Academic gathering with a lich-Chapter 795 - 736: The Real Purpose
The sun gradually set, and as darkness filled the air, the glow of the Moon Crown Flower turned blue-green, with a pink base beneath the bloom. Bright red mana pollen scattered from the petals, which became active in the night’s blackness. As the moon slowly climbed, the floating powder grew lighter and lighter under the moon’s influence. The moon acted as the carrier of the pollen, and tonight, on this once-a-year full moon night, the Moonlight Flower would complete its pollination. During this process, the pollen drifting everywhere adorned the night with breathtaking beauty.
The floating red pollen also marked the customary end time for the Moon Crown Council meetings, followed by the celebration of the Tree Demon Forest Spirits. The Dream Elves, even if they do not sleep, prefer to spend this most beautiful night with their loved ones.
The ancient trees stretched their roots, weaving a net above the Druids’ heads, their roots moving actively. Glowing resin, on Tiffany’s command, was spread over the delicate vine net, and the newly published regulations appeared above everyone’s heads, to be communicated by forest whispers to every sprout and every fresh leaf by tomorrow.
[New Dream Game Rules]
[Article 1, Real-name system for Dream Game players.] Players can still change their virtual names, but their personal image in the dream must be consistent with their real appearance. Despite the complaints, Tiffany firmly implemented this rule. The Dream Game is not a way to vent and behave recklessly away from reality, essentially eliminating the possibility for unscrupulous players to default on debts. For upright players like Doludo or those like Kylo who disdain to hide their true names, the real-name system has little impact. However, those Wind Sword Men who made a fortune by scamming players must be careful now—as it’s time for retribution.
[Article 2, Time reward system for the game.] The active time spent by players in the Dream Game is no longer an unlimited right but now a reward, a remuneration for labor. Dream Elves working for the Druid Elders’ Council and royal institutions need to complete work targets to exchange for game time; underage elves and Druid apprentices can only play for four hours daily and must spend an equal amount of time learning in the dream; for unemployed but adult elves, the Elders’ Council will issue temporary commission work, similar to the adventurers’ guild task model, to help unemployed elves find work. For those who are naturally idle, this method of labor is more than suitable. Yes, the ones being addressed here are you disobedient Witherers.
[Article 3, Articles 1 and 2 are effective for all Dream Elves, equality for all in the Dream Game.] Regardless of status or power, this is a necessary addition for implementing the real-name system. Players in the Dream Game are equal; you don’t have to humble yourself before the nobility in the game, nor tolerate anyone forcing the poor and weak to submit. Tiffany’s eyes burned with a flame when she repeated the statement, exuding the majesty of a queen.
"We have together established these ’fair and just’ regulations. Everyone should remember these rules as this is the agreement reached between myself, Tiffany, the mistress of the Dream Forest, and all of you. Under the witness of the Spirit of Nature, the pact of the elves shall remain forever pure." Tiffany did not voice any otherwise, that would be the task of the governing officer Susanna, the queen’s foster mother, who was accustomed to managing the darker aspects of royal authority. Even though Tiffany had come of age twenty years before, Susanna was still reluctant to hand over some of the discordant tasks to her, even though Tiffany had already learned how.
The Elf Queen put her small feet up, her palm propping her chuckling cheek, as she watched the Druids slowly leaving the scene. Tiffany beckoned with a finger, and Kylo Servblade approached her side. The outwardly calm Mr. Kylo thought his mistress was about to settle scores after the fall; during the council, he indeed behaved submissively towards the Druids, which contradicted her.
Tiffany observed her Captain of the Queen’s Guard with a look of curiosity; the Eye of the Queen had turned into a crazed murderer in the game. The loss of face for Tiffany’s faction did not concern her much.
"My mother gave me a Dream Game slot, hmm... a month ago." Tiffany watched Kylo’s ever-changing expression and found it amusing, "I’ll lay it out clearly; from now on, I’ll carve out my own independent game time, squeeze some time out of state affairs. The extra workload can be divided and digested internally by you."
Indulging in play to the point of neglecting duties! A sign of becoming a degenerate!
Kylo, utterly loyal to the queen and with a clear sense of hierarchy, almost couldn’t restrain himself from pointing at Tiffany’s nose and scolding her. The disappointment and irritation of a strict parent witnessing their child instantaneously degrade consumed all of Kylo’s emotions. Then, he quieted down.
Kylo Servblade took a moment to think. Just a few minutes ago, along with other Dream Elves, he advocated that the Dream Game was a wholesome recreational activity beneficial to one’s mental and physical health, a ladder of progress for the Dream Elves. Accusing Queen Tiffany of neglecting her studies and losing her ambition to gaming now—wouldn’t that be a bit too hypocritical of him? He loosened his clenched fist, looking at Tiffany with a complex expression.
"So that’s why you brought up the topic of the Dream Game at the Moon Crown Council..."
"In order... In order to leave the Queen faction with no ground to challenge your gaming actions."
Pretending to be a stern ruler who opposes new things, instigating disputes between the Queen faction and the discordant Elders’ Council to unite against oneself, establishing clear terms to strengthen the rules of the Dream Game – in the end, everything was for Tiffany to have a better gaming experience.
Your clever and agile mind is so much like Susanna, and for the simple and pure purpose of playing games, you’re just like Irason.
As a queen endowed with both intelligence and innocence, Kylo marvels at the heir fostered by the two great leaders, his humble demeanor becoming even more respectful.
"My Queen, you truly... are full of surprises."
Tiffany patted her skirt and stood up from the throne. The elves had left the scene, and the air in the Moon Crown Council was filled with alluring red radiance. The Elf Queen stepped out with nimble grace, as if dancing; each time her toes touched the ground, red glows of Mana Pollen rose with the rhythm of her bouncing figure. The sounds of trees stretching, the singing of fairies, the screams of sprites – the night came alive.
Kylo Servblade sidestepped the dancing Tree Demon Forest Spirits, following his mistress out of the natural celebration’s venue.
The dignity seated upon the throne, the vitality dancing among the sprites – the current Tiffany had a different expression altogether. The Elf Queen held her hands against her left cheek, her sparkling large eyes were incredibly cute; she puckered her lips, the sound she made as if it were hiding inside a pink bubble.
"Big shot, carry me."
Kylo Servblade laughed. He reiterated that the Servblade family were the royal family’s most steadfast supporters, and among them, Kylo was a staunch member of the Queen’s Guard. He was utterly loyal to the Queen, loyally carrying out every command she issued. As per the third rule of the Dream Game, abandoning the distinctions of status, Kylo Servblade vowed to let Tiffany experience the warmth of the game.
He gave a standard assassin-style reply.
"Beat it, I don’t carry dead weight."
