Chapter 528: Chapter 482 Another Bride

The fragments displayed in front of the statue of the sufferer, the sword guard, blade, hilt, and the ruby.

Silvette knelt in front of the statue, praying devoutly.

A glow emanated from the statue’s brow, slowly expanding, encompassing the sword fragments, as well as the praying girl.

Verlet shielded her eyes from the intense light, while Ralph simply pulled up his coat and wrapped himself completely, much like a creature of darkness that shunned the light.

The warm glow soon dissipated, and Silvette continued to pray, but before her, those fragments had transformed into an exquisite longsword. Its surface, reminiscent of Holy Silver, gleamed with a somber light. The blood-red ruby set into the sword guard was like an angry eye, flanked by wing decorations that came together to form a pair of Wings of Revenge.

The Angel’s Cursed Sword.

Silvette opened her eyes, those beautiful amethyst eyes now tainted with a touch of the sacred light’s purity. She stood up, bowed to Ralph and the others, feeling as if she had become an experienced nun. The young lady’s haughtiness had given way to mature gentleness, and her instant growth seemed like a transformation into someone else.

"I fear it will be difficult for me to repay you both for your efforts on behalf of Degonris. What I can do is, in a few days, bring an end to all of Degonris’s troubles, freeing you both. The angels have imparted the ritual to me, and I need two days of rest. At that moment, I will use the Angel’s Curse to kill the sinful bloodline of Loshutar."

"Please be patient. Everything is over, Degonris is now safe," she said.

Silvette wore a smile, and taking Verlet’s hand, exchanged a joyous look.

Ralph turned and walked towards the outside of the building.

"Mr. Ralph." 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

The girl’s call made the wicked wolf glance back.

The young girl, who used to be startled in front of Ralph, now bore a steady smile without a trace.

"Please continue to live on in your unique style, carrying my share as well..." Maturity was just an appearance the girl had set for herself. A struggle emerged on Silvette’s face for a moment, then sank into that sweet smile.

"You don’t need to tell me." Ralph pulled down the brim of his hat and pushed open the chapel’s front door.

The townspeople of Degonris seemed to sense something; they still held earthen pots carrying food, but their steps had halted, rooted in place like plants, staring blankly at the holy light emerging from the cross atop the chapel.

Light, under the gloom.

...

"Is that... holy light?" Kevin gazed at the orb of light emerging in the center of town, surprised.

What do vampires have to do with holy light?

"Although the divine power is diluted to nearly non-existent, that is indeed a manifestation of holy light," affirmed the nameless gentleman. "There’s no doubt it’s the power of holy light, but compared to Mr. Raymond, it’s so feeble it’s heartbreaking."

"Could it be the time is approaching?" Kevin murmured to himself, ultimately choosing to remain hidden.

"Not yet; it’s still slightly lacking."

...

The Loshutar Castle.

Duke Delaries made his appearance in the great hall, after another bout of feasting by everyone. Blood and red wine stained everything in the hall, every self-proclaimed elegant noble covered in wounds.

"The ceremony is about to begin, my progeny, today you will have the great honor of witnessing the birth of a new king."

"But first, come, let us get to know our new member."

"Another vampire bride, the Purifier, Miss Paladin Karen."

Karen Pembai was dressed in a striking red gown, her features meticulously made up, blooming like a flower bud at first flush, her seductive aura like a soul-entrapping philter, with those eyes full of hatred serving as the perfect finishing touch, a forbidden allure enough to make the vampires’ blood boil. Clasped in Karen’s hands was a bouquet of bright red roses, the decorations of red strings resembling a kind of shackle spell. Behind her, two tall men in bright red robes followed closely.

"Miss Karen will assist Joshua in the ceremony and complete the Kiss of Blood with him, her pure blood shall cleanse this era of radiance. My children, welcome your new sister, she will become another wife to Joshua, sharing my son with Beatrice."

Beatrice’s face was all smiles, but her hands behind her back were already twisting a pinch into Lyle’s side.

Only Lyle at her side could hear the woman gritting her teeth.

"Damn bastard, I knew I was just an add-on. Dammit... I will tear that bastard apart..."

Lyle put on a forced smile, the twitch at the corner of his mouth making it quite twisted.

"The one taking you as wives is that Joshua, why are you pinching me?"

Beatrice bowed her head then turned to look up at Lyle, "You’re even more despicable than him."

Beatrice was a combination of beauty, little devil, and vanity. She was as confident in her own charms as she was proud of the Naslan Family, but the current situation was definitely a heavy blow. Being reduced to an add-on bride, it was clear Karen was held in higher esteem by the Loshutars. Despite Beatrice feeling disgusted with joining the Loshutar Family, she was also very annoyed at the moment.

The introduction by Duke Delaries created two focal points of vampire attention, one on the newly adorned Paladin Karen, and the other on Beatrice, formerly the most radiant woman in the hall. This made it very easy for Karen to spot the other vampire bride, as well as the groomsman being hugged by the bride.

Lord Lyle.

The hatred in Karen’s eyes vanished for an instant, a spark of surprise flashing in those black pearl-like pupils; she shifted her gaze immediately to prevent the vampire grand duke and the Blood Knights from becoming alert.

Lyle breathed a sigh of relief; Karen had grown quite a bit.

A snicker sounded at his ear; Beatrice rested playfully on Lyle’s shoulder.

"Our bride isn’t very good at acting, dear brother-in-law, let’s give her a hand, and entertain me a little in the process."

"What?"

Before Lyle could react, Beatrice was already coiled around him like a snake, leaning into him and looking at Karen with a provocative gaze. Her right hand crept up from Lyle’s thigh, inching upward in a lover-like caress that captured all of Karen’s attention.

Purifier Lord witnessing the defilement by a witch right before her eyes, Karen’s gaze was locked deadly on Beatrice.

"Sorceress!"

Karen, on the verge of losing control, was immediately restrained by two Blood Knights, her fury interpreted as the hostility of the holy light toward vampires.

As for Beatrice’s provocative actions, it was probably a demonstration of authority by the mistress and dissatisfaction with the arrangements of the Loshutar Family.

Delaries did not care, because everything was proceeding according to plan.

"The ceremony is about to begin."
