Accidentally Reincarnated in Cultivation World-Chapter 82: Missions
"So if you want to take a mission," the monk said, gesturing lazily toward the board, "just grab a parchment and bring it to me for approval. If everything checks out, you’re good to go."
"Thank you for the information, Senior," Yu Xuan replied with a slight bow. "I’ll be back in a few minutes."
With that, he turned and made his way toward the large wooden notice board where parchment slips fluttered gently.
A few disciples loitered nearby, examining missions of their own.
Most had two or three lines embroidered onto their sleeves — markings denoting their cultivation level.
The section for Qi Condensation and Foundation Establishment disciples was the least crowded.
Yu Xuan began browsing.
[Mission: Find Elder Zhi’s Pet]
Description: Elder Zhi recently acquired a hamster and named it "Burger." Upon hearing its name, the creature fled the premises for reasons unknown. Locate and retrieve the hamster.
Reward: 500 Sect Points
Seriously? An elder couldn’t catch a hamster? Yu Xuan blinked. ’Maybe he just wants to give someone free sect points. Still... not for me.’
He moved on.
[Mission: Capture 10 Thorny Goats – Qi Condensation Realm]
Description: Subdue and retrieve 10 Thorny Goats with minimal damage. Ensure their limbs remain intact. Report to disciple Wu for evaluation.
Reward: Evaluated on delivery based on quality
He gave a nod, and thought, ’A beast subjugation mission, finally. But I need to see what else is available first.’
[Mission: Letter Writing Assistance]
Description: Seeking someone with decent literary skills to help draft a heartfelt letter to a long lost flame. Preferably with poetic flair.
Reward: 300 Sect Points
’Letter writing, huh? Sounds peaceful... maybe I should give it a try.’
He kept browsing.
[Mission: Mine Oversight]
Description: Supervise spirit puppets during ore extraction.
Reward: 100 Sect Points
’Easy money if you can stay awake. Puppets do all the work.’, he thought but the kept it in the category of cheap labor, the amount of points he will earn from it will just be minimal. Enough to afford food one time.
[Mission: Dog Observation]
Description: Watch over my dog "Roastie" while I’m away in seclusion for two days. Don’t let it eat random herbs. Do not let it follow birds or butterflies.
Reward: 100 Sect Points
Yu Xuan raised a brow. Even watching over dogs is missions now? He smiled faintly, then noticed a few more pinned near the bottom corner.
[Mission: Convince My Junior Brother He’s Not a Reincarnated Sword Saint]
Description: My junior brother recently woke up claiming he is the reincarnation of a Sword Saint after being told by a random fortune teller. He now refuses to do chores and speaks only in poetic sword metaphors. I did my best, now it’s your turn. Talk sense into him.
Reward: 350 Sect Points + one thank-you bun.
Looking at this odd request, Yu Xuan thought, ’Either it’s true or not.’ and he really didn’t want to get involved in it.
[Mission: Escort Scroll Delivery]
Description: Deliver a sealed scroll to a reclusive cultivator. Do not peek. The scroll is cursed.
Reward: 550 Sect Points
He took a moment, scanning through the rest. Most were either menial or odd. Still, the sheer variety made it clear — disciples here could earn points through anything from battle to babysitting dogs.
He finally reached for a few parchment.

Yu Xuan appeared before the monk once more. This time, her heart remained calm — or so she thought.
Believing she had improved, she silently praised herself, ’I am a genius, to detach from worldly affairs so quickly. Oh no, I shouldn’t think like that... I am a monk. A monk. A monk...’
Though she maintained a serene expression on the surface, internally her mind was a battlefield of conflicted emotions.
"Have you selected your missions?" she asked, her voice composed.
Yu Xuan handed over three parchment slips he had taken from the mission board.
"Capture ten Thorny Goats – Qi Condensation Realm, Letter Writing Assistance, and Escort Scroll Delivery," she read aloud. Her eyes skimmed the parchment quickly, checking the details.
"There’s nothing wrong with the goat hunt or the scroll escort. You’ll probably take some time, but they’re straightforward tasks. The scroll one... I don’t even know why someone would post such a simple errand as a formal mission, but alright," she said with a shrug.
Her brow furrowed slightly as she looked at the third one. "But the Letter Writing Assistance has conditions."
"What kind of conditions?" Yu Xuan asked.
"The client specifically requested someone with literary skills. And the authority to judge if a disciple meets that criteria... falls to me," she said flatly, clearly displeased by the role.
Yu Xuan grinned and said, "Please trust me just this once, Senior. I won’t disappoint you."
An invisible arrow of charm pierced the monk’s calm heart. She clasped her hands together and chanted under her breath, "Evil begone... evil begone..."
Then she stammered, "I — I cannot do that. Rules are rules."
"Pretty please? Just this once, I am new here and I will be very grateful?" Yu Xuan said, flashing a smile again.
Several more invisible arrows struck her in rapid succession.
Her shoulders slumped slightly as she lowered her head and muttered in defeat, "Fine. I approve all three missions. The clients will be notified. Give me your medallion."
Yu Xuan handed her the medallion without hesitation.
Without even looking directly at it, she tapped it against the glowing cube like device on her desk, activating a soft pulse of light. The medallion briefly flashed and then returned to normal.
She tossed it back to him casually. "You can go now."
Yu Xuan caught it with ease, bowed slightly in thanks, and walked out of the hall.
Left alone, the monk placed her hand over her chest and whispered bitterly, "This is unfair... I am just a ordinary monk..." And yet, her face gradually returned to its usual peaceful expression — as if nothing had happened.
She was a monk after all, and if worldly affairs should disturb her, it was for just some time.
