Chapter 65: Where in the will? - Part 3

Sienna couldn’t focus on her work even for a second. Her thoughts would drift towards her father’s will, which no one knew about. Her mind was spinning, and she wondered if it was Dane’s plan to get back at her.

However, she also felt that it wasn’t possible. Dane, like his father, was a lawyer. He knew he’d be punished if she went to court.

So, where did this will come from?

Amy stared at the woman who was lost in thought and nudged Kyrell. Since the moment Sienna had found out about the will, she had become jittery and distracted. She didn’t even respond when Kyrell had tried speaking to her.

Kyrell rubbed his face, not knowing what to do. He didn’t know much about Sienna’s family or friends to suggest she speak to someone. He could only try his best to divert her thoughts, only to meet her absent-mindedness. She was too engrossed in her thoughts to hear a word he said.

Sighing heavily, he stood up and glanced at Amy, who nodded at him. It was just the three in the office. The others were outside. Although Simon, Edward, and Esme had met Sienna when she reached her company, they hadn’t been of much help.

"Miss Lawrence," Kyrell tapped his knuckles on the desk, and Sienna immediately broke out of her trance.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Kyrell knew that keeping her thoughts to herself was killing her, and she wanted to confide in someone. Since she needed to vent, he was willing to lend an ear.

"I’m wondering if Dane is playing with me or if he actually has Dad’s will," Sienna said, closing the document, which she hadn’t read beyond the first line.

"How was your father’s relationship with Dane’s father?" Kyrell asked, trying to find out more about Dane and his father.

"Well..." Sienna tilted her head, reminiscing about the man with whom her father was close friends. "Dad and Mr. Ledger were good friends. They met at an event decades ago and hit it off well. Dad was quite sad when Mr.Ledger passed away."

"Okay." Kyrell nodded, painting a picture of Mr. Ledger in his mind from Sienna’s words. "Did they ever quarrel or have any sort of arguments?"

"As far as I can remember, no. Mr. Ledger and Dad were never involved in each other’s lives, personal or professional. So, they never argued."

"I see. What about Mr. Ledger’s moral character?"

"Quite good actually. Dad felt Dane must be just like his father, honest and trustworthy. So, he wanted me to try dating him. But you know what happened."

"Could Dane be lying to you then?" Kyrell’s eyes flashed with a cold, killing intent as he stared at Sienna thoughtfully.

"That’s not possible. I can easily go to the court and prove the will to be fake. Not only will he lose his licence as a lawyer, he’ll even be convicted of a crime." Sienna tapped her fingers on the table and shook her head lightly. "I don’t think he’d take a huge risk just to spite me."

"What have you thought of doing now?"

"What time did Officer Jenkins say we can go to the Lawrence Estate?"

"12."

The police thoroughly searched the estate for clues. After seizing things they felt were useful for the investigation, they called for a specialized crime scene cleanup professionals to clean the house, erasing the blood stains and marks as much as possible.

Sienna could now move back to the estate if she wanted to.

"Do you want to go, Miss Lawrence?" Kyrell understood what was running through her mind. Since her meeting with Dane was at 3, she had time to search the estate for proof of her father leaving a will.

"Yes."

It was past 1.30 when they reached the Lawrence Estate. The place was devoid of any blood stains. If not for the strong smell of a chemical in the air, it was impossible to detect anything amiss with the estate.

"Miss Lawrence, call us if you need any help," Kyrell informed, walking behind her until they reached her Dad’s study. They didn’t dare go inside, for there were a lot of confidential files.

"Thanks." Sienna smiled, grateful for his considerate thoughts.

"Say, Kyrell." Isaac leaned against the wall beside his friend and stared ahead. "Why is Miss Lawrence’s life filled with action and mystery. Can’t she have a break for a moment?"

Isaac wasn’t the only one who felt that way. Wasn’t Sienna already in a lot of trouble? Why did more trouble keep adding? If this continued, sooner or later, she would crumble completely.

"I know, right? I feel exhausted already, even though it’s only been a day since I came here. I wonder how Miss Lawrence is feeling." Xavier leaned beside Kyrell and sighed heavily, feeling distraught all of a sudden.

"I wish Miss Lawrence had someone with her. It’s difficult to face everything alone," Amy added, standing before the three men. "I hope she stays strong."

