Chapter 432: Chapter 431: Breaking Up

Zhao Meimei noticed the PhD because his appearance was quite distinctive, especially when he spoke. His words carried a noticeable foreign accent, causing laughter, both kind and unkind, from those around.

Zhao Meimei was standing three steps away from the recruitment table, observing as the PhD communicated with the recruitment staff.

To her surprise, Zhao Meimei found that although his Chinese had a clear accent, his English was spoken with perfect pronunciation and sounded quite pleasant.

It was only natural that the PhD was hired on the spot amidst envious glances. After politely bidding farewell to the recruitment staff, she turned and left.

Zhao Meimei retracted her gaze, sat for a while longer to watch the events, and then got up with her bag to leave.

Making her way past the recruitment tables at the front, Zhao Meimei almost immediately spotted the PhD turning away from a table closer to the front row.

Zhao Meimei was stunned. It was clear that she had applied for another company.

The PhD seemed genuinely eager to leave this time as she headed towards the elevators, with Zhao Meimei following her along the way.

When they reached the special trash bin in the job fair hall, Zhao Meimei watched the PhD toss all the documents she held into it.

As soon as she had thrown the documents away, the PhD turned unexpectedly and saw Zhao Meimei staring at her in surprise.

The PhD raised an eyebrow at her: "What’s up?"

Zhao Meimei looked at her. She was not very tall, about five-foot-three, a bit chubby with broad shoulders, dressed in a simple floral round-neck T-shirt and a pair of cropped jeans. When she spoke, her eyes widened a bit, and upon closer inspection, Zhao Meimei realized why she thought the PhD looked different; her eyes were light brown with a hint of yellow, and her nose was high, with deep-set eyes, resembling a mixed-race person.

Almost involuntarily, Zhao Meimei asked, "Why did you throw away all your documents?"

The PhD didn’t reply, with a look of surprise on her face.

Zhao Meimei: "I saw that the foreign trade company gave you a document earlier, the yellow one, and you just tossed it away."

Upon hearing this, the PhD visibly paused, scrutinizing Zhao Meimei with a hostile tone: "What’s it to you?"

Zhao Meimei: "..."

The PhD turned and walked towards the elevators, with Zhao Meimei following behind. The two waited for the elevator one behind the other, then took it downstairs and exited the employment center.

Watching the PhD’s departing figure, Zhao Meimei thought to herself, having a high degree is impressive, huh!

That evening, when Zhao Meimei returned home, Shi Yang called. His voice sounded a bit hoarse over the phone: "Honey, just order takeaway for yourself tonight. I have to entertain President Mu and his team."

Zhao Meimei advised, "Drink less alcohol."

Shi Yang agreed, and just as he was about to say more, Mu Guangping and his group walked out from the gates, prompting Shi Yang to quickly say, "They’re coming out. I’ll talk to you later."

Shi Yang hung up and went to greet them.

The main framework for the three storefront renovations had been completely finished; now, it was just a matter of fine-tuning the details.

At the dinner table, Shi Yang proactively toasted Mu Guangping: "Brother Mu, I’m especially grateful for your great help this time. If it weren’t for you bringing in people to assist, things wouldn’t have progressed so smoothly and successfully on my end."

Mu Guangping clinked glasses with him, speaking just loud enough for Shi Yang to hear: "By helping you, I’m helping myself."

Shi Yang raised an eyebrow, exchanged a glance with Mu Guangping, and both broke into smiles, downing their drinks in one go.

Midway through dinner, the atmosphere had fully warmed up. The people from headquarters and Zhao Wendada’s team had gotten to know each other better over the past few days, referring to each other as brothers and exchanging toasts.

Suddenly, Mu Guangping said to Shi Yang, "Little Shi, are you interested in taking over the early childhood education project?"

Shi Yang was taken aback, instantly grasping the meaning behind Mu Guangping’s words. It seemed Mu Guangping intended to hand over the entire project to him, establishing it as the headquarters for the early childhood education project, separating it from the maternal and child project.

"Why?" Shi Yang could somewhat guess Mu Guangping’s reasons, but he wanted to hear exactly how Mu Guangping would explain this arrangement to him.

Mu Guangping said: "When I initially set up the maternal and child project, it was with a friend who partnered with me financially. He invested, and I handled the operations, contributing a small portion of funds myself, but my shareholding in the company couldn’t compare with his. Now, my friend is inclined to separate, so I’m planning to exit the maternal and child project, trading my shares for the management rights of the early childhood education project."

Mu Guangping’s words confirmed Shi Yang’s suspicions. He listened intently, silently contemplating the potential benefits and drawbacks this matter might bring him.

Mu Guangping continued: "I introduced the early childhood education project from overseas, operating the entire process and liaising with overseas partners. Currently, headquarters’ focus on this project isn’t substantial. Therefore, I want you to buy out this project directly. I’ll provide funding and allow you to acquire shares."

Shi Yang was somewhat surprised by this point; he hadn’t expected Mu Guangping to genuinely intend for him to acquire shares.

Shi Yang straightforwardly asked: "Brother Mu, since you plan to partner with me on this project, I should have the right to know your current situation, right?"

After asking, Shi Yang remained silent, fixing his gaze on Mu Guangping, awaiting his response.

Mu Guangping was clearly taken aback; after a moment, he suddenly laughed and patted Shi Yang’s shoulder: "I knew choosing you was the right decision. To be honest, besides owning two properties, I have about less than a million in cash for investing. The rest of my funds are tied up in the maternal and child project, and some are sustaining the early childhood education project’s operations."

Shi Yang pondered for a moment before replying: "I’ve just put my money into operating these three new stores, so my available funds might be tight for now. I need time to raise the needed capital. How long can you hold out?"

This time, Mu Guangping was genuinely surprised, the calm expression from before gone, looking at Shi Yang in disbelief: "How did you know?"

Shi Yang said: "Well, we’ve known each other for a few years now, and I have some understanding of you. You wouldn’t easily undertake something without assurance. Your friend’s intention to separate with you hasn’t been put into action yet, right?"

Mu Guangping genuinely laughed, feeling particularly touched: "I knew choosing you wasn’t a mistake. You’re spot on. I received news that my friend plans to separate, but it’s almost time for the autumn new product launch and the winter ordering meeting. These events have always been handled by me. Even if my friend wants to kick me out, the process won’t be swift."
