Abandoned Luna: Now Untouchable-Chapter 418 Secrets and Alliances
Cecilia’s pov
"Next time, please refrain from being so... creative," I said coldly, each word clipped, the edge in my voice sharper than I intended.
What was she thinking?
Harper’s loyalty was never in question, but her impulsiveness could get her killed.
Xavier wasn’t someone you invited into your plans; he was the kind of man who turned alliances into weapons.
And now Alpha Gavin was here too—proof that Xavier still kept one foot firmly in the White family’s camp, no matter what lines had been drawn.
Xavier caught my guarded expression and seemed to read my thoughts.
His jaw flexed once, and for a moment, something almost human flickered in his gaze.
"She’s your best friend. I wouldn’t harm her," he said quietly.
I let out a cold laugh, ignoring his attempt at reassurance.
"What I’m curious about," I said, leaning back against the couch, arms folded across my chest, "is why Alpha Gavin decided to join your little expedition."
The sound came out low and humorless.
Xavier hesitated, his shoulders stiffening before he gave a short, practiced answer.
"He caught us following Luna Dora," he explained. "When we were discovered, Gavin helped us out of the situation."
"How incredibly kind of him," I drawled, the sarcasm rolling off my tongue before I could stop it.
The look I gave him could have frozen fire.
Xavier’s face clouded with confusion at my tone. "You spend every waking moment with Alpha Sebastian, and he hasn’t told you about his partnership with Alpha Gavin?"
I stayed quiet, my pulse speeding up.
The word partnership echoed in my mind.
Was it about trade, patrols, or some kind of truce?
None of those explained the smug look spreading across Xavier’s face.
Xavier’s eyes brightened as if he had figured something out.
He leaned forward, his voice low and cutting."So, Alpha Sebastian doesn’t trust you as much as you thought."
"Alpha Xavier."
Sebastian’s voice sounded calm, almost polite, but there was steel under every word. His eyes had turned cold and sharp.
"How thoughtful of you to stir up trouble at this hour," he said. "If you’re not too tired, you can find something useful to do elsewhere."
The mood in the room changed at once.
Sebastian’s power filled the air like a coming storm. Even the fire in the fireplace seemed to stop crackling.
Xavier gave a short laugh, hiding his tension behind arrogance.
He met Sebastian’s eyes for a long second, and the look they shared made my skin crawl.
It was clear they had a past, something dangerous that neither of them wanted to talk about.
"Should I find you two a private room?" I snapped. "We wouldn’t want to get in the way of whatever this is."
Both Sebastian and Xavier looked taken aback, clearly unprepared for my outburst.
For a heartbeat, silence swallowed the room, heavy and awkward.
Then Cassian’s rich, unbothered laugh cut through the tension like sunlight breaking through clouds.
"Alright," he said smoothly, his tone half amusement, half command.
"Sebastian, you can explain everything to Cecilia later. Now that Harper’s back safely, perhaps we should call it a night."
He glanced meaningfully at Xavier and Alpha Gavin. "If you gentlemen have other business, we can arrange another time. This isn’t exactly the most secure location for sensitive discussions."
His eyes moved slowly around the room, careful and sharp, reminding everyone that even the walls might be listening.
A small muscle in Xavier’s jaw tightened. He clearly understood the warning.
Xavier and Alpha Gavin did not know about the situation with Daisy.
They thought the Lawson estate was safe.
It was obvious they had come to talk about something serious.
"It’s nothing urgent," Alpha Gavin said. His tone was calm and polite, the kind that could ease any tension.
"I just wanted to check in with Alpha Sebastian about a few business matters. Since everyone is here, I thought it might be convenient. But you’re right, it’s late. I’ll leave now."
He rose, adjusting his coat with quiet dignity, while Xavier remained seated, making no move to follow.
"You go ahead," Xavier said. "I’ll stay a bit longer."
Alpha Gavin nodded and departed without another word, his footsteps fading into the corridor’s hush.
Once he left, Xavier looked at me with pleading eyes. The arrogance was gone, replaced by something real, maybe desperation or guilt.
"I need to talk to you in private," he said.
I opened my mouth to refuse, but before I could get a word out, Sebastian’s voice cut through the air.
"I don’t agree to that."
Xavier’s brows furrowed in irritation. "You don’t speak for her."
"No," Sebastian replied coolly, his tone calm but final, like a door closing. "But I can certainly have you thrown out. Tang, please escort our guest to the door."
"On it!" Tang jumped up eagerly, his body tensed like a spring, clearly ready for an excuse to drag Xavier out by force.
The energy between the two Alphas collided, thick and almost physical.
Even as a human, I could feel it crawling under my skin, pressing on my lungs like the air before lightning strikes.
"Stop it, both of you," I said sharply, my patience snapping.
I stepped forward, planting myself between them. "Xavier, this isn’t my home or yours, and it’s the middle of the night."
I sighed, rubbing my temple. "Whatever you need to tell me doesn’t have to happen now. When Alpha Gavin comes back to discuss his project, you’ll probably be with him. We can talk then, okay?"
Xavier looked at my face for a moment, then gave a slow nod.
"Fine. I’ll see you then," he said.
I didn’t answer.
My mind was already racing, clear and cold.
I knew exactly what he wanted.
He would try to talk me out of keeping the baby and make it sound like he cared about my safety, not his pride.
He hadn’t given up. Men like Xavier never did.
After Xavier left, Cassian glanced at his watch. "It’ll be dawn in a few hours. I might as well crash here and leave in the morning."
"Suit yourself," Sebastian said, not bothering to argue. His shoulders lowered slightly, the tension easing, but his eyes followed the door long after Xavier was gone.
Harper looked like she wanted to tell me everything she’d found while following Luna Dora.
Her fingers twitched, and I could almost see the words sitting on the tip of her tongue.
But when she noticed the fatigue on my face, she pressed her lips together and stayed quiet.
We went upstairs to the guest rooms on the third floor.
The house was finally quiet, and the stillness felt heavy after everything that had happened.
