Chapter 76: Chapter 76: Are you teaching me how to do things? Tired of living?!

"Don’t worry. Since their target is me, Ziye will be fine," Su Xiyang said. "I’m heading over now."

She took one last look at Old Master Su. He was leaning on his cane with both hands, feigning deep thought, too preoccupied to pay her any mind. Su Xiyang’s hope was completely extinguished.

It seemed the old master wouldn’t say anything out of concern or care for her before she left.

"Why are you wasting time? Hurry up and go!" Chen Wen urged, pressing Su Xiyang to make haste. A life was at stake, and not a single second could be wasted.

Su Xiyang grabbed the car keys from the table and turned to leave. Shen Fanyun also moved to follow.

"Stop!" Unexpectedly, Chen Wen called out to him from behind.

Shen Fanyun reluctantly turned back.

Chen Wen reasoned, "The kidnappers’ message was clear: Su Xiyang is to go alone. You are not allowed to follow her. What if you going with her displeases them and they kill Ziye?"

Suspecting that Shen Fanyun intended to leave with Su Xiyang, she moved to prohibit him from going.

Shen Fanyun chuckled. "Your daughter gets killed, so what? What’s that to me? I’m not a member of the Su Family. I’ll go wherever I please. Do you think you can stop me?"

Chen Wen was left speechless. His words were crude, but they were true. Shen Fanyun bore the surname Shen and had no real ties to the Su Family. At most, he maintained a good relationship with Su Xiyang; beyond that, he didn’t interact with any of them.

For a moment, Chen Wen stood frozen, seething with rage. Shen Fanyun’s brazen attitude, combined with his utter disregard for her daughter’s life, filled her with indignation. "Faced with a life in danger, you can be so indifferent. Heh. You truly are a cold-hearted bastard!"

Shen Fanyun arched an eyebrow. "Are you trying to lecture me on morality?"

He pointed casually in the direction Su Xiyang had left. "Your daughter’s life is a life, but hers isn’t? How can you even say something like that? And you have the audacity to criticize someone else for being cold-hearted, for lacking the most basic concern for a person’s life?"

The luxuriously dressed woman was stunned. She had never imagined Shen Fanyun’s tongue could be so sharp, leaving her utterly speechless in just a few sentences.

However, Chen Wen still asserted herself forcefully. "In any case, without my permission, you’re not going anywhere. We’ll talk after Ziye returns safely."

"Oh?" Shen Fanyun raised an eyebrow, his gaze shifting to the silent Old Master Su.

Old Master Su knew that Shen Fanyun was not someone to be taken lightly and was just about to speak. But Shen Fanyun’s hand shot out, grabbing Chen Wen by the neck and hoisting her into the air. "What’s this? Are you trying to tell me what to do? Are you tired of living? You dare block my path?"

Chen Wen couldn’t make a sound.

Old Master Su was speechless.

No one had anticipated that Shen Fanyun would be so ruthless. Without another word, he had lifted Chen Wen as if she were a little chicken. She had never been in such a terrifying situation. In an instant, her breathing grew ragged, and she began to cough uncontrollably. She opened her mouth to speak, but Shen Fanyun’s grip tightened. She flailed her arms weakly, trying to signal to the old master for help.

Su Ke was equally dumbstruck. This man is too presumptuous. This is Su Family territory, after all. How can anyone tolerate an outsider like Shen Fanyun acting so arrogantly?

"Next time you see me, remember to be more polite."

Shen Fanyun couldn’t be bothered to waste any more time on the beasts in the room. He let go of Chen Wen, turned, and strode away.

Chen Wen collapsed to the floor, her voice raw as she demanded of Su Ke, "Old Master, you’re just going to let him go like that? What if he breaks the rules and causes them to kill Ziye? This is a matter of life and death! We can’t just stand by and do nothing!"

Old Master Su remained silent. He had witnessed Shen Fanyun’s methods before and knew that, given the Su Family’s current power, there was little hope of detaining him unprepared.

At the same time, Su Ke’s feelings grew complicated. He stared in the direction Su Xiyang had gone, silent for a long, long time.

Su Xiyang started the car but hadn’t yet driven off when Shen Fanyun yanked open the passenger door and slid gracefully into the seat.

At that moment, the beautiful woman’s eyes were brimming with tears. Her face was wan, and her lips were completely devoid of color.

"I’ll... I’ll go by myself," Su Xiyang told him, asking him to get out of the car.

Shen Fanyun ignored her. He took out a tissue and gently wiped the tear stains from her face. "A girl’s tears are pearls," he said softly. "They shouldn’t fall so easily."

Su Xiyang managed a nonchalant, "Oh."

But deep inside, she was in agony, as if her heart were bleeding. She was also his biological granddaughter, so why could Old Master Su and all the other family elders abandon her without a second thought when it came time to choose? It was as if she’d been picked up off the street! She was always well-behaved and obedient. She always conducted herself with the Su Family’s reputation in mind, terrified that one misstep would reflect poorly on them. Yet, it was all useless!

"Do I look like a mess right now?" Su Xiyang asked, her hands gripping the steering wheel.

"Not at all," Shen Fanyun said.

"I just hope Ziye is okay," Su Xiyang murmured.

This foolish woman. Even at this critical juncture, she’s still thinking of others? Sometimes, it’s better to be selfish. Besides, we all only get one life. Why should anyone have to give in to others and put them first? Su Ziye getting kidnapped is just her own bad luck. It can’t be blamed on Su Xiyang!

"I’ll go alone. You can get out at the next intersection," Su Xiyang insisted, determined to follow the kidnappers’ instructions to prevent any harm from coming to Su Ziye.

"Can you handle this by yourself?" Shen Fanyun asked.

"I don’t know," she said, shaking her head.

"Have you considered the possibility that if you go alone, neither you nor Su Ziye will be coming back?" Shen Fanyun asked, turning to face her.

Su Xiyang’s expression froze. She hadn’t considered that. Even Old Master Su hadn’t mentioned it.

"They should keep their promise, right? After all, I’m their main target!" she murmured after a moment of hesitation.

Shen Fanyun sighed and shook his head. "They’re already in the business of kidnapping. You really expect them to keep a promise? If criminals were that trustworthy, they wouldn’t be criminals."

"I’ll go with you. At the very least, I can operate from the shadows while you’re out in the open. You won’t be in danger with me there."

After saying this, Shen Fanyun fell silent. He used Su Xiyang’s phone to find Su Ziye’s number and immediately sent it to Zhan Feng, along with a recent photo of her.

"Find this person. As soon as possible," Shen Fanyun typed, hitting send.

Zhan Feng’s reply was immediate. "Understood!"

With that confirmation, Shen Fanyun leaned back in his seat and clasped his hands behind his head.

In this world, unless the person he was looking for was already dead and buried, there was no one he couldn’t find.
