Meanwhile, Shen Fanyun was comfortably catching up on sleep at home. When he woke up, fruit and pastries were already waiting for him. "Ah, in the blink of an eye, I’m already in my thirties," Shen Fanyun sighed, lamenting how quickly time flew.

His parents’ hair had gradually turned white. The only comfort was that the two elders had always been in good health, free of illness and misfortune. Now that they were enjoying their golden years, the return of their eldest son seemed to make all their years of anticipation and hardship worthwhile.

"Awake already?" his mother asked, looking up with a smile. "I made some mung bean soup for you. Want some?"

Shen Fanyun did not refuse. "Sure."

While drinking, he checked his phone and found a missed call from Li Ruoshui. He had set his phone to silent while he was sleeping, so he’d missed it.

"It’s been a while since I’ve seen our little Ruoshui," Shen Fanyun muttered. He hastily finished the mung bean soup and called out to his parents, "I’m stepping out for a bit."

"Come home for dinner."

"Stay safe."

Zhan Feng had some rare free time to pick him up today, but upon seeing Shen Fanyun, he hesitated, clearly with something on his mind.

"What’s wrong?" Shen Fanyun asked.

"A group of unidentified people showed up today. They’ve all been taken care of," Zhan Feng reported.

Shen Fanyun raised an eyebrow. He guessed Han Long couldn’t sit still any longer and was making a move against him and his family. That old fox. Just like back then, he’s still so vile and shameless, resorting to any underhanded trick without hesitation.

This feud was, at its core, a direct confrontation between him, Shen Fanyun, and Han Long. What kind of hero attacks innocent people? Then again, if Han Long were any kind of honorable man, he never would have done those vile, shameless things back then.

"For the next few days, don’t do anything else," Shen Fanyun instructed. "First, stay at my house. Second, arrange for people to keep watch over the neighborhood. Oh, and keep a close eye on Xiaofan, too."

Zhan Feng nodded. "Understood."

When he arrived at Hangcheng University, Shen Fanyun didn’t see Li Ruoshui right away, so he meandered toward her temporary dormitory.

Shen Fanyun couldn’t help but chuckle. Well, if it isn’t two familiar faces. It was Hong Tao and Liu Bing.

The two of them hadn’t had it easy lately. After being called out and rebuked by Lu Feiyan, they hadn’t dared to respond. So why were they looking for Li Ruoshui now?

With her back to him, Liu Bing didn’t see Shen Fanyun arrive. She was still berating Li Ruoshui, who had already spotted him.

"Li Ruoshui, we’re classmates, after all. Why is asking for a little help so difficult?"

Li Ruoshui stood with her hands behind her back, the smile in her eyes widening.

"Asking for help with such an attitude? What’s going to happen if she doesn’t help you? And you’re the one with a bad temper?" Shen Fanyun sneered, striding to Li Ruoshui’s side.

Liu Bing and Hong Tao were completely startled. They had never expected Shen Fanyun to appear. Seeing how close he and Li Ruoshui were, Liu Bing had a sudden realization. Did Li Ruoshui secretly contact Shen Fanyun? That bitch! To think she’d sell us out.

"Li Ruoshui, I came to you for help because we’re classmates! It’s one thing if you won’t help, but to betray me... you, you..."

Shen Fanyun scoffed. "And what are you, exactly? You think she can’t live without you talking to her? So young, yet you say such idiotic things."

"What did she want from you?" Shen Fanyun asked Li Ruoshui.

Li Ruoshui leaned close to Shen Fanyun’s ear and briefly explained the situation.

Shen Fanyun’s expression grew increasingly entertained. So, this whole thing involves me?

Because Lu Feiyan was putting too much pressure on them, Hong Tao and Liu Bing couldn’t just ignore it, so they thought of Li Ruoshui. They wanted to use her connections to reach Lu Feiyan, or even Shen Fanyun himself. They wanted Lu Feiyan to retract her accusations. On top of that, they wanted Lu Feiyan to issue a formal public apology to them for her previous disrespectful statements!

"You two have some nerve," Shen Fanyun snarled. "Apologize to you?" With that, he slapped Liu Bing hard across the face.

The blow split her skin. Blood sprayed out, spattering Hong Tao’s nearby face.

Hong Tao sucked in a sharp breath. His hair stood on end, his heart nearly leaping out of his chest in fright.

Liu Bing was even more shocked. She never expected Shen Fanyun to be so vicious, to strike so suddenly with no regard for the fact that they were classmates.

"You... you hit me?" Liu Bing seethed.

Shen Fanyun scoffed. Forget the reason. Anyone with an attitude like that while asking for a favor deserved to be slapped. Threatening someone you need help from? If you’re that capable, solve it yourself. Playing the whore while demanding a monument to your virtue? Did she really think everyone would indulge her?

Shen Fanyun backhanded her across the face again. "If you want to act like a bitch, go do it somewhere else," he said coldly. "Who the hell do you think you are, acting so high and mighty in front of Ruoshui? Do you even have the right?

"Say one more word. I dare you.

"I’ll make sure you leave this place lying down today. Why don’t you try and see if I’m joking!"

Liu Bing said nothing. Her mouth was full of blood as she clutched her throbbing face, at a loss for words. Both of her cheeks burned with a fiery pain.