"She’ll be strong. And don’t worry, she has us now," Kyrell assured them, his eyes burning with determination.

Xavier’s lips curled in a teasing smile, and he glanced at Isaac, who was also smiling mischievously.

"Yeah. She has us now. There’s no need to worry."

Fucking yeah! She has you now. With you around, what could happen to her? Lover boy, I’m so proud of you.

Amy noticed Xavier’s strange smile and scowled lightly.

Why is he smiling like a relieved mother? Is his madness acting up again? Did he forget to take his pills today?

Amy couldn’t be blamed for feeling this way. Xavier was acting weirdly, and she least expected Kyrell to have feelings for Sienna.

"By the way, any news about Jordan? Did you find anything?" Amy asked, diverting the topic, and Kyrell shook his head.

"I asked Officer Jenkins to look into it. He did find a few things, but they aren’t of much help."

"How about Andy? Was there any breakthrough through him?"

"No. The man hasn’t spoken a word."

The four people discussed the case for some time while they waited outside. Almost half an hour later, Sienna stepped out of the study, her forehead dotted with sweat.

Kyrell stood straight, prompting the others to follow suit. He quirked his brows questioningly, and Sienna shook her head.

"It looks like we can only wait for Dane to find answers."

The group ordered food as they waited. Sienna wasn’t in the mood to eat anything, but under Kyrell’s coaxing, she managed to take a few bites.

Amy’s eyes kept sneaking towards the couple sitting separately from them. Her gossip radar became active at once, and she gestured to the two men beside her to look at the couple, who were in their own world.

Xavier rolled his eyes when he saw what was happening.

Fuck my eyes! He isn’t even trying to hide his feelings anymore, now that Miss Lawrence knows it. Are you going to feed us with PDA from now onwards?

Xavier kept cursing under his breath, finding his friend utterly annoying.

Meanwhile, Isaac’s thoughts were far from Xavier’s. He couldn’t stop rejoicing as he saw how Sienna depended on Kyrell wholeheartedly. She wasn’t indifferent and frigid anymore. Though there was quite some tension in the air, there were also love bubbles around him, and he started to look forward to the day they became a couple.

I suddenly want to eat wedding cake. What do I do?

Amy’s thoughts were no less different than Isaac’s. Being a woman, she was more sensitive and could easily detect something between the two. They were oddly harmonious in a way that felt warm and lovely. At that moment, Sienna and Kyrell looked like a match made in heaven. Sparks were flying everywhere, and she really wanted them to get together

Kyrell, I’m rooting for you. Don’t disappoint me.

Oblivious to what the three were thinking, Kyrell continued to coax Sienna to eat some more. She hadn’t eaten much during breakfast. If this continued, she’d fall sick for sure.

"Miss Lawrence, please eat some more."

"I’m not hungry."

"A few more bites."

"No. I don’t have an appetite."

"But you need energy to deal with Dane. You don’t want your body to suffer, do you?"

Sienna didn’t know how close they were at that moment. Kyrell was beside her. But his chest was covering her back completely. From behind, it looked as if the man was hugging her. They were so close that it was impossible for anyone to not think something was going on between them.

"Miss Lawrence, please. For me?" Kyrell cajoled softly, and that did the charm.

Though unwilling, Sienna took a few more bites of her food and stopped only when Kyrell didn’t force her anymore.

"Happy?" She glared at him in dismay.

But to the others, it looked like a lovers’ spat.

"Very." Kyrell handed her a glass of water, and Sienna took it with a scowl.

’I never expected Kyrell to feed me with PDA for lunch. What do I do? I’m not hungry anymore,’ Xavier thought, pushing his empty take-out container.

When Frank arrived, everyone had finished lunch and was waiting in the living room.

"Miss, did you eat something?" he asked, ready to order food if she shook her head.

"Yes, I did. What about you?"

"I did too, Miss." Frank hesitated and glanced at the others.

"What’s wrong, Frank?" Sienna noticed his weird actions and questioned him directly.

"Did you discover anything, Miss?"

"Not yet."

A car’s honk caught their attention, and Sienna gave Frank a cryptic look.

"Dane must be here. Let’s see what this will is all about."
