Chapter 469: Chapter 431 Yino’s Death

The writhing flesh monster, with a ferocious skull encrusted where its left chest once was, bellowed a roar at its enemies in front.

"Echel you old undead bastard, what the hell are you still looking at! Get your ass over here and save me now!!!"

In the face of his old friend’s plight, the Ranger Former King and the other members of Twilight Memories burst into hearty laughter.

Lina could no longer bear the old timer’s attitude.

"Defenders!"

Three knights raised their lances high, and without steeds, the valiant knights swung their spears, unleashing tremendous force, crushing these undead creatures.

A skeleton wearing a gleaming crown was rescued, its bones still smeared with squirming red flesh. Amidst the mockery of his companions, the former king Lucimar brushed off the disgusting bugs from his body.

"Thank you, Lina." Taking the cloak passed by Queen Dreya, Lucimar covered his skeletal frame, "Those damn bastards, they deserve to suffer the same humiliation as me!"

"These monsters aren’t very strong in attack, or else we would have lost more."

Lucimar rejoined the team, observing the members of Twilight Memories, some sharing his plight, while others remained unscathed.

The spatial transfer changed their location, and those with luck on their side remained ungnawed, unlike Lucimar, who fared the worst.

"Damn usurper! I’ll strangle him!" Filled with indignation, Serio’s wrongdoing aroused the wrath of Twilight Memories.

Lina and Kayla stood together, the Defender and Specter Hunter holding back the onslaught of monsters, with the advancing Defenders forming a safe zone.

"Why aren’t we affected by the corruption?"

Reed stood behind his granddaughter, sensing an opportunity to mend their strained relationship.

"We are kings, the pinnacle of all that is splendid and vile in a nation, our will tested by trials enough to withstand those mad whispers." That’s what is said, ’The salt a man eats is more than the rice you consume.’ "A dethroned monarch, the despair and unwillingness, the degeneration and madness he once faced, are beyond the imagination of the Evil God, who appears to be under thirty." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Lina remembered waking up after the teleportation, the enraged former king breaking through the tide of monsters to stand by her side, which slightly lessened her dissatisfaction with Reed, despite his arrival with those loyal Defender knights.

"Your Highness, are you hurt at all? Let me check you for external injuries!"

"Impudence! The noble body of a princess is not for your filthy hands to touch! Benjamin, take off your blood-stained arm armor!!!"

"Alright, alright..." With a bang, Benjamin set down his weapon, and Lina stood next to the silent Reed, past the knights who had come to offer their warm regards.

"What about us, then? The armies of Dreya and Liveser weren’t corrupted either."

Reed’s voice reverberated within his helmet, resounding beside Lina’s ear, with the tone of a king.

"The power of a king, to protect his own people, isn’t that a given?"

"And King Irene..."

"Every power has its limits; we were merely enduring the crazed interference. As for Irene, pierced on the spot by evil forces, compared to the corruption he suffered, what we experienced was but a drop in the ocean."

"That’s our current mission," Echel approached, "our numbers have gathered, now we must immediately head to the central square. Irene is the magical epicenter of this catastrophe; we have to save him!"

City of Wandering, other areas.

"Wooooo!!!!"

The Spine Wheel crushed flesh and rushed wildly on the former streets, as Liches erupted in laughter, relishing the unbridled madness.

"By the bones above! No speed limit, no law enforcers, I just love it here so much!"

Then, the Lich who uttered these words was rammed, along with its wheel, into a building by another Spine Wheel.

Commanding other Liches to halt, one stood atop the bone wheel and spoke.

"Our job is to rescue, do not forget our original mission!"

"Andrey, Professor Emeritus, are there still any left in the City of Wandering?"

"No, the professors returned to Andrey first thing to continue their research, only we remain here."

"Now, the members closest to the professor are only your Necromancer Figure Club, which includes the group of four with the Plague Doctor and the three from the Literature Society."

"I can understand why the Plague Doctor would be close to the Spirit Summoning Studies professor, but what does the Literature Society have to do with any subject? Aren’t they just pure death-seeking Liches?"

"Sociology? Psychology? Finance? I have no idea, but if you ask me to choose the Literature Society as the leader, I’d defect right now."

So, the Necromancer Figure Club became the temporary decision-maker for Andrey, and with the Plague Doctor absent, a slightly more serious manipulation became the interim leader.

"My friends, the City of Wandering is now thoroughly corrupted. We escaped a disaster by using the flesh disguise of our boss, the Plague Doctor..."

The flesh disguise was the reason they could resist the corruption, as Andrey’s Liches had proven with experiments.

"Now is the doomsday of the entire city! If we don’t intervene, do you know what will happen?"

"Die again?"

"No need to pay back debts?"

"Are we going to share a grave with the Literature Society?"

The attempt to motivate the Liches with the same survival instinct rhetoric that Mr. Illustrious once used was a foolish act.

"Everyone! Set out to find Scholar sir, our boss, the Plague Doctor, will surely head there too. We need a mission. The City of Wandering is one of our territories; it mustn’t be degraded into a boring flesh experiment site."

Light and Shadow Zone.

The remnants of the Night of Impossibility still lingered on the flesh-woven floor. Flesh tendrils climbed up the broken buildings, the dream-like blue plague floated in the air, and trails of blood left by squirming monsters covered the place, just like the spilled drinks scattered around after a wild party.

The sign of the Bloody Rose Bar, covered in tubes, has been parasitized by a lump of meat that came from who knows where, desperately trying to squeeze its heavy clumps of blood into the flowing vines of wine.

Panicked flesh monsters roared, tumbling and crawling to divide themselves along the sides of the street.

The visitors stood before the broken scenery, looking at the once familiar place with a nostalgic expression.

"Yino!"

William, walking on frost, ignited the surrounding monsters, appeared in front of Serio.

William’s gaze fixed on Yino’s intact body, resting on the glowing key in his hand.

"It was you after all."

"Yes," Yino’s gaze did not leave the sign of the Bloody Rose Bar, "I borrowed your identity, controlled the contamination of your city, and corrupted all its residents."

Rock spikes pierced through Yino’s body. Without defense or evasion, the Evil God’s juvenile form, like a toy, was lifted on the spikes, and those lips, vomiting blood, still spoke calmly.

"I needed to do this. As a city that poses a great threat to Triton, a city that can support and join the battlefield at any time, it is troublesome."

"Is that your reason for torturing them? Candy, Loren, Gulelia, Beatrice, the companions from the bar, they accepted you unconditionally! You monster!"

"That is also why I will accompany you in death with this body named Yino. That is why you are killing me."

Not showing the distorted power of the Evil God, the blood flowed down along the stone spikes. Yino’s breathing gradually ceased, and the key controlling the Moon Nafar magic network node fell to the ground.

"He’s just an empty shell," said Nameless, who followed, glancing at Yino, "A duplicate."

Yino, devoid of life, kept talking.

"Return what belongs to its rightful owner."

William picked up the key on the ground, looking puzzled.

"Why did you do this?"

Before the flesh could rot and dissolve, the individual named Yino spoke his last words.

"I did my utmost to raise a star. I wanted to see it shine... or wither in a corner I cannot see."
