After Divorce I Married a Tycoon-Chapter 131: Is Claire Falling in Love?
Stella Thorne was beaming, her eyes curving into crescents.
"Of course I noticed."
She leaned in and whispered secretively in Roxanne Peyton’s ear,
"Do you think Claire’s heart is finally stirring this time?"
Roxanne Peyton grinned mischievously. "It’s hard to say."
"With a face like Adrian Sutton’s, very few women can resist."
"Plus, he’s saved Claire time and again, and he even prepares three meals a day for her..."
"He’s so gentle and considerate toward her... It’d be a miracle if Claire could hold out."
The two of them huddled together, giggling for a while.
Then, something suddenly occurred to Stella Thorne.
"Do you think she’ll mistake gratitude for love again, like she did with Gavin Sinclair?"
"She might get all lovestruck trying to repay his kindness."
At these words, Roxanne Peyton fell into deep thought.
Then she said, "I don’t think Adrian Sutton is anything like that scumbag Gavin Sinclair.
"Besides, even Mrs. Rowan trusts his character, so he can’t be a total jerk."
"And another thing—if he dares to bully or betray Claire, Mrs. Rowan won’t let him off the hook, and neither will we."
"Gavin Sinclair’s family is the richest in Rhonia, after all. They have extensive connections, so dealing with him isn’t easy."
"But Adrian Sutton comes from an ordinary background. His family has no power, no influence, no money, and no connections."
"If he dares to hurt Claire, I’ll make him regret it."
Stella Thorne nodded in agreement. "That’s true."
"Oh, come on. I can tell Adrian is head over heels for Claire. We shouldn’t worry."
"Didn’t you see how they were just now? Anyone who didn’t know better would think they were getting married today."
After saying this, Roxanne Peyton couldn’t help but cover her mouth and chuckle again.
Stella Thorne couldn’t hold it in either. "PFFT..."
Mrs. Rowan stood a short distance away, watching them the whole time.
Their optimistic, cheerful, and sunny smiles were infectious, and the more she watched them, the more she liked them.
After the two girls said their goodbyes and went downstairs, she couldn’t contain her excitement and patted her son on the arm.
"Silas, did you see Claire’s two best friends?"
Silas Rowan, still a bit dazed, nodded.
"I saw them."
Two grown people had been moving around right in front of him.
He wasn’t blind, so how could he not have seen them?
"What do you think of them?" Mrs. Rowan asked with a beaming smile.
Hearing this, and recalling the look his dear mother had just given Roxanne Peyton and Stella Thorne...
Silas instantly sensed something was amiss.
"Mom, what are you trying to say?"
"I think those two girls have very likable personalities. They’re so optimistic and cheerful, like little suns. Don’t you think?"
Mrs. Rowan looked at her son with anticipation.
But his handsome face remained expressionless.
"I don’t."
At his words, the smile on Mrs. Rowan’s face froze instantly.
"Silas Rowan, are you deliberately trying to argue with me?"
Silas couldn’t help but sigh.
"Mom, how am I arguing with you?"
"You asked me a question, and I was just giving you my opinion."
Mrs. Rowan was starting to get angry.
She felt like her wonderful mood had been completely ruined by this disappointing son of hers.
"Your opinion? What kind of garbage opinion is that?"
"You find every girl unlikable. You look down on all of them, you don’t like any of them..."
"I’m going to ask you one question today. Do you not like girls?"
Silas: "..."
Mrs. Rowan continued her soul-crushing interrogation.
"Tell me the truth. Do you like men?"
Silas sighed. "How is that possible?"
’My mom has gone completely off the deep end with this marriage nagging.’
"Mom, I’m only twenty-seven. I’m not missing any limbs."
"Why are you always in such a hurry for me to get married?"
"How could I not be in a hurry?" Mrs. Rowan retorted.
"Adrian is barely a few days older than you, and he’s already married."
"I told you, he tricked her into marriage..." Silas corrected her sternly.
"I don’t care if he tricked her or not. Even if he was deceptive and secretive, his feelings for Claire are genuine."
"Besides, at least he’s managed to marry the woman he loves. What about you?"
"I don’t even know what you’re busy with all day. You don’t even have a single woman around you."
"Do you have any idea that your grandparents think you don’t like women, that you like men?"
At this, Silas’s face clouded over with exasperation.
"Wait... what on earth gave you all that impression?"
Mrs. Rowan glared at him irritably. "Who else but you?"
"If you had just dated someone, or even showed the slightest interest in a girl, would we think that?"
"I never used to think about it that way, but then your grandparents mentioned it, and I realized something was off with you."
"Adrian had his first crush at seventeen and was secretly in love with Claire for ten years."
"And you? At that tender age, you didn’t even have a puppy love romance..."
Back then, she actually thought it was a good thing that her son wasn’t dating young like his peers.
He didn’t let it interfere with his studies and always followed the rules.
The age of first crushes is precisely the time for puppy love.
But this rascal of a son of hers was the only exception. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
He always had this cold, indifferent, ’no girls allowed’ air about him.
’Thinking back now, was he already different from other boys even then?’
She almost wished he had dated back then. At least his orientation would be normal.
"Just be honest with me today. Do you like men?"
Silas explained, feeling drained.
"How could I possibly like men?"
He never understood homosexuality, but he respected it.
Since he didn’t understand it himself, how could he possibly be the same way?
"Really?" Mrs. Rowan asked, still skeptical.
"Mom, I swear. It’s the honest-to-God truth."
Seeing her son go so far as to swear an oath, Mrs. Rowan finally breathed a sigh of relief.
’Thank goodness, thank goodness. My son’s orientation is normal.’
’If my son really did like men, I truly wouldn’t be able to accept it right away.’
"Then why haven’t you ever had a girlfriend?" she asked Silas again.
Her tone was clearly much lighter than before.
Silas explained patiently, "Doesn’t something like love depend on fate?"
"If fate hasn’t arrived, who am I supposed to date?"
"Do you want me to be like those playboys from rich families, changing girlfriends every day?"
He approached everything with a very serious attitude.
Love was no different.
Until he met a girl who truly made his heart skip a beat,
he would never casually start a relationship.
"So, Mom, it’s no use being anxious about my marriage right now."
"If it’s meant to be, you’ll meet even if you’re a thousand miles apart. If not, you won’t connect even if you’re face to face."
"It’s not that I don’t want to be in a relationship, it’s just that fate hasn’t brought it to me yet."
"In that case, I’ll have to find a master fortune-teller to see when your true love is destined to arrive."
As she spoke, Mrs. Rowan was already mentally calculating which master she should hire to do a reading for her son.
When Silas heard she was going to find some master to read his fortune, he no longer had the energy to fight back.
’It seems Her Majesty, my mother, won’t rest until I bring a girlfriend home.’
