Chapter 358: Chapter 15: Interaction

Wang Lingyu wasn’t a Hunter, nor did she plan to hunt Demons with Yan Luo when she entered Alfheim, so she didn’t bring any weapons.

However, Yan Luo’s armored vehicle had plenty of weapons, surely there would be something she could use.

Wang Lingyu chose the Sequence of [Mage]; with preparation, this Sequence has decent survival capabilities. Even if attacked, as long as she can activate the Engraving, she can protect herself.

Although the [Mage] itself is fragile when the Engraving is activated, it can use Magic to protect itself. For other Sequences, if they cannot activate the Engraving, they cannot protect themselves well.

Wang Lingyu picked a rugged-looking rifle from Yan Luo’s weapon box. As to why she chose it, she said, "Because this gun feels like you."

Yan Luo was speechless at Wang Lingyu’s romantic notions.

But the gun she chose was indeed good. It was an electromagnetic rifle, capable of firing nearly fourteen hundred rounds per minute, limited only by its ammunition capacity.

This electromagnetic rifle, named ’Thunder Sound,’ used tiny spherical pellets as bullets, with a capacity of two hundred. It could penetrate eight-millimeter steel plates within fifty meters, and even the muscles of Dangerous-level Demons.

Moreover, its recoil was nearly nonexistent, and its bullet spread could focus on a single point.

As long as it could penetrate a deflection shield, it also posed a threat to lethal-level Demons.

Wang Lingyu held the electromagnetic rifle to her chest and followed Yan Luo out of the armored vehicle.

"See that Demon?"

Yan Luo pointed ahead and asked Wang Lingyu.

Wang Lingyu looked closely but couldn’t find the Demon Yan Luo was referring to among a bunch of bushes, and shook her head in confusion.

Yan Luo furrowed his brows slightly and tapped Wang Lingyu’s helmet with his finger, "Your exoskeleton is equipped with multiple reconnaissance modules. If you want to hunt Demons, you need to learn to use them. Other Hunters activate the exoskeleton’s reconnaissance module when observing Demons, only I observe with the naked eye."

Upon hearing this, Wang Lingyu became interested, "You observed with your naked eye before you became a ’Saint’ too?"

"That’s right," Yan Luo nodded.

"Amazing..."

With admiration, Wang Lingyu used her personal terminal to search for the exoskeleton reconnaissance module and quickly found several programs.

She first activated the infrared scan, and the next second, a high-heat object appeared in the view ahead.

"That’s a rabbit!" Wang Lingyu exclaimed excitedly in a low voice. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

Though Demons in Alfheim would surely be different from those on Blue Star, Yan Luo shook his head, denying Wang Lingyu’s guess.

"No, that should be a rodent, it looks more like a rat."

Because this Demon had a longer tail compared to the Lagomorpha, dragging behind it, seemingly able to sense ground vibrations.

"Since you can see it now, shoot it," knowing Wang Lingyu was a novice, Yan Luo straightforwardly gave her an order.

Wang Lingyu didn’t argue with Yan Luo, smilingly raised the gun, framed the Demon in her scope, and gently pressed the trigger following Yan Luo’s previous instructions.

The Thunder Sound rifle didn’t have a single-shot mode, only four-round burst and full-auto.

A burst of four bullets fired out, successfully hitting the Demon’s body and killing it.

"Yes!" Wang Lingyu cheered.

The next second, Yan Luo grabbed her body and leaped aside.

Boom!

As Yan Luo led Wang Lingyu away, a boulder fell to where they had just been, creating a dent in the ground.

Wang Lingyu was frightened, leaning dazed against Yan Luo’s chest.

"Wha-what just happened?" Wang Lingyu’s speech seemed to malfunction a bit.

Yan Luo looked towards the direction the stone flew from, seeing a gorilla standing with its arms propping on the ground.

"Oo oo oo!"

The enormous gorilla beat its chest and charged at them without hesitation.

"Raise your gun and shoot," Yan Luo calmly said to Wang Lingyu.

"Eh?" Wang Lingyu was suddenly flustered.

She looked at the rifle in her hands, then at the approaching gorilla, feeling a twinge of fear.

"Don’t be afraid, it’s just a lethal-level Demon."

