her number.
