Chapter 167: Chapter 167: Zane Thorne, I Won’t Let This Go

Natalie Vaughn instinctively wanted to cry out but covered her mouth upon seeing cameras everywhere around.

Zane Thorne’s face was tense, his expression grim as he carried Natalie Vaughn in strides out of the place. His demeanor made the staff who originally intended to stop him halt in their tracks.

Once out of the recording venue, Natalie Vaughn started to struggle.

"What are you doing? Put me down!"

Zane Thorne remained unfazed, continuing to walk out.

Being carried on his shoulder, Natalie Vaughn felt uncomfortable. She looked up and saw Felix Langdon and Quentin Donovan watching from behind; she even faintly heard Quentin Donovan’s sarcastic remark.

"Good luck to you."

"Zane Thorne! Let me down!"

Natalie Vaughn exerted her strength, her legs kicking, her hands randomly slapping the man’s back, yet Zane Thorne seemed impervious to pain, letting Natalie Vaughn attack him as he continued to carry her out.

He secured Natalie Vaughn’s waist with one hand, opened the car door, and threw Natalie Vaughn onto the back seat.

Natalie Vaughn was momentarily stunned by the toss and hadn’t yet reacted when Zane Thorne had already shut the door, swiftly entered the driver’s seat, and locked the car doors.

The sound of the door slamming startled Natalie Vaughn.

Natalie Vaughn opened her mouth, breathing lightly, gently rubbing her abdomen with one hand.

"What kind of madness is this?"

Only to see the man in the driver’s seat snort coldly.

"Madness, huh."

Zane Thorne lifted his eyelids abruptly through the mirror, staring at Natalie Vaughn with intensity.

"You’ve got guts now."

Natalie Vaughn, being someone who only backs down to gentleness, felt guilty when Zane Thorne sought her out. But now, seeing his attitude, she chuckled coldly too.

"What guts do I have? I was merely watching a performance. What, do you want to limit my right to watch a performance?"

Upon hearing this, Zane Thorne narrowed his eyes, his gaze fierce. He stared at Natalie Vaughn for a long time, while Natalie Vaughn raised her proud chin, meeting his gaze stubbornly and defiantly.

The man felt an itchy sensation rise in his throat.

He was in a terrible mood, agitated, and eager to vent.

His wife had returned to Astra City but didn’t come home, didn’t seek him, didn’t contact him, but went to watch another man’s performance, so gleefully excited, uttering foolish ’I love you’ nonsense.

In his thirty years of life, no one had dared treat him this way. Natalie Vaughn’s nature was fiery, so fiery that he loved it, but at this moment, her intense nature was causing him a headache.

What nonsense about the person who falls in love first being passive—how was Natalie Vaughn passive? Conversely, it was he who was pained by her sudden anger, all emotions taken over by her.

With a swish, Zane Thorne lit a cigarette.

He smoked fast and hard, consuming the cigarette in just three drags. With the windows closed, a strong smell of smoke filled the cabin, making Natalie Vaughn cough several times.

Perhaps being carried on Zane Thorne’s shoulder earlier was uncomfortable, this coughing had a tendency not to stop, making her cough till tears appeared.

The man’s eyes turned bloodshot, watching the woman in the back seat through the mirror, and finally, he pressed down the window, letting the smoke disperse outside.

He said nothing more and instead stepped on the accelerator, speeding down the road.

Natalie Vaughn stared at his cold side profile and asked.

"Where are we going? I want to go back to Veridia."

Zane Thorne acted as though he hadn’t heard, continuing to drive. Natalie Vaughn was very familiar with Astra City; this road was headed towards her Rivermark Apartments.

Natalie Vaughn couldn’t guess Zane Thorne’s intentions now, feeling angry due to his earlier actions.

"Stop the car!"

Yet Zane Thorne pressed the accelerator deeper, almost to the floor. This speed was already the car’s limit, with Natalie Vaughn in the back unbuckled, forced to grip the nearby latch to steady herself.

The half-hour journey was reduced by Zane Thorne to ten minutes.

Natalie Vaughn looked at the unfamiliar underground parking, frowning.

"Where is this?"

Zane Thorne still didn’t utter a word, got out of the car, opened the back seat, and directly pulled Natalie Vaughn out.

The moment Natalie Vaughn stood still, she flexed her core, lifting her leg to kick at Zane Thorne; the man swiftly dodged the kick. Natalie Vaughn simultaneously raised her right hand in a block, but Zane Thorne reacted quickly, grabbing her arm, and the subsequent moves were all neutralized by Zane Thorne.

This ignited Natalie Vaughn’s desire to win; she had always wanted to spar with Zane Thorne. Thus she no longer hesitated, no longer held back, attacking with the attitude and intensity as in training.

She took the initiative to attack, yet the man never retreated, standing in place, dodging her strikes effortlessly. This ease of movement aroused Natalie Vaughn’s fighting spirit even more. She exerted herself, jumping, employing her most skilled spin kick.

When her toes grazed the side of Zane Thorne’s face, Zane Thorne finally took a step back, no longer playing along with Natalie Vaughn, instead proactively countered, quickly wrestling her wrist to her back.

Natalie Vaughn winced in pain.

"It hurts, it hurts!"

Zane Thorne furrowed his brow, loosening his grip slightly, allowing Natalie Vaughn to immediately break free, throwing a hand knife but the man tilted his head to dodge.

Natalie Vaughn seized the opportunity to run.

"Fooled you."

She couldn’t win against Zane Thorne in a fight, but she could outsmart him.

Thinking this, her earlier sulk dissipated; she laughed as she ran. But she hadn’t laughed for long before she stopped.

Zane Thorne merely ran a few strides to catch up with her effortlessly, this time not giving Natalie Vaughn a chance to resist, once again carrying her over his shoulder.

In this position, Natalie Vaughn found it challenging to exert force. First, Zane Thorne’s shoulder was hard, pressing painfully against her abdomen, and second, his strength was overwhelming, easily pinning her down with one hand.

"Not again! Zane Thorne, if you have the guts, put me down and let’s have a duel."

Zane Thorne, however, no longer paid her any heed, directly carrying Natalie Vaughn to the elevator, during which he landed a slap on her rear due to her restlessness.

Natalie Vaughn: ...

Never in her life had anyone spanked her!

It was simply humiliating!

"Zane Thorne! I’m not done with you!"

The standalone villa had its own elevator, and all the way, Natalie Vaughn was carried by Zane Thorne into the villa.

This place was close to Rivermark Apartments; upon entering and seeing the photo of herself and Zane Thorne together, Natalie Vaughn realized it was the newlywed gift from the Thorne Family.

Lantheon Manor.

Has it already been furnished?

Natalie Vaughn had no time to think before Zane Thorne directly carried her into the bedroom, tossing her onto the sofa while she was still dazed.

The sofa was very soft, causing Natalie Vaughn to bounce a few times.

"What are you doing?"

The man removed his coat, yanked off his tie, pressing with one leg to pull Natalie Vaughn closer, his gaze heavy with emotion, brow fierce.

"Natalie Vaughn."

His voice was deep and heavy.

"Why aren’t you obedient, huh?"

Upon hearing this, Natalie Vaughn instinctively shrank back.

The last time on the mountaintop, Zane Thorne had uttered those words before taking her first kiss; she remembered it vividly even now.
