Affinity: Chaos-Chapter 1794: City Lord Vaughn II
The Old man from the McCall Family didn't waste any time, calling in the young man around Grey's age to take Grey away while he went to call the Ancestors of the McCall Family. They were the ones who made the decisions, well at least that was what he told Grey.
The young man led Grey to a room that was neatly cleaned. He didn't say a word throughout the entire time as he led Grey, and neither did Grey speak. After leading Grey to his room, the young man turned to leave.
"Please, if you don't find it inconvenient, can you answer a few questions of mine?" Grey stood at the entrance of the room and asked with a friendly tone.
The young man thought about it and nodded. Grey invited him into the room, and he entered.
The room was quite simple, having only two chairs, a table, and a wooden bed. Grey took a seat, inviting the young man to do the same. He noticed that the young man had his eyes on him all through, not only that, he also doesn't do anything without Grey speaking up first.
"I'd like to know what kind of person the City Lord is." Grey wanted to know what kind of person the City Lord was. If the City Lord is a ruthless individual, then the McCall Family can not continue staying here. Lord Harry saying he wanted to start over didn't mean that the disgrace they will most likely face with the continued existence of the McCall Family won't go away. He knew the reason they didn't attack him was purely due to their fear of the force behind him and not being able to keep him there.
"Oh, City Lord Vaughn?" The young man didn't expect Grey to want to ask about the City Lord, heaving a sigh of relief, he told Grey all he knew about the City Lord of Raging Flames City.
Raging Flames City Lord is quite famous across his region and his strength is well known. It's rumored that he's only an Eighth stage Sovereign, but he had once defeated a Ninth stage Sovereign. It's unknown if the rumor is true or false, one thing everyone is certain of is that City Lord Vaughn isn't an ordinary Eighth stage Sovereign. This was because a few years back, a powerful Monster Beast attacked. The Beast had the strength of an average Ninth stage Sovereign. City Lord Vaughn was the one who single-handedly fought off this Monster Beast, ensuring the safety of Raging Flames City's millions of lives.
City Lord Vaughn's fame grew after that incident. Cementing his position as one of the top experts in this region. He already has the position of an Elder in the Raging Flames Faction, and he is under the wings of the Young Master of the Raging Flames Faction.
Grey didn't interrupt the young man as he spoke about the City Lord. He asked a few more questions and he could only shake his head in defeat. All the things the young man knew about City Lord Vaughn didn't say anything about who he is. Without understanding the type of character the City Lord was, Grey didn't want to carelessly drop his guard.
The allowed the young man leave as he started to come up with potential countermeasures if the City Lord brought other experts to surround him. With this thought in mind, Grey's figure vanished from where he was sitting in the McCall Family Manor. He needed to make some arrangements, and the time the Old man was using to speak with the others should be more than enough for him to sort this out. Moreover, with his strength, there was no way anyone below the Sixth stage of the Sovereign Plane could sense him. The McCall Family didn't have a single Sovereign, therefore, he had nothing to worry about and could work without fear.
Later that day.
The City Lord's Manor.
City Lord Vaughn and Lord Harry were seated in a room, both staring at the map before them.
"Don't you think it's too dangerous?" Lord Harry wore a solemn expression on his face.
"You know just how much I've been chasing the next stage. With this thing, I can achieve it." City Lord Vaughn replied seriously. His face didn't show any signs of hesitation, showing how resolute he was.
"Are you sure that he will be helpful?"
"I'm positive. I sensed the threat of death that day. Do you think someone who isn't at least as strong as I am can threaten me?"
"I have no reason to doubt your words. It's just that I feel like City Lord should reconsider seeking the help of an unknown child for such an importance of the matter."
"Enough! I've made my choice. You'll head out to invite him here when the time is near. For now, keep an eye on him." City Lord Vaughn passed out an order. He couldn't let someone as powerful as Grey walk around unsupervised in his city.
Lord Harry bowed to acknowledge the order before leaving. His task at the moment was to keep his eyes on Grey.
…
The McCall Manor.
It was only after a few hours did the Old man call for Grey after separating the last time. Grey was already done with all his preparations at the time, so when he was summoned, he arranged his clothes and headed into the McCall Manor.
He wasn't led to the same Hall as the first time, rather, he was taken deep into the Manor. A few turns later, he was standing before an old building. The guard who led him here stood at the entrance to the building.
Even before entering, Grey could sense the aura of multiple Peak Venerables. Opening the door, he walked in to the sight of six figures. All six figures were old, and he only recognized one, the Old man he had previously seen. All six were Peak Venerables.
