Chapter 227: Chapter 227: Zane Thorne Gets Jealous

Zane Thorne’s eyebrows and eyes moved slightly as he reached out to pinch Natalie Vaughn’s nose.

"Why are you so concerned about him?"

Hearing this, Natalie rolled her eyes dramatically. Concerned about Gideon Sheffield? Whose fault was that? Without Zane, why would she care about Gideon Sheffield or River Sheffield?

Seeing Natalie’s expression, Zane smiled, lowered his head, and rubbed his nose against hers.

"Hmm, our Nina loves me so much that she’d ask about his affairs."

Natalie: ... How could someone be so shameless?

"Stop teasing me."

Natalie said as she punched the man’s chest. This dog of a man was infuriating her. If it weren’t for him, would she need to go to such lengths to investigate Gideon Sheffield?

Zane laughed and wrapped Natalie’s hand in his palm, lowered his head, and kissed it.

"Hmm, my fault. Why did you suddenly ask?"

Natalie briefly recounted her earlier conversation with Leo Chandler. After listening, Zane was silent for a long time. Natalie thought there was really something wrong with Gideon Sheffield and asked hurriedly.

"Is there really a problem?"

But Zane shook his head.

"No."

Every time he faced Gideon Sheffield, he felt guilty. How could he even begin to consider what might be wrong with Gideon Sheffield? Besides, what could be wrong?

"But, baby."

"Hmm?"

Zane couldn’t help but lean in and kiss the space above Natalie’s eyes. Natalie blinked, her long eyelashes brushed against the man’s chin.

"Thank you."

Natalie blinked again.

Zane just hugged his little girl tighter. Natalie had never said how much she did behind his back. Even when he brought up what happened five years ago, she merely held him and told him it wasn’t his fault.

Natalie slowly lifted her hand and hugged Zane back, gently patting him over and over. From pure curiosity at the start to later feeling sorry for Zane, the things she did were just following her heart.

"Baby, let’s move on. He’s starting a new life, and I need to start a new Chapter too. That’s enough."

The past five years have been too exhausting. He wanted to end it; he wanted a fresh start.

But...

Natalie’s hand stopped patting Zane. Had he really begun anew? Then why hadn’t he mentioned anything about racing these past few days? With so many cars at home, especially the ones he modified himself, he hadn’t even glanced at them, nor sat in them again.

With so much going on at GN Group, so many planned events, why did he still handle them like regular business?

Did he... not want to return to the track as a racer?

Natalie didn’t voice these questions. With her and Zane’s relationship, she could have asked him long ago, but she had a gut feeling.

The time wasn’t right.

Perhaps whenever Zane was willing to sit in a race car again, voluntarily, she could finally ask that question.

What Leo Chandler said did plant a seed of doubt within Natalie’s heart.

What exactly did Gideon Sheffield hide? Was there more to the story from back then?

...

After dinner, during a round of entertainment, Theodore Langdon, Jason Lynch, Jay Sterling, and a few others put on an impromptu show. Even though Natalie sat beside Zane, her eyes were glued to Caleb Lawson.

Natalie could have a simple reason for liking someone, but once she liked someone, she would like them for a long time. Even if life carried on and updates about that person became scarce, the moment they reappeared, they could rekindle the old feelings of affection.

Zane never forgot what Natalie once said: her ideal type used to be Jason Lynch. So now, he looked perpetually displeased.

He had planned to just haul Natalie back to their room, preventing her from watching. But Natalie said that if he dared, she’d sleep in a separate room for a week.

This girl definitely meant what she said.

How could Zane endure being separated from Natalie for a week? He couldn’t even last a day. Thus, he could only grudgingly endure it.

Even after several sips of chilled wine, his irritation wouldn’t subside. The more he looked at Jason Lynch on stage, the more vexed he became, even including the adjacent Theodore Langdon.

Didn’t he still have to settle accounts with Theodore Langdon for that last performance outing?

Immersed in his performance with his eyes closed, Theodore suddenly shivered for no reason, opened his eyes inexplicably, and met Zane’s displeased gaze.

His note instantly faltered.

What went wrong now? He was just innocently singing a song. How did he provoke Mr. Thorne?

Zane really didn’t want to listen anymore. He was never interested in these things, and Jason Lynch was an eyesore on top of that. But even if he couldn’t listen, he couldn’t leave. He had to keep an eye on Natalie, unsure what she might do once he was gone.

Like last time... what was it? Zane’s brow furrowed tightly. That slogan was so cheesy!

Zane instinctively tried to forget that time when Natalie not only shouted the slogan but also yelled out three words he’d never heard before. The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. He hadn’t even heard them, this girl even forgot when he said them.

And so, unable to hold back, the man turned his head, cupped Natalie’s chin with one hand, and bit down hard at her corner of her mouth.

Natalie: ... What madness is this dog of a man onto now?

Natalie mercilessly pushed Zane away, even raised her hand to wipe her mouth.

"Stop messing around."

Seeing Natalie unwilling to move her gaze, Zane’s jealousy intensified, this time he turned Natalie’s entire body and kissed her again.

Natalie: ...

This time, Natalie finally focused on Zane, but it was all about pushing him away. Unable to push him, she bit him.

"What are you doing? There are so many people here! Can’t you just listen to the music properly?"

"I can’t. It’s awful."

Natalie: ...

"Don’t be biased."

The man frowned in displeasure.

"I’m not biased, it’s just awful."

He never could appreciate it.

After speaking, Zane lowered his head to kiss Natalie again. This time Natalie responded in time, turning her head to avoid it, and the kiss landed on her chin. Zane didn’t mind, kissing a few times on her chin before moving downward to her neck.

Natalie: ...

Wocccc! They’re still outside! There are so many people here! The way Zane kissed, she knew too well, in the end, it would really get out of hand.

Natalie hurriedly hugged the man’s neck to restrain him, whispering through gritted teeth.

"What are you trying to do? I told you, if you don’t let me watch, I’d sleep in a separate room for a week!"

Zane just laughed, continuing to kiss her chin.

"See? I haven’t stopped you from watching."

Natalie: ....

Like this, how could she watch anything? This dog of a man was doing it on purpose!

"Zane!"

"Hmm, I’m here!"

Natalie’s anger boiled over. How could he act so recklessly in front of so many people? Even kissing shouldn’t be like this.

Zane’s kisses were too... passionate.
