After Breaking the Persona, I Reach the Peak of My Life-Chapter 959 - 945: Preparation
"I miss you, too."
The words slowly slipped out as the call was hung up. Lying on her side on the bed, Bi Xia looked indifferently at the skyscrapers exposed through the open curtains, their colorful lights shimmering. The smile in her starry eyes gradually faded. She lifted her hand to turn on her phone again, glanced at the time displayed, and with a clear understanding, she thought for a moment, then got up from the bed and walked to the suitcase, squatting down to open it.
When the suitcase opened, the unsealed half of it spilled out with packages of snacks, among them was even some braised meat secretly stuffed in by Xia Shi.
The starlit eyes softened as she opened the bag of braised meat, reaching in to tear off a piece and pop it into her mouth, chewing it slowly.
Truth be told, although Bi Xia had learned so many skills, her cooking was just mediocre at best. At most, people would say it was tasty. She could replicate dishes she learned well enough but could never achieve Xia Shi’s level of excellence, where the taste, aroma, and appearance all came together to enchant those who tasted it.
As Xia Shi would say, cooking seemed simple but in reality, it required patience. The dish Bi Xia made best was the scrambled eggs with tomatoes she cooked as a child. Not only was that dish simple to prepare, but more importantly, it held special meaning for Bi Xia, giving her the patience to make it.
But now Bi Xia no longer had that kind of patience. She didn’t love cooking and didn’t have the patience for it. Her interests were now in Nine Pavilion, in X Group, and more importantly, in the future.
But... she tore off another piece of braised meat and held it in her mouth, sitting cross-legged on the floor with half-closed starry eyes, chewing. She had to admit, good cooking was truly amazing!
Her mom really had a knack, a model among women. Surely, if one were to marry, it should be someone like her mom.
Suddenly, she paused briefly, a person popped into her mind. Smiling, she clenched her fist. Ji Han! She can’t let you off so easily!
Things need to be completed faster here, or else during her absence, who knows if Ji Han might do something behind her back to her mom, which would be a total disadvantage to her!
Thinking of Ji Han reminded her of Ji Qiutang. Bi Xia snorted coldly, "All are pretentious hypocrites! One’s number one, the other’s number two!"
After stuffing the third piece of braised meat into her mouth, Bi Xia stood up, grabbed a tissue to wipe her hands, and threw it accurately into the trash can. She bent down to pick up the clothes she had prepared, drew the curtains, and changed out of the clothes she had been wearing.
After all, she had previously swaggered down Antique Street in that outfit and gotten into a fight. Wearing it again seemed too ostentatious, and besides... her lips curled slightly. They were about to engage in some undercover work soon.
Her ears twitched, catching the sound of a door opening and closing from the opposite room, then footsteps approaching her. In seconds, in just a few steps, a knocking sound was heard on her room door, "knock knock knock."
Knock knock knock.
Knock knock knock.
Knock knock knock.
Three knocks, all the same rhythm, the same intensity, were heard on Bi Xia’s room door. But after the three knocks, the knocking ceased, and no more sound was made, as if no one had ever knocked.
Ding dong—
A message came through on her phone; it was from Meng Chi: Boss, I’m going to get the car.
To avoid exposing their whereabouts, especially after her presence was revealed in the Antique Street, Bi Xia and Meng Chi had arranged that when it was time to leave, Meng Chi would first knock on her door with three sets of three knocks, then leave immediately to get the car, while Bi Xia would get to the car as quickly as possible. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Putting away her phone, Bi Xia stood in front of the mirror, looking at her already dressed self, putting on a baseball cap, then pulling up the hoodie. Wearing black ripped jeans and black Martin boots, she looked every bit like an edgy, middle-school rocker.
Leaving the hotel, she adjusted her cap. When Meng Chi slowly pulled the car up to the hotel entrance, a figure dashed by behind Bi Xia. Her starry eyes glanced over her shoulder, brow slightly furrowed, then sparkled with a hint of a smile, though all hidden under the brim of her cap.
