Addiction to Temptation: His Mischievous Sweetheart Captivates Him-Chapter 160: So You Don’t Like Me?
Zane Thorne grabbed Natalie Vaughn’s restless hand, his thoughts entirely on her waist.
"Let someone take the thing off your waist first."
Natalie liked the feeling of being evenly matched. She still had some fighting spirit when facing Shannon Rhodes, but when it came to Serena Blackwood, she froze without doing anything.
How dull.
Summoning someone to remove the thing from her waist, Natalie secretly took a breath of relief without the constraint. Before she could say anything, Zane bent down and lifted her up in his arms.
The set was filled with gasps; Zane’s series of actions were swift and neat, as if he often did things like this. The difference in their sizes made this princess carry particularly captivating.
Natalie instinctively wrapped her arms around Zane’s neck, and before she could voice a question, Zane spoke again.
"I don’t know her."
Natalie: ...
Wow, what’s with Serena Blackwood? She can’t even make a lasting impression on Zane Thorne.
"But she’s a stunning beauty~"
Natalie leaned close to Zane’s ear and said, her lips curling up unconsciously after she spoke. There was happiness and pride in her smile.
She was happy because Zane genuinely didn’t like dealing with women, just as Theodore Langdon had said he found them troublesome. She was proud because Zane had learned to pay attention to her emotions and was willing to explain to her now.
It had taken her a lot of effort to make this man turn out this way. If it were two months ago when they first met, Zane would have surely called her dramatic and refused to play along with her act.
"Didn’t get a good look."
To return to the hotel, they had to pass by Serena Blackwood. Zane’s look was sharp and intense, yet when he lowered his head to look at Natalie, his expression softened. Natalie in his arms was like a spoiled child, openly displaying hostility towards Serena.
Serena was deeply stirred by the scene before her. She wanted to speak but found her throat choked and lacked the courage to call out his name.
It was the same in high school. She was always a coward, only able to stand behind him, watching him laugh and talk with friends, never daring to step forward.
Zane couldn’t recall this person at all, and after returning to the hotel with Natalie, he directly stripped her clothes off. Natalie could barely react, instinctively wanting to cover herself, but was stopped by the man.
Natalie’s waist was slender, besides the marks he left the other night, there was now a deep bruise from hanging on the wire, and because of excessive friction, several areas on her waist had abrasions seeping blood.
Zane’s breathing noticeably intensified, and Natalie gave up the thought of covering herself.
"Actually... it doesn’t hurt much, I was just trying to piss off Serena."
The man suddenly straightened up, raising his hand to rub his face.
"Where’s the medicine kit?"
Natalie pointed to a spot, and Zane got up wordlessly to retrieve the medicine kit, then crouched by the bed, carefully applying medicine on her.
His movements were clumsy, but he was extremely attentive with every action, trying hard to be gentle each time.
Looking down at Zane’s focused face, Natalie’s heart stirred. He was frowning, his black lashes lowered, masking his eyes yet failing to hide his compassion.
After finishing the treatment, the man placed the medicine kit aside carelessly, then in that position, looked up at Natalie.
"Are you planning to continue shooting later?"
The man’s voice was somewhat hoarse. Natalie knew Zane was restraining himself, aware that she didn’t like being bossed around or having her plans easily disrupted.
No one could stop her from doing what she wanted to do.
Zane understood very well.
Natalie suddenly cupped the man’s face with both hands, leaning down to peck his lips.
"When I was a kid practicing karate, I couldn’t beat others, so I practiced late into the night until I could knock them to the ground, leaving them no strength to fight back."
"During that time, my body was covered in bruises, and I didn’t dare to go home, afraid my parents would see. My brother advised me not to be so competitive, but I am someone who has to do my best at everything and make myself proud, make others admire me."
Natalie let out a short laugh.
"My brother said I was way too stubborn."
Zane looked deeply at Natalie, seeing the determination and tenderness in her eyes, then lowered his eyelids with a cold huff.
"Aren’t you?"
Natalie raised her eyebrows slightly, sensing the man’s dissatisfaction with her stubbornness, and smiled as she pecked his lips again.
"You don’t like it?"
Zane gave her a sidelong glance.
"Why should I like a stubborn mule?"
Natalie was amused by Zane’s demeanor. Previously, Zane’s emotions were quite evident and didn’t consider others, but now, this restrained annoyance towards her excessive stubbornness seemed novel to her.
"So, do you not like me?"
Natalie softened her voice, deliberately widening her eyes, looking pitifully at him.
Zane: ...
There she goes again.
Zane covered Natalie’s eyes with his hand and stood up.
"Anyway, you won’t listen to me. If you want to shoot, go ahead, but don’t whimper in front of me later when it hurts."
Natalie blinked, her lashes brushing against the man’s palm, tickling a bit. Zane withdrew his hand as he stood up, restraining himself from looking at Natalie’s eyes.
Merely seeing his back, one could tell the man was genuinely angry, yet also helpless.
Natalie sighed. After applying the medicine, her waist felt a lot cooler and not as uncomfortable. She got up, walked behind Zane, and wrapped her arms around his waist.
Feeling Zane’s body stiffen the moment she hugged him, Natalie nuzzled her head against his broad back.
"You have to finish the shoot, right? After today’s pain, there won’t be any more."
Zane didn’t want to argue with Natalie about this. No matter what, Natalie always had a reason. Apart from acting innocent, Natalie was also good at talking nonsense.
It was just for a moment before Zoe Chandler knocked on the door.
Natalie knew Director Gable was urging her.
"Do I not look handsome while filming?"
"Honey~"
"Once I finish shooting quickly, I can spend some time with you~"
"You took the time to come watch me film, so I must perform well."
Zane: ...
See, without him saying anything, Natalie could make everything sound so nice. In the end, Zane still compromised.
When they walked out the door, Natalie’s face was smiling, while Zane behind her looked quite displeased. Zoe didn’t dare to look at Zane and instead conveyed Director Gable’s message.
"Director Gable said, if you’re really not up to it, you can take another day off."
Upon hearing this, Natalie smiled.
Director Gable wasn’t speaking to her but to Zane. Today’s scenes couldn’t do without her. If she rested again, today would be in vain—all the setups, the scheduling of all actors, and all the extras and crew.
"I’ll continue shooting."
Zoe nodded without further comment, considering where to find some more good medicine.
As they returned to the set, they found themselves under everyone’s gaze, including Serena Blackwood.
Natalie raised an eyebrow.
Ugh, she hasn’t left yet. Actress Blackwood really has thick skin.
