Chapter 113: Chapter 113: Shut Your Stinking Mouth

Claire Mercer parked her car at the main gate of the Mercer estate.

She parked by the gate in case the Mercer family tried to pull any tricks; this way, she could make a quick getaway if things went south.

After parking, she stared at the place where she had once lived.

She was familiar with every blade of grass, every tree.

And now, she was about to leave this place where she’d grown up for good.

A mix of complicated feelings churned within her.

Before Scarlett Jewel returned, before she knew the truth about her birth...

She had held some affection for this family, one way or another.

After all, she had once believed she was the Mercers’ biological daughter.

Even though her parents favored Oscar Mercer, even though they were overly strict and cruel to her.

She could never bring herself to truly hate them.

Because she thought Julian Mercer and Judith Caldwell had given her life and, however crudely, raised her.

But that all changed when they locked her in a dark room against her will, risking her life just to marry her off to that Mr. Bower.

Any lingering affection she had for the Mercer family completely vanished then.

From now on, she would have no connection to the Mercer family whatsoever.

As long as they didn’t bother her, she wouldn’t go out of her way to start trouble.

The best-case scenario was for them to treat each other as strangers and stay out of each other’s lives.

She composed herself and walked through the Mercer estate’s gate.

"The young miss is back."

A servant greeted her upon seeing her, then went inside to announce her arrival.

Claire Mercer found that a bit strange.

In the past, she had never been valued in this house.

Because of Julian Mercer and Judith Caldwell’s attitude toward her, even the servants paid her no mind.

It was strange for them to proactively call her "young miss" today.

’Could it be because I turned the Mercer family upside down and into a complete mess... that these servants realized I’m not someone to be trifled with?’

’Is that why their attitude has changed?’

’It’s not impossible!’

Still, she remained on high alert.

Any abnormal behavior could be a sign that the Mercer family was about to stir up more trouble.

In any case, she had to get the agreement signed first.

Sign it, then get out of here quickly.

With that thought, Claire Mercer entered the house.

Inside, Julian Mercer, Judith Caldwell, Oscar Mercer, and Scarlett Jewel were all present.

And there was also an official-looking person in what appeared to be a notary’s uniform.

’Hard to believe the Mercers were actually this thorough.’

’They even called someone from the notary office to be a witness.’

’This is even better. It’ll keep them from backing out later and causing more drama.’

As for Julian Mercer and the others, their expressions upon seeing her were the same as always—unwelcoming.

Their eyes didn’t even try to hide the disgust and deep-seated hatred they held for her.

The father and son, Julian and Oscar Mercer, shot her a dark glance. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Then they let out a dismissive snort.

She had expected Judith Caldwell to unleash a torrent of curses at her, as she usually did.

But today, Judith just glared at her viciously without saying a word.

However, the look in her narrow, triangular eyes seemed to want to strangle Claire on the spot.

But the swollen, red handprint on her face caught Claire Mercer’s attention. Even though Judith had caked on a thick layer of foundation, the mark was still noticeable.

"What happened to your face?"

She couldn’t help but ask.

Judith Caldwell instantly covered her face, glaring at Claire in fury.

"What’s it to you?"

’This damn bitch...’

’She’s just mocking me, humiliating me, enjoying my misery.’

’She obviously already guessed I was a victim of domestic abuse.’

’And she still asks, just to rub salt in the wound.’

Seeing that Judith’s arrogance had deflated, Claire Mercer let out a mocking laugh.

"It looks like things haven’t been going well for you lately. You seem even more pathetic than I imagined."

"But as your former daughter, let me give you a kind reminder: when a woman becomes a victim of domestic abuse, she can use the law to protect herself."

"Besides, men who abuse their wives are the most useless of all."

"And since the Mercer family is unlikely to make a comeback, you might as well take this chance to find your next romance."

As soon as she said this, fury erupted in Julian Mercer’s eyes.

He looked like he wanted to march over and slap her twice.

"How dare you say that to my face! Do you still see me as your father?"

"What do you think?" Claire Mercer retorted.

"Isn’t the whole point of me being here today to terminate the agreement and sever all ties with you?"

Seeing this, Scarlett Jewel stepped forward, shaking her head and sighing at Claire Mercer.

"Sister, you really should work on that temper of yours."

"After all, Mom and Dad raised you. No matter how dissatisfied you are with them, you should at least be grateful for that, right?"

"Besides, this agreement hasn’t been signed yet. Until it is, you’re still a daughter of the Mercer family."

"As a daughter, how can you try to drive a wedge between our parents and encourage them to divorce?"

"Aren’t you afraid that if people outside find out, they’ll call you a heartless monster?"

Claire Mercer watched with cold contempt as Scarlett Jewel put on her act of a gentle, well-mannered, and understanding daughter.

Scarlett’s eyes, looking at her, glinted with amusement. She was the only person in the Mercer family who was "pleasant" to her.

’Of course. I’m about to cut ties with the Mercer family completely.’

’From now on, she’ll be the only young lady of the house.’

’She probably sees me as a defeated rival, which is why she’s smiling so happily.’

"Maybe one day, if Gavin Sinclair abuses you, you’d better just endure it. Don’t call the police, don’t fight back, and definitely don’t get a divorce, okay?"

After saying this, Claire Mercer gave her a cold, sneering glance, not bothering to waste another word on her.

She didn’t want to get into a verbal spat with any of them. It was a waste of time.

She walked over to the sofa and slowly sat down, her cold gaze sweeping over the group.

Then, she took out the "Termination of Adoption Agreement" she had prepared.

"If there are no problems, just sign it. Let’s not waste each other’s time."

Seeing his mother and sister get shut down one after another, Oscar Mercer couldn’t hold back anymore and cursed at her.

"You heartless jinx."

Hearing this, Claire Mercer shot him a cold glare and contemptuously spat out a few words.

"Ungrateful vampire."

The moment he heard the word "vampire," Oscar Mercer’s expression turned even uglier.

For the past week, he had been relentlessly berated online because of the blood transfusion Claire Mercer had given him.

Now, just seeing or hearing that word triggered a visceral disgust in him.

He was the esteemed CEO of the Mercer Group; no one had ever insulted him like this.

He had never been so humiliated as he was these past few days.

Even a young lady from a wealthy family he’d recently taken an interest in had blocked and deleted him because of it.

And it was all that bitch Claire Mercer’s fault.

"You ungrateful wolf."

Claire Mercer scoffed. "You have the audacity to call me ungrateful?"

"If my blood hadn’t saved you, the grass on your grave would be two meters high by now."

"Is this how you treat the person who saved your life?"

"Oscar Mercer, since you hate me and despise me so much, if you have any backbone, you’ll give me back all the blood I gave you."

"If you actually dared to do it, I’d respect you as a man."

"You can’t stand the sight of me, yet you use my blood..."

"Oscar Mercer, don’t you think you’re just pathetic? Truly pathetic?"

Oscar Mercer: "You...!"

"If you have any backbone, give me back all the blood I gave you."

Claire Mercer added crudely, "If you don’t have the guts, then stop running your damn mouth in front of me and shut your filthy trap."

"That’s enough," Julian Mercer snapped at Claire Mercer, his face cold.

"What’s with all the shouting? You start a fight the moment you walk into my house. Do you think this is a marketplace?"

Being yelled at by Julian Mercer like that, Claire Mercer’s temper flared up too.

’Oscar was the one who called me a jinx first. I was just refuting him with the facts.’

’Why is he yelling at *me*?’
