After Giving Birth, All My Beast Ex-Husbands Suddenly Want Me Back-Chapter 129: Quarrel
After tying the ribbons at the back of the dress, Odian suddenly drew in a quiet breath as he looked at Nina.
She looked breathtaking.
The gown was elegant and grand, its flowing design perfectly accentuating Nina’s graceful figure and alluring curves.
For a moment, Odian almost regretted helping her put it on.
The bonfire gathering would be full of unmarried males.
He didn’t want them to see Nina looking this beautiful.
From behind, he wrapped his arms around her waist, resting his chin lightly on her shoulder.
"Nina... how about we change into another outfit?"
Nina turned slightly, puzzled. "Why? Does this one not look good?"
"It’s not that," Odian muttered. "It looks too good. There will be a lot of males at the bonfire gathering. If they see you, they’ll definitely start bringing you gifts. What if you take a liking to one of them?"
He sounded a little sullen.
There were already plenty of rivals around Nina. If more appeared, the competition would become unbearable.
Nina turned around, reaching up to gently pinch his handsome face.
"You’re already jealous before we’ve even left? Tell me then—what could I possibly wear that wouldn’t look good?"
Odian was instantly stumped.
After a brief pause, he quickly amended, "Nina looks beautiful in anything."
Nina laughed softly.
"Relax. Have a little confidence in yourself. I’m not interested in just anyone."
Then she leaned forward and kissed Odian lightly.
"The males in this tribe can’t compare to you."
Odian pulled her into an embrace.
"...Alright. But promise me something—don’t look at those other males too much."
He still remembered the last time he attended such a gathering. Some of the males had dressed themselves up in outrageously flashy ways.
"I know," Nina said with a smile.
She hadn’t expected Odian to be this jealous.
When Nina stepped outside wearing the gown, every male waiting outside froze.
They unconsciously held their breath, staring at her without blinking.
They couldn’t look away.
Nina... / Lady Nina... is far too beautiful.
Suddenly—thump, thump!—several merfolk who had been hiding in the trees above lost their balance and fell straight down.
They scrambled up again and quickly crawled into the grass to continue peeking.
Wow... Lady Nina is so beautiful!
The cubs’ eyes sparkled brightly.
Mother looks so pretty!
Sal, meanwhile, felt waves of jealousy surge through him like a stormy sea.
He pulled Nina into his arms.
"Nina... how about we just don’t go?"
He really didn’t want other males seeing her like this.
"No," Nina replied. "I already promised Aina. I can’t just break my word."
Sal sighed.
"...Alright."
Sal looked utterly helpless.
Fine. If we have to go, he thought, then I’ll just have to guard Nina carefully and chase away every annoying fly that dares come buzzing around her.
Aviel noticed Nina’s bare neck and quickly pulled out the jewelry he had spent the past few days crafting.
The marks on Nina’s skin had already faded almost completely after she treated them with her healing ability and medicinal ointment.
Originally, Nina had considered buying a set of jewelry to go with her dress, but the ones she liked were all quite expensive. Since she would probably only wear it once, she decided not to bother.
Now Aviel held a beautiful set of ornaments out to her.
"Nina, I made this myself. See if you like it. I thought it might match your dress."
Nina looked down at the elegant jewelry resting in his hands. It truly was beautiful—and it matched the gown perfectly.
She hadn’t expected Aviel to have such skill.
She nodded with a smile. "I like it. Help me put it on."
"Of course."
Aviel was so happy that his hands trembled slightly as he fastened the necklace around her neck.
With the jewelry added, Nina became even more radiant.
"Alright! I think we’re ready to go!" she said.
She bent down and gathered the cubs into her arms. One by one, the four little ones leaned forward and kissed her.
They simply had to kiss their beautiful mother.
Soon, Nina and the others set off toward the western square.
Meanwhile, over at the tribe’s western plaza, Aina and the others had already arrived and were waiting for Nina.
"Aina, did Nina really say she’s coming? Why hasn’t she arrived yet?" Jina asked, craning her neck and peering down the path.
"Yes, she sent someone to tell me she would come," Aina replied, glancing in the same direction. "She should be here soon."
A sneer sounded nearby.
"Honestly, why would you invite an ugly female to a bonfire gathering like this?" Shui said mockingly. "No male would ever bring gifts to confess to a female that ugly."
"Is that Nina really that ugly?" another female beside Shui asked curiously.
"Of course. Hideous," Shui replied. "The kind of ugly that gives you nightmares if you look too long."
"Seriously? Then why would she even come?" another female chimed in.
Aina’s face flushed with anger.
"Shui, stop slandering Nina on purpose! She’s not ugly at all—she’s far more beautiful than someone with a rotten heart like you."
"Exactly!" Jina snapped. "You’re the ugly one. Nina looks way better than you."
Another female nearby spoke up angrily.
"Why are you insulting Nina? She saved so many people in our tribe—she’s our benefactor! We won’t let you talk about her like that."
"And she’s contributed so much to the tribe," another added sharply. "She even taught us how to make desserts. What have you ever done for the tribe? What right do you have to criticize Nina?"
Shui’s face twisted with irritation.
"Did I say anything wrong? She is ugly! That’s just the truth. What, are we not allowed to say someone is ugly now?"
"Say one more bad word about Nina and see what happens," Jina snapped, raising her fist. "I’ll hit you."
Just then, a tall male walked over.
Shui immediately slipped behind him, clutching his arm.
"Atai! Jina wants to hit me."
Atai frowned slightly. "Jina, you can’t hit a female from the tribe."
"She insulted my friend," Jina shot back. "Of course I’d hit her! This is a matter between females—you males aren’t supposed to interfere. Even if you’re the tribe’s strongest warrior."
"I only said the truth," Shui insisted. "Nina is ugly."
"Exactly," one of the females beside her added. "I’ve heard the same thing. Nina is supposed to be very ugly."
Atai’s brows knitted together. He had heard those rumors as well.
"Jina, Shui didn’t say anything wrong. You shouldn’t hit her."
"Hmph." Jina turned her head away, falling silent.
If Atai stepped in, she definitely wouldn’t gain the upper hand.
"Thank you, Atai," Shui said sweetly, clinging to his arm and deliberately pressing herself against him. "Will you give me a gift later tonight?"
She had had her eye on the tribe’s strongest warrior for quite some time. Perhaps tonight she could finally secure him.
Of course... he wasn’t her main target.
Her gaze drifted toward the direction Nina would come from.
The male she truly wanted was one of Nina’s.
Glancing down at the item in her hand, Shui smiled to herself.
Tonight’s plan will definitely succeed.
She had overheard something Aina’s mate mentioned earlier and suddenly thought of a brilliant idea.
Pressed against her so closely, Atai flushed slightly.
"W-we’ll talk about it later."
Hearing that, Shui immediately knew she had a chance.
"Then I’ll be waiting," she said sweetly.
She lifted her chin smugly toward Aina and the others.
Soon enough, the tribe’s strongest warrior would be hers.
Jina looked at them with undisguised contempt.
Some males really had nothing but muscles and no brains. If Atai ended up with someone like Shui, he would regret it sooner or later.
The two females standing beside Shui both flashed looks of jealousy.
The tribe’s strongest warrior was someone they had secretly hoped for as well.
Almost unconsciously, the two of them edged slightly away from Shui.
Just as Shui was basking in her triumph, a sudden wave of excited cries rose from the beastfolk not far away.
