Chapter 375: Chapter 32: The Caravan Sets Out

Yevgenia moved into the Human Mansion as Sasa’s guardian, so the people living in this big house could witness scenes such as these—

"Sasa, come have some fruit."

"Sasa, what do you like to eat?"

"Is this what human cooking utensils are like?"

"Do you have someone you like? When are you planning to get married?"

Yevgenia was almost always revolving around Sasa all day; as soon as Sasa appeared in the public areas, she would appear by Sasa’s side first thing.

Sasa couldn’t say she was annoyed, but she did find it hard to accept Yevgenia’s kindness.

Fortunately, the caravan would only rest at the Human Mansion for two days before setting off for other Elf Cities.

This wasn’t necessarily good news for Sasa, because Yevgenia also got into the armored vehicle driven by Yan Luo.

The armored vehicle could fit even someone as burly as Yan Luo, not to mention Yevgenia, who was shorter than him.

Yevgenia sat elegantly in the back seat, her legs together, curiously observing the interior of the armored car.

This car was Sasa’s mobile laboratory; essentially, it had no back seats, with an experiment table right behind the driver’s cabin.

However, to protect Sasa, Yevgenia placed a chair next to the experiment table, staying in the same car with Sasa.

In the driver’s cabin, Yan Luo and Sasa were discussing the introduction of the internet to Gass City.

"Sewing machines, farm tools, and now the blast furnace transported this time—Gass City has already acquired basic production capabilities. Though full industrialization might not be possible, the increase in productivity is notable." Sasa said wistfully.

Gass City’s boost in productivity was all thanks to the support from their caravan.

They sold these production materials to Gass City at very favorable prices, and to exchange for these machines, Gass City brought out their most treasured items.

—Materials produced from demons!

When the caravan came before, they couldn’t get these items from Gass City, as the city’s Lord only traded them for items that could be repeatedly produced.

Perhaps seeing their sincerity from the trades with those machines, the Lord of Gass City traded with them using materials from demons this time.

Some of these materials had never appeared on Blue Star, and were incredibly valuable, with just one piece obtaining a furnace two generations ahead of common market steel plants.

Gass City’s productivity would be greatly enhanced, and with more resources, they could naturally trade for even more things from them.

Thus, Yan Luo and Sasa discussed and realized the thing most likely to interest the elves now was the ’internet.’

All it needed was the installation of over a thousand signal towers in the city, and Gass City could construct a local network, bridging the distance between elves.

Many elves never leave their district throughout their lives, so constructing a local network in the city might make the atmosphere more lively and the elves’ minds more active.

Once the signal towers are installed, with twenty network device automated maintenance machines, as long as the elves don’t mess around with them, the network could maintain itself until the equipment aged to an unusable state.

The Lord of Gass City might be interested in this proposal. Yan Luo and Sasa planned to discuss this matter with him after returning from this trading trip.

While Yan Luo and Sasa were chatting, the convoy had already left Gass City’s barrier.

Besides Yan Luo, the others tacitly activated the life support system and put it in standby mode, ready to trigger if a crisis appeared.

As for Yan Luo?

He didn’t need it.

As long as it wasn’t a vacuum environment, Yan Luo could live well anywhere.

Even if he fell into lava or non-Newtonian fluids, he could emerge unscathed and free.

Even when submerged deep into the ocean, Yan Luo could use his magnetic field powers to electrolyze the surrounding seawater, producing oxygen for himself.

In Alfheim, places outside the cities resembled large abysses, home to many demons, including city-breaking level demons and possibly disaster-level demons.

For an Engraver, Alfheim was an excellent place to enhance one’s strength.

However, if unlucky, one might encounter a doomsday-level demon.

Such grade demons do undeniably exist in Alfheim, each with its own name and defined territory.

Doomsday-level demons occasionally venture out of their territories for a stroll but mostly remain within their own lands, day after day.

Unless extremely unlucky, encountering them outside their territories is less probable than suddenly falling into a pit while walking, a pit that leads straight to the earth’s core.

Shortly after leaving Gass City, the team encountered a city-breaking level demon.

Helena personally handled her gun and led the group in a kite-and-tackle strategy to gradually wear the demon down to death.

It was Yevgenia’s first time seeing humans battle demons, and witnessing Helena and the others’ performance, she couldn’t help but exclaim, "So this is how humans fight..."

Even though human strength was comparatively weaker than demons, they could flexibly use tactics, cooperatively working together, using weapons to hunt demons stronger than themselves without any damage.

In elf society, this was unimaginable.

Most elves adhered to individualism; expecting them to coordinate so well was akin to expecting them to become human.

Even when hunting a single demon, elves mostly fought individually, using quick reflexes to observe other elves and swiftly calculate their next move.

This kind of coordination was merely a reflection of individual elven strength.

However, human coordination resembled machinery, with everyone having their role and task. Yet, in this manner, they seamlessly coordinated, like interlocking gears, each person’s action leading to another’s action, which continued to pass on, ultimately achieving a mechanically perfect operational effect.

After killing the city-breaking level demon, the team temporarily halted to let the Hunters process the demon’s corpse.

For an ordinary demon, this might not be necessary, but what the city-breaking level demon yielded was quite valuable, worth pausing for processing.

When it came to processing demon corpses, the Red Rose Warband became increasingly adept, making it hard to imagine their clumsiness and awkwardness when first handling a demon’s body.

After processing the corpse, the convoy set out once more.

The next stop for the convoy was still Mayin City, the closest city to Gass City, serving as a transit and resting point before heading to any elven city.

Sasa received a portion of the demon’s flesh and blood, diving into her laboratory, fully engrossed in researching the differences between demons in the Alfheim Wilderness and those in the Blue Star Abyss, not even glancing away from Yevgenia’s gaze.

Not long after Sasa dove into the laboratory, the convoy encountered city-breaking level demons once more,

Except this time, they encountered two.

A fog-spewing toad lay on the riverbank, facing off against a stoat.

The dense forest had receded from the convoy’s side, replaced by a wide, boundless plain.

The convoy was planning to trace the river upstream to Mayin City, but they met the two city-breaking level demons instead.

Further complicating matters, upon the convoy’s arrival, the two city-breaking level demons chose to call a truce and shifted their gaze towards the convoy.

Yan Luo lightly tapped his fingers on the steering wheel, gazing indifferently at the two demons.

He was waiting for Helena’s instruction.

If Helena said to fight, he would charge straight in; if Helena decided to take another route, he would drive off, not wasting time here.

Helena indeed had fallen into deep thought.

If they fought, it would delay time; if they didn’t, they’d have to detour a lengthy distance, possibly still encountering city-breaking level demons in pursuit.

Hence, in that case...

[Yan Luo, let’s fight, which one do you want?]

Hearing Helena’s voice, Yan Luo silently opened the car door and stepped out.

"Let’s take them both!"

Once outside, Yan Luo’s figure vanished instantly, appearing the next second above the toxic toad, delivering a punch to its back.
