Academic gathering with a lich-Chapter 116 - 112 Far Traveler Aryan
Alianna began to scold Beatrice, who poured herself a glass of wine.
Perfect, Alianna’s thoughts were now entirely focused on whether liches could get drunk, along with her own criticisms.
As nagging as a mother but usually acting like a clueless little girl, it really made no sense how Alianna could be a child of the Naslan family, being as dumb as a block of wood, nothing like me and my sister Helena.
Beatrice gulped down the crimson liquid from her wine glass, completely ignoring Alianna’s remarks. Ah, how refreshing, the first glass of chilled red wine after getting up truly is delicious.
What Beatrice didn’t notice was this particular sentence.
"Really, it’s beyond my understanding how Beatrice could be a kid in our Naslan family, acting as mischievous as a little fairy, so unlike me and my sister Helena."
The conversation took a turn.
"But still, thank you, Beatrice. Did you bring the Plague Doctor to our doorstep? When the ghost and I were out for a walk, I saw the Plague Doctor in front of the house, and it felt like receiving a birthday gift."
Beatrice looked utterly bewildered.
"Silly Alianna, I’ve just woken up, just came out of the wine cellar with some food, who would care about your Mr. Plague Doctor." Vampires are nocturnal, so this was Beatrice’s morning.
"Strange, how did the Plague Doctor find the entrance, was it a coincidence?"
Beatrice’s lips clung to the rim of her wine glass, leaving a seductive lipstick mark on the glass surface. She seemed to have thought of something, her face brimming with amusement.
She leaned into her sister and wrapped her arms around Alianna’s slender waist from behind, "Sister Alianna, I have a secret, do you want to know what it is?"
Alianna looked at Beatrice’s fluttering big eyes. That expression, just like when Beatrice stole candies from her hands when they were little.
"I’d rather not know."
"It’s a really big secret, so huge that your jawbone might fall off." 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Alianna knocked on Beatrice’s head and walked toward the castle, "My bones have been strengthened by the power of the soul, my jawbone won’t fall off!"
"It’s just a metaphor. What I mean is you will be very surprised, want to know? It’s about your Mr. Plague Doctor."
"I don’t want to, because it’s hard to hear the truth from Beatrice’s mouth."
"It is true, I swear what I’m saying is absolutely genuine."
"Really? Then go ahead and tell."
"It’s just that... are you tricking me?"
"Tsk," Alianna didn’t wait any longer and continued toward the castle, "Let’s move, teatime is almost over."
"Alianna has turned into a bad person," Beatrice followed closely behind.
.........
The Hammer of Holy Light struck the Shield of the Holy Light, and other than sparks and noise echoing through the darkness, nothing else happened.
This scene had been going on for about an hour.
Aryan estimated his time, then refreshed another layer of the Shield of Holy Light on his body, even though there wasn’t a single crack in the original Light Shield.
Karen’s warhammer was stuck in the ground, and she was catching her breath beside it.
This little calf still knows fatigue, huh? That Light Hammer had been tinkling on his Holy Shield for an hour, Aryan almost thought the girl had become an inhuman creature with extraordinary talents.
"Tired? Need a break?"
"Not at all, I will not compromise with a thief who stole my armor. Just wait, I’ll shatter your turtle shell in no time!"
Karen, provoked, entered a state of rage, her attack speed surpassing her norm.
Aryan covered his face beneath the Light Shield.
He had forgotten that this girl had a temper like a powder keg, ready to explode at the slightest touch; by the looks of it, he might have to wait another hour.
An hour had passed, and Karen, exhausted, fainted.
When she awoke again, Karen found herself lying on someone else’s thighs, with that detestable armor facing her.
The thief who had stolen the armor handed her a piece of buttery bread, which Karen ultimately could not resist due to hunger. As she nibbled on the bread, she didn’t forget to take care of her dignity.
"It tastes much worse than what Sister Verlet used to bring me to eat."
These words caused Aryan to be slightly angered. She grasped Karen’s little ear from her messy hair and lifted it.
"Ow! It hurts! You thief of clothes! Let go!" As a child, Karen was naughtier than most kids, and her father had frequently twisted her ears, which, over time, had become her Achilles’ heel – a kind of weakness that made her incapable of resisting once seized.
Aryan’s voice sounded in Karen’s ear.
"What did your father teach you to say when you receive someone else’s gift, hmm?"
"Thank you! Thank you for the food!"
Aryan let Karen go, and she immediately shrank to the ground. Under her blond hair, her head drooped powerlessly, making Karen feel like a defeated rooster.
Seeing her miserable state, Aryan felt a pang of compassion. She reached out to Karen, gently brushed the golden hair from her ear, which was now red and hot as if it had been roasted, and Aryan began summoning Holy Light to ease Karen’s pain.
The coolness on her ear made Karen much more spirited, and the dignity of the Pembai Family awakened once again.
So Karen became stubborn once more.
"Hmph, Pure One Lord Liches’ healing is definitely much better than yours."
Aryan revealed a smile.
"Ouch!!!! Sister!!! Pretty sister!!! Karen was wrong!!! Thank you for your healing!!! Waaah waaah waaah!"
When Aryan released her hand, Karen’s armor of light instantly dissipated, and Karen, sitting crouched on the ground, was crying in nun’s attire, tears streaming down her face like rain.
It’s over, her armor was definitely gone for good, and if she went home, she’d get her ears twisted by her father again, waaah waaah....
Aryan looked at Karen sitting on the ground, only now showing her girlish side.
She reached out to part the sticky blond hair on Karen’s forehead and helped wipe the tears from the corners of her eyes.
"You really inherited the stubbornness and the knack for trouble from Dolanko to perfection; you are truly his daughter."
Karen looked at the thief through her tears.
"You know my father?"
Aryan hesitated for a while, "Yes, I know him, and I’m good friends with your aunt."
Karen’s eyes widened significantly, "You and my aunt are friends? Really? It’s been so long since I’ve seen my aunt. Father said she went to work at the Church of the Holy Light at the far frontier."
Aryan was silent for a few seconds, her hand caressing Karen’s cheek, "Yes, your aunt went to a place that is very, very distant."
"Are you my aunt’s colleague? Is that Church of the Holy Light really that far? So far that my aunt never came back to see me over all these years, even though she used to hold me a lot when I was little. She should really like me."
"Our work is pretty busy, and your aunt just couldn’t get away. She asked me to come and check on you."
"Then you stole my armor, do you realize I’ve been scared to go home, fearing that my father would beat me."
"... I urgently need your armor right now, and besides, didn’t I give you a set of nun’s clothes? The ones you’re wearing."
"What use is that, can a nun’s outfit compare to a silver knight’s armor?"
"If you wear this nun’s outfit home, your father definitely won’t beat you."
"Why?"
"Because this is your aunt’s nun’s outfit."
"Your aunt, Far Traveler Aryan Pembai’s nun’s outfit."
