After Divorce I Married a Tycoon-Chapter 151: Extremely Urgent
The finals of the competition were to be held at Rhonia Stadium.
The competition was divided into five stages, held over five weeks.
Sixty contestants would be narrowed down to thirty, then thirty to twenty, and twenty to ten.
Finally, the top three would be decided from the ten finalists.
The day before the competition began, the organizer, CZ, held a grand opening ceremony.
Not only did all one hundred and twenty contestants from the sixty finalist acts make an appearance,
but they had even invited several celebrities to be guest performers at the opening ceremony.
When Roxanne Peyton caught wind of this, she was beyond excited and rushed over to find Claire Mercer the day before the ceremony.
After parking her car, she sprinted straight for the elevators.
In her excitement, she was running too fast.
In the elevator lobby, she accidentally crashed into a man who was waiting for an elevator.
The impact sent the man stumbling forward two steps, right into the wall.
His back ached, and he couldn’t help but let out a low groan, his brow tightly furrowed.
Roxanne, for her part, felt her head spin from the collision, stars bursting in her vision.
"I’m so sorry, excuse me..."
The man she’d hit turned around and saw it was his sister’s best friend.
She was unsteady on her feet after the violent impact, looking as if she were about to pass out.
Silas Rowan quickly grabbed her arm to steady her.
As Roxanne Peyton regained her balance, her head was still swimming.
She stood with her eyes closed, rubbing her forehead with a frown.
From the looks of it, she had hit him quite hard.
’Fair enough.’
’She’d just sent me crashing into the wall, and my back still hurts.’
’Such a powerful impact... it just goes to show how fast and hard she was running.’
Seeing her in such a frantic rush, it looked like she was dealing with something incredibly urgent.
Silas was puzzled. "What’s the big rush?"
’That voice sounds a little familiar,’
Roxanne Peyton looked up and finally saw that the person she had run into was Silas Rowan.
"Young Master Rowan?"
She blinked, staring at Silas.
She couldn’t help but rub her woozy head again.
"Sorry about that, Young Master Rowan. I was in a bit of a hurry..."
Silas corrected her. "Just call me Silas."
He didn’t actually like it when people called him Young Master Rowan.
It was as if his only identity was being the young master of the Rowan Family.
But he was his own person. He had his own name.
Besides, she was Claire’s best friend. Calling him Young Master Rowan felt far too distant.
"By the way, are you on your way to Claire’s for dinner?" Silas asked her.
Roxanne Peyton nodded. "Yeah."
’Running this fast just for a meal?’
’Just how hungry is she?’
Silas couldn’t help but chuckle. "There’s no need to be in such a hurry. Dinner isn’t ready yet."
Roxanne explained, "I’m not in a rush for dinner."
"I have something important to tell her."
"What’s so important?" Silas asked, a little curious.
’What could possibly make her so frantic?’
After asking, he thought he was acting strangely today.
Normally, he didn’t care at all about other people’s business.
He would never ask so many questions, nor did he want to know so much.
But today, for some reason, he had asked her so many questions.
’When did I become so nosy?’
Silas found his own unusual behavior a bit baffling.
But Roxanne Peyton was carefree by nature and didn’t notice any of this.
She was just about to answer Silas’s question when the elevator arrived.
They entered the elevator one after the other.
Silas thought it was a good thing other residents were also getting into the elevator.
Otherwise, it would have been just the two of them in the elevator with nothing to say...
And since they were acquaintances, he had no idea how awkward the atmosphere would have become.
In reality, Roxanne Peyton never thought about such things.
She was straightforward and carefree, not one to overthink.
Besides, her mind was completely focused on the opening ceremony tomorrow.
Nothing else was on her radar at the moment.
The elevator stopped on the twenty-second floor, and the two of them exited one after the other.
Even after entering the apartment, Roxanne Peyton was still out of breath.
"What’s wrong with you... Were you chased by a dog?" Claire Mercer asked, her delicate brows knitting together.
Roxanne’s cheeks were flushed from her frantic run.
