Shen Fanyun was now the Head of the Security Department for Su Xiyang’s company, even if it was a self-appointed position.
"Good morning, Minister Shen."
"Minister Shen, good morning! Do you need me to prepare some coffee for you?"
As soon as he entered the company, a group of employees greeted Shen Fanyun enthusiastically. Since he was handsome, the majority of them were young women.
Shen Fanyun felt helpless. That day, in order to get Su Xiyang out of a jam, he had given himself the title of Head of Security. In reality, he had no connection to Su Xiyang’s company. This impromptu act, however, had led to a misunderstanding among everyone.

"Minister Shen, people from the relevant department are coming for a security inspection today. You’ll need to accompany them on-site. The appointment is scheduled for ten o’clock."
"Minister, I’ll remind you when it’s time!" another sweet-looking girl said earnestly, holding a large stack of folders.
Shen Fanyun sized her up and had to admit the girl was quite pretty. She probably hadn’t been in the professional world for long, as her face still held a touch of youthful innocence.
A college student?
"What’s your name?" Shen Fanyun asked.
"My name is Lin Jia," the girl replied. "You can just call me Little Lin."
"’Little Lin?’" Shen Fanyun hummed. "Go make me a cup of coffee."
Lin Jia nodded, swaying her hips in her gray miniskirt as she walked away.
She must not have been out of school for long. Though she tried to dress more maturely, she clearly didn’t have a good sense of her own figure. That skirt was far too tight and didn’t create a flattering silhouette at all.
The distraction almost made Shen Fanyun forget his real purpose for being there. With everyone calling him "Minister" this and "Minister" that with such reverence, Shen Fanyun almost deluded himself into thinking he actually worked for the company.
"Mr Chen, I’m so sorry. I had to take care of something and couldn’t greet you right away. This way, please. This way."
A familiar voice reached Shen Fanyun’s ears.
Lu Qi!
Shen Fanyun had a vivid memory of this strange woman—an employee who dared to give her own boss, the President, an attitude.
Wasn’t she fired? Why is she here again?
"What are you all standing there for? Can’t you see the head of the security inspection is here? Hurry up and greet him," Lu Qi ordered, resuming her role as a domineering boss as she lorded over the lobby.
Everyone flinched. Lu Qi had evidently been a force to be reckoned with at the company, and the staff were all wary of her.
Lin Jia, who was busy getting Shen Fanyun’s coffee, happened to walk over just then. Lu Qi, who had been in a foul mood for days, found the sudden appearance of Lin Jia intensely irritating.
"Have you no sense? Get out of the way!" Lu Qi snapped. "Are you itching for a beating?"
When Lu Qi raised her hand, Lin Jia instinctively flinched, shrinking back. Her conditioned reflex made Shen Fanyun suspicious.
In the past, Lu Qi must have frequently abused her authority, using Lin Jia as a punching bag and perhaps even hitting her on several occasions. It would explain why Lin Jia is so terrified of her.
"I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. It’s my fault." Lin Jia, who had been smiling sweetly just moments before, turned pale and hastily stood aside.
Lu Qi smirked and smiled at the so-called head of the security inspection beside her. "My subordinates don’t know their place. I was just teaching her a lesson. My apologies for the embarrassing display."
"Has she hit you before?" Shen Fanyun asked, leaning close to Lin Jia.
Lin Jia recoiled, biting her lower lip as she shook her head. "M-Minister Shen, no, of course not!"
Shen Fanyun sighed. Bullying in school, bullying in the workplace... these things are all too common.
"She isn’t even an employee of this company anymore. What are you afraid of?" Clasping his hands behind his back, Shen Fanyun surprisingly looked the part of a leader. "I was wondering who was making such a racket, like a dog barking. Isn’t this Manager Lu, the one President Su kicked to the curb yesterday?"
The group of employees, especially Lin Jia, was stunned by his words. As the saying goes, a person’s reputation precedes them. Lu Qi was the company’s notorious "tigress"—domineering, decisive, and known for scolding subordinates into submission. After being oppressed for so long, everyone had a natural fear of her. This was the first time anyone had ever dared to openly rebuke Lu Qi in front of so many people, comparing her to a barking dog. They couldn’t quite process it.
"You again!" Lu Qi’s face darkened.

"You probably don’t know yet, do you? My resignation was rejected," she declared. "In other words, I’m still a senior executive at this company. Oh, and my new letter of appointment will take effect very soon."
Shen Fanyun was baffled. What the hell? A firing can be rejected? Just yesterday, President Su clearly told her to get lost, and Lu Qi couldn’t even argue, she just had to leave. How could this foul-mouthed woman be back in her old position after just one night? Isn’t this Su Xiyang’s company? How can the big boss personally fire someone and they still don’t leave?
Shen Fanyun guessed that the internal politics of Su Xiyang’s company must be very complex. It was possible that Su Xiyang was just a figurehead without much real authority. Even when she did exercise her power, she would face subsequent interference.
"Lu Qi is the vice president’s confidante. The vice president was the one who promoted her, specifically to keep an eye on President Su," Lin Jia whispered.

Lin Jia then added that the vice president and Su Xiyang were family.
Shen Fanyun understood immediately. So she’s one of Su Ziye’s people. No wonder Lu Qi is so audacious, daring to openly challenge Su Xiyang. She has a powerful backer!
"You must be blind to go against me," Lu Qi sneered. She then added, "You and your worthless position as Head of Security can wait to be sacked. The moment my new appointment is effective, I’ll fire you on the spot!"
"So, it’s not effective yet?" Shen Fanyun pressed.
"It becomes effective at two o’clock this afternoon."
Lu Qi clasped her hands behind her back and said haughtily, "That gives you three hours to think about it. You can either kneel and apologize to me, or pack your things and wait to be thrown out!"
"I won’t be doing that." Shen Fanyun stepped in front of Lu Qi. "Since it won’t be effective for another three hours, that means right now, you’re an outsider. And what gives an outsider the right to come in here and shout at everyone?"
SMACK!
Shen Fanyun swung his hand, slapping her across the face so hard she stumbled, and blood trickled from the corner of her mouth.
The onlookers were speechless. Lu Qi was stunned.
"Since you’re not a senior executive, who gave you the right to be so arrogant? Ordering this person around, scolding that one... Do you really think you’re somebody?"
SMACK!
Another slap landed. One moment, Lu Qi had been gloating about her impending return to power to challenge Su Xiyang; the next, her face was completely swollen.
The employees exchanged stunned glances. This new Head of Security is truly ferocious!
