After a Contractual Marriage, Little Taotie Went Viral!-Chapter 229 - 227: Next Time... I’ll Let You ’Bully’ Me
Yang Leqi was already munching on a strawberry toffee apple, taking a big bite out of the topmost one, and muttered, "Oh, once it’s aired and your agent sees it, I hope you can still be as self-righteous."
Wang Sirui took one too, "We’ll deal with it then."
"How’s your practice coming along?" asked Qin Yun.
Chen Yao came over from the side, "Almost there, but still not very skilled. A few more practices and it should be alright. Give me one too, I desperately need to replenish my energy; practicing dance is exhausting, after this I never want to touch dancing again in my life."
Yang Leqi burst out laughing at his words.
Making a tough guy fear something like this is quite the feat.
After eating, Chen Yao and Qin Hao started practicing again with renewed effort.
They worked until well past one in the afternoon, having reached a presentable level. At least their movements weren’t so stiff anymore. Though they still made mistakes, it was miles better than at the beginning.
The three of them prepared to give it a try while Qin Yun and the others moved on to the next task.
The second task was an object identification from pictures, where they had to find the items shown in the photos, and verify them by taking pictures. Whoever completed it first would win.
Upon seeing the task cards and photos inside the envelope, the three carefully examined the contents of the photos.
"This thing feels kinda familiar to me," Yang Leqi pondered, stroking her chin.
"I know where these two are," Pei Yan picked out two of the photos from the bunch.
"This one I remember, just where we went to buy the toffee apples, there’s a little alley we passed by. I noticed the bell on the eaves looks just like this one," Qin Yun said, pointing at a bell-shaped photo, recalling the sight.
Pei Yan gave it a glance and said, taking the photo with him, "Let’s shoot this first, it’s the closest."
The three of them hurried to the little alley next to where they bought the toffee apples.
"Looks like it, should be the one, let’s shoot first and worry later," Yang Leqi looked up at the bell hanging under the eaves, although not very clearly seen, it felt just right.
She took out her phone and snapped a picture of the bell.
"I just recalled that thing looking like a harp string while verifying the dance. Seems like it was in that room. When I swept past, I think I glimpsed it," Yang Leqi, upon zooming into her picture, suddenly had a flash of inspiration and exclaimed.
"We still have nine left to shoot. These two are near the entrance, where we got off. They are close to each other but a bit far from here. We can grab them last but let’s shoot the harp strings first," Pei Yan scanned through the pictures again and commented.
"Alright." Qin Yun and Yang Leqi nodded.
The three went to the first task verification spot, unexpectedly finding Wang Sirui and his team dancing there.
Their appearance immediately caught Wang Sirui’s team’s attention. Although they continued dancing, the interruption made their performance less coordinated, failing the verification.
Wang Sirui squatted down, painfully clutching his hair, "Argh! You had to show up now! This was our best run!"
Yang Leqi shrugged helplessly, "We can’t help it; we’ve got a task to do here."
During the conversation, Pei Yan already snapped a photo of the harp behind the door and said, "Let’s go."
"Keep it up, we’re retreating now," Yang Leqi said with a smile, running off.
Left behind, the failed trio looked at each other, all crestfallen.
"Let’s go again! This time we’ll pass for sure!" Chen Yao said determinedly, taking a deep breath.
This time, without any interruptions from Yang Leqi and the others, they smoothly got through and received the next task card.
The photos assigned were different for each team. Qin Yun’s team was far ahead, while Wang Sirui’s team just started and quickly checked their task content as soon as they received it.
Qin Yun’s team had just entered a shop, asking the owner if they knew where to find the items in the photos. To their surprise, the owner did recognize some.
There were two, inside a nearby ancestral hall — a dragon-patterned pillar, and an old stone tablet.
After snapping those two photos, they immediately headed to the entrance they came through. One of the tasks was to capture the couplet on either side of the entrance, and another was the tools used to make oiled paper umbrellas from their first task. By then, they had only shot four, with six remaining.
Meanwhile, Chen Yao’s team, not knowing where the items were, adopted a people-asking tactic. After querying several folks, one person finally recognized one item from a photo, prompting the three to rush and shoot it.
The gate was somewhat far, and after Qin Yun’s team had shot the two photos there, Chen Yao’s team had surprisingly caught up with four.
The two teams were close in progress, frantically racing against time.
On the return journey, Qin Yun’s team ran into Wang Sirui’s.
"Sister Yun, how many have you shot?" Wang Sirui hurriedly asked.
"Seven," Qin Yun replied.
"Argh! We’ve only shot four," Wang Sirui exclaimed.
"Qin Hao!" Wang Sirui immediately threw a glance at Qin Hao, and they both tried to stall Pei Yan.
"Brother Yao! Hurry and find them!" Wang Sirui yelled to Chen Yao while holding onto Pei Yan.
Qin Hao hesitated for a second before quickly moving in to pin Pei Yan from another side.
Chen Yao face-palmed, not wanting to partake in their foolishness.
Pei Yan, trapped, didn’t flinch, glancing over at Qin Yun, who was watching the spectacle with arms crossed.
Amusement sparkled in Pei Yan’s deep eyes, and he raised an eyebrow: Enjoying the show?
Qin Yun nodded, indicting ’Not bad’ with her chin.
Then, she looked flatly at the two, prompting Wang Sirui to notice something wasn’t right, why wasn’t the plan working?
He looked at Pei Yan, intimidated by his gaze, instinctively wanting to loosen his grip.
Yang Leqi was dumbstruck by their antics, asking Qin Yun in confusion, "Is this okay?"
Before Qin Yun could respond, Pei Yan stepped in, separating the two.
Upon seeing this, Yang Leqi’s eyes sparkled, turning into a little fangirl, "Ahh! Mr. Pei is so cool!"
Wang Sirui was abruptly pulled away, meeting Qin Hao’s equally bewildered gaze, both confused, "??"
"Alright, let’s go," Pei Yan said nonchalantly.
Qin Yun sighed, regretfully looking at Wang Sirui and Qin Hao, how did they so easily get separated by Pei Yan!!
"Really want to see me get bullied?" Pei Yan caught her expression and joked.
Qin Yun shook her head, "Not necessarily, I still prefer to personally beat you."
But it didn’t stop her from wanting to see Pei Yan embarrassed.
"Next time... I’ll let you ’bully’," Pei Yan whispered gently in her ear.
