After Being Betrayed I Married the Glamorous CEO-Chapter 98: Do I Have a Say Now?
At that moment, Shen Fanyun was unaware that he had received such high praise from Lin Meiqing: a man who dared to think and dared to act. The first step, "daring to think," was complete, and he had already achieved an initial victory.
As for the second step...
「The next day.」
Shen Fanyun arrived at Su Xiyang’s company.
Having completely fallen out with her grandfather, Su Xiyang was there to pack up her personal belongings. It was her last day at the company. The atmosphere throughout the office was very oppressive.
When Lin Jia saw Shen Fanyun, she had lost her usual liveliness. She greeted him with furrowed brows and a listless tone, "Director, good morning."
Shen Fanyun nodded in response.
"Director, has the President really decided to leave?" Lin Jia asked urgently. In an instant, all eyes were fixed on Shen Fanyun, silently awaiting his answer.
"According to the plan Su Xiyang and I have, the company will be restructured," Shen Fanyun said calmly, changing the subject. "If you still plan to follow Su Xiyang, you can transfer to the new company directly. As for salary, everyone will get a raise of one-third from their current pay."
Lin Jia was stunned.
The crowd was dumbfounded.
Wasn’t Su Xiyang ousted by the Su Family? In other words, shouldn’t this be her most difficult time? How could she not only take on all of them but also give them a one-third raise?
"By the way," Shen Fanyun added, "the first month’s salary will be paid in advance."
After all, everyone was uncertain. If they rashly resigned to join Su Xiyang’s new company, but she didn’t have sufficient funds to pay their salaries, wouldn’t that leave them high and dry?
"Really?" Lin Jia’s eyes lit up.
If that was the case, they would have no worries. While they cherished their bond with Su Xiyang, they also had to consider their own livelihoods and security.
"Then I’ll go write my resignation letter right now." Lin Jia beat a hasty retreat. The remaining employees, snapping to their senses, collectively began writing their resignations.
To Shen Fanyun, money was merely a string of dull, pale, seemingly endless numbers. As long as Su Xiyang had decided to leave, he would arrange everything else, just as he was doing now.
In the office, Su Xiyang had already packed up her personal items. At this moment, she was sitting in the CEO’s chair, stroking a picture frame. It held a photo of her twenty-year-old self and had sat on her desk for many years.
"You’re just starting a new business. There’s no need to be so sentimental," Shen Fanyun joked.
Su Xiyang was not in high spirits. "I’ve just gotten used to it."
THUD, THUD, THUD!
A series of heavy footsteps grew louder as they approached. Then, with a BANG, the office door was flung open.
Su Xiyang was clearly startled. However, with Shen Fanyun there, she quickly regained her composure.
"Su Xiyang, I hear you’re planning to run off?" The burly man leading the group was stout and around fifty years old, with a mouth full of tobacco stains and a fleshy face.
Su Xiyang furrowed her brows. "Run off?"
She recognized this man. His name was Wang Fuqing, and he was one of the company’s business partners. Wang Fuqing had initially been introduced to her by Su Ke.
"Boss Wang, what’s with the aggressive entrance? What are you planning to do?" Su Xiyang could tell this visitor had ill intentions.
Wang Fuqing scoffed, slamming a contract onto the desk in front of Su Xiyang. His tone was cold. "What else could I be doing? I’m here to collect a debt."
"Collect a debt?" Su Xiyang was confused; she had no financial disputes with Wang Fuqing. "Are you sure?" she pressed.
"Your grandfather borrowed fifteen million from me and agreed to settle it in three years," Wang Fuqing asserted. "But yesterday, he suddenly informed me that he had transferred this debt to you, Su Xiyang."
Borrowed by Su Ke? Su Xiyang understood immediately. The old man was trying to cause trouble for her again. A fifteen-million loan definitely existed, but she was not the borrower.
"The one surnamed Su isn’t dead yet," Su Xiyang said. "Go ask him for it."
"Hmm?" Wang Fuqing was slightly stunned. How can Su Xiyang be so disrespectful to her own grandfather? "Su Xiyang, are you trying to play tricks on me?"
"Whether it’s your grandfather or you, the money went to your Su Family," Wang Fuqing said. "Fifteen million in principal plus five million in interest totals twenty million. That old bastard claims he won’t deal with this debt, so if I don’t come to you, who do I go to? You, Su Xiyang, can’t avoid this, and you can’t run from it."
Su Xiyang’s expression was placid. "You go find whoever signed the loan agreement. Don’t cause a scene here. I don’t have time to waste on you."
Wang Fuqing was left speechless.
Shen Fanyun had remained silent, but one thing Wang Fuqing said piqued his interest. A fifteen-million loan accrues five million in interest over three years? What a lucrative business!
"Su Xiyang, there’s no debt in Hangcheng City that I, Wang Fuqing, can’t collect. Think carefully before you speak again," Wang Fuqing said, his patience clearly wearing thin.
He slammed his palm down heavily on the table, his face ferocious.
Shen Fanyun was amused. Paying your debts is a matter of course; there’s nothing wrong with that. But this money has nothing to do with Su Xiyang! Why should she have to repay it? And to top it off, this Wang Fuqing is resorting to threats?
"It’s fine if you don’t pay today, but we must sign a new supplementary contract," Wang Fuqing declared. "The contract will state that you, Su Xiyang, acknowledge the existence of this loan and, as the principal debtor, will repay it within the next year!"
Wang Fuqing had come fully prepared, even bringing a second contract. He was determined to make Su Xiyang accept this debt.
SLAP!
He smacked the contract down on the desk, signaling for Su Xiyang to sign quickly.
Su Xiyang’s face turned cold with anger. "Are you trying to strong-arm me? Why should I sign?"
"You dare refuse!" Wang Fuqing shot a look at his subordinates. Two of them started forward, intending to grab Su Xiyang’s hand and force her to sign. The others guarded the door, deliberately revealing the short blades tucked at their waists.
Helpless, Shen Fanyun cleared his throat and finally spoke up. "Gentlemen, am I just invisible to you?"
He then pointed at the contract and said earnestly, "Since Su Ke is the signatory, you should go find him. Forcing Su Xiyang to accept this debt is completely unreasonable. She wasn’t the beneficiary, and she never even saw the money. How is that appropriate?"
"Where did this little punk come from? Do you have any right to speak here? Shut the hell up!" Wang Fuqing’s gaze turned icy as he sneered at Shen Fanyun.
"Oh?" Shen Fanyun raised an eyebrow. His hand shot out, grabbing Wang Fuqing by the head and smashing his face onto the solid wood desk. "Do I have a say now?"
Wang Fuqing was stunned.
Everyone was stunned.
"Damn it, what the hell do you think you’re doing?" Wang Fuqing was dumbfounded. He never imagined Shen Fanyun would be so brutally direct, resorting to violence without another word.
Shen Fanyun signaled Su Xiyang to move away.
Su Xiyang immediately got up, crossed her arms, and stood by the floor-to-ceiling window.
