Affinity: Chaos-Chapter 1567 Hunt For A Test Subject
Grey spoke with both his father and his mother about his plan to use himself as bait to draw most of the Gnomes into the God's tomb. Not just that, with the speed at which he is improving, the Gnomes would not want him to break through to the God Plane since even then, their God Plane Elementalists that were overseeing their world would be in danger.
Grey is already very dangerous as it is. With his current strength, only Gnomes in the Mid stages can stand against him and the chances of them defeating him is also very slim, so they needed Late stage Sovereigns, powerful ones that will be able to quickly dispatch him. They all knew he had a lot of tricks up his sleeves, hence the reason he has been able to escape every assassination attempt and even the few times he fought against stronger opponents, he tends to always escape.
Lucas and Martha felt allowing Grey to come into the God's tomb was too dangerous for him, especially with the Necromancers going with them. But then Grey gave them the news of the Necromancers having vessels and wanting to stock them with Sovereigns who would then enter from the human side and would most likely wait until the humans and the Gnomes clash before coming out. Having such a good number of people suddenly coming out means that the humans would find it hard to defend and will suffer from unimaginable losses.
Being the only one able to identify these people meant that they had to take Grey. The thought of being able to kill those Necromancers while wiping out a large number of Gnome Sovereigns was very tempting. This was a good opportunity for Grey to fish out many Necromancers, and Lucas was also planning on using this chance to purge the humans of Necromancers.
Of course, there will be a few top ones that they can't locate, but with most of the weaker ones dead, the top ones will lay lower than what they're doing right now and wouldn't want to attract the ire of the other top experts.
Grey and his parents spoke and he agreed to help them fish out Necromancers. He decided to go as far as creating a technique that will enable him to locate even those hiding Necromancers, he has already gotten a way to locate them, but those hiding in plain sight are harder to sense, and they are the most dangerous ones.
For that, he would need a candidate to be researched on, of course, no Necromancer will willingly agree to be experimented on, but that's where the part they're hated by almost everyone comes into play. Grey wouldn't feel any remorse while conducting his research on the test subject they would capture from a hideout soon enough.
He felt the stronger the test subject, the better.
When his friends heard about his intentions to kidnap a Third stage Necromancer, they were bamboozled, but also thrilled. A Third stage Necromancer would push them to the limit, at least if they weren't all fighting against the Necromancer.
Individually, they could at least exchange a few moves, but they will be completely overpowered within a short time and defeated. So they will try to fight two against one and use the Third stage Sovereign to hone their skills, especially Alice and Reynolds who broke through later than the first duo.
Grey and Klaus were very close to the Second stage of the Sovereign Plane, and if not for them slowing down on their hunt for Necromancers, they might've broken through already thanks to the constant battles.
Tricking a Third stage Necromancer isn't going to be easy, but once again, Grey's name was very alluring to these Necromancers as they see it as a chance to get on the good side of the Gnomes which will make life easier for them. So any one of them would be willing to take the opportunity once presented, and they wouldn't want to share it with anyone else.
This was the one Grey tricked the Third stage Sovereign Necromancer out of the hideout into their trap.
Before the Necromancer got to the place, he had already set a three layered array formation. The first one was to ensure there was no way the Necromancer could escape, the second one was to hide the aura of the battle from the outside world since it was very important no one else comes here, and the third one was to boost the strength of him and his friends.
The Necromancer was a lady who looked to be in her fifties, she was a bit robust, and was starting to get gray hairs. From her looks, it was easy to see that she might be from a top Faction and only came to the hideout for some business. Necromancers who look like these are the ones who are always hiding in plain sight.
Reynolds and Alice stepped forward when the lady got to the center of the array.
"Who are you two?" She asked calmly, no signs of worry in her tone.
"We're just wanderers." Reynolds replied.
"Why are you blocking my path then, wanderers?" The lady looked at the duo and could already see through their cultivation stage, they were both in the First stage of the Sovereign Plane which meant that they were within her ability to handle, the problem is that they were so young which can only mean one thing, they are from a top Family or Faction.
She knew there were a few Factions and Families that had ways of knowing who killed their geniuses, and she didn't want to draw any attention to her.
"Nothing, we just thought we should stop you." Alice answered.
"I'm from the Purple Cloves Faction, and you wouldn't want to have any issues with my Faction, would you?" The lady squinted her eyes to a slit as she asked.
She was just as the group predicted, from a top Faction and was only there for some business before this juicy opportunity presented itself to her.
"The Purple Cloves Faction?" Alice asked with a confused expression before shaking her head and turning to Reynolds, "Hmm, never heard of it. Have you?"
"No I have not, but I have heard of the deceitful Necromancer hiding among them." Reynolds' looked at the lady with a smile on his face.
