Affinity: Chaos-Chapter 1559 Taking A Break
Grey and his friends decided to take a break after demolishing the two hideouts. Since the Necromancers had caught up on their activity, it was best they take a break and focus on something else.
"What do we do now?" Klaus asked as they chilled close to the sea.
They've left the heavily congested region a few days ago and went to an island in the sea. They didn't want to draw any attention, so it was best they went to a place without other people.
"Don't you understand the concept of living lowkey?" Reynolds asked.
"Staying lowkey is boring." Klaus replied.
"You do know that there's a good chance a Peak Sovereign might be searching for us at the moment, right?" Alice couldn't help but point out.
"They aren't strong enough to do anything to us. Besides, we've always been careful. How else were we able to avoid all the dangers all this while." Klaus didn't like staying idle, just like Void.
Reynolds looked at him with a serious expression and said, "Hibernate then."
"I would, if I could."
"I'd really like to knock some sense into you."
"Hehe, now you're talking."
Reynolds and Klaus were about to start fighting when Grey stepped in.
"You want to destroy the island because you're bored? Why don't you go explore the sea, I heard there are powerful Magical Beasts at the depths of the sea." Grey advised Klaus.
"Now that you spoke about it, you do have a point." Klaus wore a thoughtful expression, he looked at Reynolds and asked, "Hey bud, ready to go explore with me?"
"No." Reynolds refused.
"I know you don't like the sea, but you have nothing to worry about, I'll be there with you." Klaus tried to talk Reynolds into going.
Reynolds, once again flat out rejected Klaus, who finally resorted to begging. He praised Reynolds' superior speed and told him his intention of taking Reynolds with him. He needed his speed in case they encountered any danger. Klaus has a great defense, and he would get a boost while in the water, but he isn't as fast as Reynolds or the other two.
When it comes to escaping, he was the slowest in the group, but with the help of his incredible defense, and his friends' intervention in most cases, most people will overlook this. The truth is, he knew his strengths and weaknesses, so he needed extra safety, and only Reynolds or Grey or Alice could give him that. Void was also a good bet, as was the bunny leader, but he didn't know if any of them would want to go into the sea with him, so he had to plead with Reynolds. Alioce was consolidating her realm, which meant she didn't want any distractions.
Reynolds finally agreed to go with Klaus after his persistent begging. It was rare to see Klaus in such a way. They left Grey and Alice as they sank into the sea. Klaus created a large ice dome that covered them as they entered the sea.
Alice focused on her cultivation while Grey rested. He is always busy, so he didn't mind having some rest.
The time went by slowly, and after over three hours of disappearing into the sea, Klaus and Reynolds returned in a haste, both looking battered.
Their arrival caught the attention of Alice and Grey.
"What did you encounter there?" Alice asked, she could see the expressions of the duo and it was clear they fought with something down there.
"An entire community of people. Well, partially people…" Klaus explained, seeing the faces of Grey and Alice, he elaborated, "They are like people, and also like fishes. They have gills and fins and some other things that make them not so human. But they have the figure and faces of humans, as well as legs and arms."
"And they attacked you?" Alice raised a brow. Normally, it wasn't strange to encounter something like this, especially when exploring something as big as the sea. Most people would observe from afar and not try to have any fights with the discovered species.
"This moron sensed something inside and his greed pushed him into sneaking into the place." Reynolds looked at Klaus in a manner as if he was ready to go into a life and death battle with him.
"Whatever that thing is, it's going to make me stronger. Just say you're jealous I'll become too strong for you." Klaus was never going to let Reynolds have his way.
"You attacked the guard unprovoked!" Reynolds couldn't believe Klaus was so crazy, Klaus' next statement made him give up all hopes on him.
"He gave me a strange look."
"He was sleeping!"
Klaus scratched his head awkwardly and looked at Grey, "Can…"
"No." Grey already knew what he wanted to ask for and rejected him.
"You don't even know what I want to ask." Klaus felt wronged.
"I'm not helping you steal the treasure or relic of an ancient society."
"Who says I need you to steal it?" Klaus looked at Grey weirdly.
"You don't want that?" Grey asked.
"They have way more Sovereigns that we can deal with. I can always come back for it." Klaus shook his head before pointing behind him, at the sea, "I beat up their Emperor or King and took his crown, it's pretty cool. Now they're coming after me. They should be here any second now."
"What the hell do you need a crown… oh, it looks good." Grey was in the middle of reprimanding Klaus when Klaus brought out the crown, he understood why he took such a risk. The crown looked amazing, and it was made from something he didn't know, but it exuded a shocking chill. Even the air around the crown was freezing.
"I think I can turn that into a weapon, but I'll need a while to start…" Grey paused when he sensed the sheer numbers of the people Klaus made an enemy of. Hr could sense the presence of a few Late stage Sovereigns, "We better get going."