Yan Luo’s words gave Wang Lingyu courage, she bit her lip and raised her gun at the gorilla.

"Don’t forget to switch to full-auto mode," Yan Luo reminded again.

Wang Lingyu hastily adjusted the shooting mode and pulled the trigger before the gorilla reached them.

Quietly, a stream of bullets fired out.

Clearly, this Demon’s muscles couldn’t withstand eight-millimeter thick steel plates, the gorilla’s chest immediately gushed with blood.

Two seconds later, the gorilla sluggishly felt the pain, howling miserably.

But by then, Wang Lingyu had already emptied an entire magazine.

The rifle’s bullets easily pierced through the gorilla’s skin, even its muscles were perforated.

In Alfheim, Demons outside the Secret Realm didn’t have deflection shields, firearms could easily harm them.

Seeing a Demon bleeding profusely from her shots, Wang Lingyu’s excitement flushed her face, though it was hidden behind her visor, so Yan Luo couldn’t see.

"Not bad, you’ve got some aptitude," Yan Luo nodded, affirming Wang Lingyu’s actions.

Many novices aspiring to become Hunters would be frightened upon encountering mutated creatures for the first time, even with protectors by their side, they dared not shoot.

Even though Wang Lingyu only knew how to pull the trigger to shoot, compared to those who didn’t dare shoot at all, she was already quite commendable.

Before the gorilla completely rampaged, Yan Luo threw a punch, bursting its head open in the air.

Brain matter and blood splattered radiantly back, the headless corpse suddenly lost its strength, wobbled a bit, and collapsed with a crash.

Wang Lingyu was startled, turning to grumble at Yan Luo, "What are you doing?"

"You’re still too inexperienced to take on that Demon alone, it’s not suitable to be your first opponent."

Though as a novice, Wang Lingyu had already performed quite well, considerably above average, facing a lethal-level Demon, even without a deflection shield, was still too difficult.

Wang Lingyu was already a Sequence 4 Engraver with two Engravings, but she had never learned combat, not even knowing how to shoot while moving.

Wang Lingyu sulkily pouted.

Even though she knew Yan Luo was right, she couldn’t help feeling annoyed.

If Wang Lingyu faced that lethal-level Demon alone, by the time it got close, she would definitely be at a loss, only thinking to flee, then get caught and killed.

At this moment, Wang Lingyu suddenly remembered something and asked, "Yan Luo, did you hunt mutated creatures on your first outing back then?"

Yan Luo recalled the past.

As soon as he reached the age allowed to venture out independently, that weekend, he took his prepared gear and left Lingquan City.

After his parents’ death, most of their compensation and inheritance were spent by Yan Luo on equipment, so on his first outing, he successfully hunted a mutated creature.

"I hunted a Dangerous-level mutated creature on my first outing," recalling his calm, almost monstrous self back then, even Yan Luo found it somewhat incredible.

The first mutated creature he encountered was Dangerous-level, yet he killed it without consuming many tactical tools.

Thinking back, Yan Luo found his past self unnaturally calm.

Especially since he used a shotgun back then, needing to bring the mutated creature within a certain distance before attacking.

Watching Yan Luo’s profile, Wang Lingyu couldn’t help but marvel: He is truly worthy of being Yan Luo. That’s why he could save her and her mother back then.

"Alright, I’ve taught you everything I should, now you go handle the Dangerous-level Demon on your own."

Yan Luo suddenly said, "I’ll observe from afar in the vehicle. If I judge you’re struggling, I’ll step in. But you’d better not pretend to be struggling, because I can easily tell."

"Huh?" Wang Lingyu stared at Yan Luo in shock.

Yan Luo moved swiftly, patting Wang Lingyu’s shoulder to encourage her, the next instant his figure appeared by the armored vehicle, opened the door, and got in.

Wang Lingyu was still in a daze, watching as Yan Luo drove away.

"Good luck, Lingyu, I believe you can do it!" Yan Luo tossed this sentence from behind the car window.

"I can’t!"

Wang Lingyu stamped her foot in frustration.

But the armored vehicle had already sped away, she likely couldn’t catch up, as Yan Luo would keep driving further.

With a cold huff, Wang Lingyu pulled a face, clutching the electromagnetic rifle, and headed in the opposite direction of the armored vehicle.