Her breathing was ragged, and her mouth was dry.
"It’s just..."
Stella Thorne quickly patted her on the back to help her catch her breath, then led her to the living room.
"Sit down and rest for a bit. Have some water to soothe your throat."
Claire Mercer placed a platter of fruit on the coffee table.
"I was just about to call and invite you over for dinner, and here you are."
"But how did you end up coming with Silas?"
Her gaze darted back and forth between the two, filled with a mysterious, probing look.
"Did you two secretly arrange to come together?" Stella Thorne asked.
A faint smile played on her lips.
It revealed two small dimples on her cheeks, looking very sweet.
"I was just saying that we hadn’t even had a chance to call you yet, and you showed up on your own."
"So you had plans with Silas all along."
Roxanne Peyton glanced at Silas Rowan, who showed no intention of explaining.
She quickly waved her hands and said, "No, that’s not it! I came by myself."
"We just ran into each other in the elevator lobby downstairs and came up together."
Claire Mercer saw that she didn’t seem to be hiding anything or lying, so she nodded.
She teased with a smile, "Well, you must have a sensitive nose, smelling our cooking from so far away."
Roxanne waved her hand dismissively. "I didn’t come to mooch a meal! I came to ask you something."
Silas laughed. "And it seems to be an extremely urgent matter, judging by how you were rushing all the way here."
"You hit my back so hard it still hurts."
At the mention of that, Roxanne looked apologetic all over again.
"Sorry about that. I had something on my mind and was in a bit of a rush."
"It’s a small thing. I was just joking with you."
Silas walked over to the sofa, sat down, and picked up a slice of apple.
Seeing how anxious Roxanne looked, Claire Mercer asked her,
"What has you in such a hurry?"
Roxanne quickly pulled her over to the sofa to sit down, then asked:
"I heard that for your competition’s opening ceremony, they not only invited August Thorne but also the top domestic boy band, the FS Boy Band?"
Claire was a bit unsure. "I think so? I don’t really pay attention to celebrities in the entertainment industry."
She had been busy with the competition lately.
’Where would I find the time to care about who was invited to the opening ceremony?’
"Don’t tell me you came all this way just for that?"
Roxanne Peyton nodded emphatically.
Then, she asked with a grin, "Can you take me to the opening ceremony?"
"August Thorne is my celebrity crush, and the FS Boy Band are my idols..."
"Tomorrow is such a great opportunity. I want to see them perform live."
"If I’d known they were invited, I would have tried to snag tickets with the other fans a few days ago."
She looked annoyed with herself as she said this.
August Thorne was a famous singer in the country. He wasn’t old, but he had already won several major awards. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
That, combined with his handsome looks and talent, was enough to make Roxanne Peyton head over heels for him.
Silas hadn’t expected that Roxanne’s "extremely urgent matter" was just about wanting to see celebrities perform live.
"You follow celebrities?"
Roxanne said, "Not really. I just want to see them perform live."
"Compared to those crazy fans, I simply like listening to their songs and love their faces."
Silas said, "August Thorne, I can understand. Some of his songs are genuinely good."
"But you actually like those greasy young idols?"
"How are they greasy idols?" Roxanne retorted, displeased. "They’re young and handsome heartthrobs."
"The entertainment industry is a mess, and the people in it are a mess, too."
"Those celebrities look glamorous, but the sacrifices they make behind the scenes are things ordinary people can’t understand or accept."
As the largest shareholder of the country’s biggest talent agency, Silas was very clear on the rules of the industry.
August Thorne and the FS Boy Band were both artists under his company.
He actually knew a fair bit about them.
Just as he’d said, what fans saw was only what they were allowed to see.
Behind the scenes, August Thorne had had more girlfriends than he could count on both hands.
And while the members of the FS Boy Band were just young men in their early twenties, their private lives were also quite colorful.
’I never thought the little princess of the Peyton Family would actually be into people from the entertainment industry.’
Although Roxanne wasn’t a die-hard fan, hearing someone implicitly suggest her idols had to sleep their way to the top made her feel a little uncomfortable.
