Chapter 148: Chapter 148: Alluring to the Core

Probably because she’s been busy lately, or perhaps because she had too much fun last night, after dinner, Natalie Vaughn felt a wave of drowsiness coming over her.

The sun was just right today, and Natalie lazily yawned.

"I want to lie by the window."

The room was warm, and the blanket by the window was thick enough, so Zane Thorne didn’t refuse. He picked up Natalie with the thin blanket.

The wine they didn’t drink last night became something that made this afternoon nap even deeper. Natalie knew how to enjoy herself, leaning against Zane, taking a small sip, and snuggling into his warmth as she drifted off to sleep.

Natalie slept sweetly, the fine hairs on her face visible in the sunlight, her long, curly eyelashes casting a faint shadow on her eyelids. Seeing her so well-behaved could soften anyone’s heart.

It’s just that her cheeks were a little less fleshy than before, she’s become quite thin.

While watching Natalie sleep, Zane sipped his wine, and all other thoughts began to drift away, leaving only romantic musings with Natalie.

With the bottle of wine finished, Zane wrapped one arm around Natalie’s waist and the other gently supported the back of her head, resting his chin in the crook of her neck, falling asleep alongside her.

From when the sun was at its peak to when it set, they both slept deeply.

They were awakened again by the crazy ringing of a phone.

The group at the club had been waiting the whole day for Natalie’s birthday to have some carefree fun, breaking from their dull and grueling training. But they waited all day and Natalie was nowhere in sight.

Finally unable to resist, Jay Sterling, being the youngest, was chosen as the poor soul to make the call.

Zane was the first to wake up, instinctively covering Natalie’s ears. After scanning the room with a frown, he realized the source of the noise was Natalie’s phone.

Gently extracting the arm Natalie was resting on, he got up to pick up the phone from the bedside, seeing it was a WeChat call from Jay.

His frown deepened.

What’s this brat up to again?

Zane didn’t handle it immediately, after all, it was Natalie’s phone. But before he hesitated for more than a second or two, Natalie was already awake.

"Who is it?"

Zane handed the phone over.

Natalie answered, Jay’s eager voice immediately came through.

"Nina, what are you busy with? It’s your birthday today, come out and have fun, we’re all waiting."

Natalie coughed a few times to clear her throat.

"Your boss is here."

"Boss?"

Jay’s brain hadn’t caught up yet.

"Who is it? Who has more influence than us?"

Hearing this, Natalie became a bit more awake, raising an eyebrow at Zane and passing the phone to him.

Jay was loud, and Zane heard every word clearly.

"Hmm, my influence doesn’t compare to yours."

Jay: .....

"Mr. Thorne, it’s a misunderstanding, your influence is huge, your influence is bigger than the sky. Mr. Thorne, the guys are really missing you, bring sis-in-law over to play!"

Zane let out a cold snort.

"Looks like someone’s looking for a beating."

"No, Mr. Thorne! Last time, the issue you mentioned about the turn, I improved by a full three seconds!"

The man didn’t waste more words with Jay, instead looking at Natalie.

"These boys want to celebrate your birthday. Do you want to go?"

Natalie nodded.

Zane, however, raised an eyebrow and sat down beside her, wrapping an arm around her waist.

"Do you still have the energy to play?"

Natalie: .....

"Play! Why not? There’s only one day for a birthday."

Zane eyed her half-bare shoulder. Almost a day had passed, yet the marks on it had only faded slightly. His gaze darkened as he pulled the fallen thin blanket back over her.

"Alright, then go play, get ready."

Natalie got up, but after lying down all day, as soon as she moved, her legs felt weak, and she fell back onto the blanket.

Zane chuckled quietly, wrapping an arm around her waist to lift her up.

"Are you sure you have the energy to play?"

Natalie glared at him, and once standing stably, slapped away the hand he had on her waist.

Zane laughed even more joyfully, giving her waist a gentle pat.

"Go get ready."

After Natalie went into the bathroom, Zane redirected his attention to the phone, finding Jay had feasted on a lot of teasing.

"Mr. Thorne, so are you coming over later?"

"Yeah, have you been having more fun with your sister-in-law these days?"

Jay, caught off guard by the sudden question, suddenly remembered Natalie’s words about keeping secrets.

"Huh? Fun? No, Mr. Thorne, I’ve been training diligently lately."

Little did he know, his evasive attitude only made Zane suspicious.

After hanging up, Zane placed Natalie’s phone back on the bedside.

"Damn Zane!"

Natalie’s low growl came from the bathroom.

Zane’s eyebrows moved slightly. Entering the bathroom, he saw Natalie looking in the mirror with a face full of anger.

"Are you a dog? Look at what you’ve done to my neck!"

Zane knew he was in the wrong, willing to go along with Natalie’s grumbling.

"My fault."

Natalie, chest heaving in anger, looked at the countless kiss marks on her neck. How was she supposed to go out like this?

The man timely wrapped his arms around her waist from behind, buried his head in her neck, gently inhaled, and landed tender, scattered kisses.

"Baby, your allure is too strong, I couldn’t help it."

Now that Natalie was fully awake, she wouldn’t be easily swayed by Zane calling her baby. Turning her head to avoid his kisses, she mercilessly pushed him away.

"Quit sweet-talking, how am I supposed to go out?"

"Baby, it’s winter now."

A high-necked sweater or scarf wouldn’t look out of place when stepping out.

"Then how am I supposed to shoot my scenes?"

"Take a few days off?"

Natalie couldn’t help but roll her eyes dramatically.

"Zane, you’re doing this on purpose?"

The man smiled as he pinched her cheek.

"You’ve lost weight. Filming is just for fun, no need to exhaust yourself like this."

"I have my plans."

Zane’s expression shifted slightly, he raised an eyebrow and looked deeply at Natalie.

"Is that so?"

Natalie didn’t answer further.

It was an hour later when they were both ready to head out.

Since it was Natalie’s birthday, Zoe Chandler and Summer Churchill joined them too. Zoe found an opportunity to walk up to Natalie, asking quietly in her ear.

"Is my gift still of use?"

Natalie’s cheeks flushed slightly.

"How did you notice?"

Right after asking, Natalie thought it was a silly question.

She and Zane had spent an entire day in the room, anyone but a fool would know what might have happened inside.

"Do you know what you look like now?"

Natalie’s heart skipped a beat, had she left any marks uncovered?

Zoe gave the answer.

"You look more womanly alluring now."

Simply put, Natalie’s allure used to only show in her eyes, now it radiates from within her.

It’s obvious to anyone that this charm is something only experienced women could emanate.

Especially those eyes, moistened with allure, captivating to the extreme.
