Addiction to Temptation: His Mischievous Sweetheart Captivates Him-Chapter 244: Serena Blackwood’s Provocation
Many people came forward to ask Quentin Donovan about Natalie Vaughn’s identity. Some genuinely wanted to meet Natalie Vaughn, while others just used her as an excuse to strike up a conversation with Quentin Donovan.
Quentin Donovan had already spoken to the people he wanted to see and had the conversations he wanted at the party, so now it was just playtime.
If it were someone else being the topic of conversation, he would be keen to say a few words, but not about Natalie Vaughn. Mainly because he feared this young lady might ignore him if she got upset, and now he was even more worried because he really liked the cocktail Natalie Vaughn made.
Quentin Donovan smiled at those approaching.
"Some things shouldn’t be asked, so don’t ask."
The corners of his mouth curved, his eyes slightly squinted, yet somehow there was an invisible pressure of displeasure.
Natalie Vaughn laughed while watching Theodore Langdon ask her for another drink, and said.
"Yana used to do this for me."
"Oh? Then I can do it from now on, I won’t be your brother anymore; I’ll be your best guy friend." 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
"Oh, please."
The party didn’t mean much to Natalie Vaughn, she came today partly for Caleb Lawson, partly for Zoe Chandler’s relentless spirit, and the remaining part for Zane Thorne.
She had never seen the man at a party.
However, the party had been going on for quite a while, yet she hadn’t seen any sign of Zane Thorne.
After Caleb Lawson finished performing, Natalie Vaughn got up and found a spot in a quieter corner. She really didn’t like all the staring from too many people, and many still approached to talk with Quentin Donovan.
So bothersome.
Sitting in the corner had the advantage of being able to observe every situation in the venue. Like a certain executive’s female companion directly reaching into the man’s pants in such a setting; or a group of female companions gathered around shamelessly discussing some bedroom secrets; or a bunch of men bragging about this year’s performance and the major projects for next year.
A party, where the invited guests come in all sorts. Although the place where she was just sitting was noisy too, it was mostly about business matters, and everything mentioned was just for profit. Unlike others, whose businesses weren’t necessarily vast, yet they kept boasting and discussing some dirty topics.
Natalie Vaughn was getting a bit impatient from waiting. If Zane Thorne didn’t arrive in ten minutes, she would just go home.
As she thought about this, someone sat next to her, and without lifting her head, she fidgeted with her phone in boredom.
"What, is the Vaughn Family’s eldest daughter attending a party all by herself?"
Natalie Vaughn paused while scrolling through her phone.
Ugh, a strong scent of cheap, nasty green tea.
Natalie Vaughn turned her head to look beside her, playing with her phone, and raised her eyebrow.
"Oh, I wondered who it was, turns out it’s Actress Blackwood."
Natalie Vaughn smiled lightly.
"Weren’t you banned? I’m surprised they dared invite you to this party, seems like the person in charge is lacking a bit of sense. I’ll have to make a call when I get back."
Serena Blackwood was provoked by the smile at the corner of Natalie Vaughn’s mouth. So much for being demure, it was all an act by Natalie Vaughn. A born vixen relying on petty tactics, getting close to Zane Thorne, starting to show off.
Ha, just a naive little girl.
"Oh, right, compared to Miss Vaughn, I prefer you to call me Mrs. Thorne."
With that, Natalie Vaughn put down her phone and provocatively raised her glass towards Serena Blackwood.
Serena Blackwood trembled with anger.
"Ha, self-proclaimed Mrs. Thorne, why hasn’t he accompanied you to the party today?"
While listening, Natalie Vaughn raised an eyebrow. She understood that Serena Blackwood attended the party not only to flirt with people but also to foolishly hope to seduce Zane Thorne.
"Why not call him and ask?"
Serena Blackwood:... How could Natalie Vaughn be so stupid and respond off script?
Natalie Vaughn continued to laugh and said.
"Oh, I forgot, you probably don’t have his contact information."
As she laughed, Natalie Vaughn’s expression suddenly turned cold, her lips forming a mocking arc.
"I advise you to stay out of trouble. If you keep causing issues, The Blackwood Family won’t tolerate you."
Serena Blackwood’s long, sharp nails pierced her skin, ha, when did The Blackwood Family ever tolerate her? Calling themselves family, they were nothing but a bunch of heartless bastards.
"Natalie Vaughn, you’re so arrogant just because you have Vaughn Family backing you, right?"
Upon hearing Serena Blackwood’s indignant tone, Natalie Vaughn laughed.
"Yes, I have Vaughn Family backing me, do you? I not only have Vaughn Family but also Thorne Family, even Donovan Family and Langdon Family, do you? Oh, even if you randomly pick any one of them, they’d crush The Blackwood Family, should I not be arrogant? Moreover, The Blackwood Family doesn’t seem to favor you, right?"
Serena Blackwood was provoked to the point her eyes turned red, and she trembled.
"You think I wouldn’t dare to mess with you?"
Upon hearing this, Natalie’s only thought was she had heard a joke. After laughing, she suddenly leaned in close to Serena Blackwood, speaking word by word.
"Then you’d better kill me, or I’ll make you wish you were dead."
Natalie Vaughn stared directly into Serena Blackwood’s eyes, the heavy makeup couldn’t conceal the fatigue underneath her eyes, it seemed she truly hadn’t been having a good time at The Blackwood Family these days, understandably so, with Yvonne Blackwood around, how could she be comfortable?
For Yvonne Blackwood, Serena Blackwood not only wanted to divide the family assets but lusted over the same man, who wouldn’t be overwhelmed?
Natalie Vaughn just held this close proximity, facing Serena Blackwood, until Serena could no longer withstand the provocation, the firmness, the fearless demeanor in her eyes, retreating in disarray.
She stood up, due to the emotional upheaval, her chest heaved.
"Natalie Vaughn, just you wait."
Natalie Vaughn raised her right leg and placed it over her left, tapping her toe with a certain rhythm on the ground, no longer looking at Serena Blackwood, but sipping her drink.
"Oh, I’m waiting."
As soon as Serena Blackwood left, Natalie Vaughn pursed her lips feeling that this so-called goddess Actress Blackwood was really nothing special, far inferior to Quinn Langley.
Natalie Vaughn wanted to complain, only to remember that since she had come in, Phoebe Quinn hadn’t returned to find her. She picked up her phone and sent a direct message.
"Yana, are you just going to abandon your bestie like this? Is money more important or I am?"
Natalie Vaughn thought Phoebe Quinn would be chatting about business and didn’t expect her to come back, but within a minute her phone buzzed.
Seraphina Sutton and Phoebe Quinn’s messages arrived simultaneously.
Natalie Vaughn clicked on Seraphina Sutton’s chat box without hesitation, it was a real-time location, Natalie Vaughn opened it and saw that Zane Thorne would arrive in fifteen minutes.
The bad mood brought by Serena Blackwood was swept away, and Natalie Vaughn’s mood instantly brightened. Then she checked Phoebe Quinn’s message.
"Of course you’re important, darling. Where are you? I’m done here, I’ll come find you."
Her long, slender fingers flew over her phone quickly.
"Ha, I’m important yet you finish your chat before coming to find me, woman, I’m mad now, left bottom corner near the champagne tower, come soothe me quickly."
"Alright, young lady, I’ll be right over, three minutes."
Natalie Vaughn laughed and put down her phone, only then did she realize her dress had somehow gotten stained with red wine.
The previously relaxed brow knitted once again.
Natalie Vaughn got up and headed towards the restroom, annoyed that just as she would finally get to see Zane Thorne at the party, her dress had ended up like this.
