Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 381 Bring her to see me
[Margaret’s perspective]
There shouldn’t be more than three guards outside the door. After killing this doctor and facing them, I would not be completely without a chance of winning.
The thought flashed through my mind, and just as I was about to forcefully snap Simo’s neck, he suddenly spoke up to stop me, "No, no, no! Wait a second! I haven’t told them about your pregnancy, they don’t know! Can you wait and listen to me first? I’m not one of Henry and Levi’s men, I’m here to help you, Lycan Queen!"
Upon hearing this, I stopped what I was doing and took a shallow breath, looking at Simo’s profile and saying coolly, "Just because you say you’re not, I should believe you? How do I know you aren’t just trying to save your own skin by lying to me?"
"It’s true! I’m not deceiving you. I told them you were just having an acute onset of a stomach issue and needed to stay in the hospital for quiet recuperation, that’s all. I didn’t mention your pregnancy! You see, you’re still safe and sound, doesn’t that prove I’m not lying! Can you let me go back to the bed first, and then I will explain slowly."
Simo babbled on, but I kept still, controlling him, my aura frighteningly cold.
Seeing that I remained silent and did not seem inclined to release him, Simo bit his teeth and said directly, "Actually, I’m one of the Empress Dowager’s men. Just now, by a fluke, Levi called me down to the basement. I had seen your photo before, so I recognize you. I won’t tell anyone else about your pregnancy, you can rest assured!"
Simo claimed to be Licia’s man, which surprised me!
After thinking about it, I let go of him. When he turned his face to look at me, I stared at him icily, "You are Licia’s man? Why would her people be on Poison Snake Island? Where is she now? Have you already told her about my situation?"
With his neck already turning blue and purple, Simo looked at me somewhat shrunkenly and explained, "Yes, Your Highness. As for why I am here... that’s a bit complicated. I’ll explain it to you after we get out of here, is that okay?"
I continued to look at him silently, and after pondering for a moment he added, "The Empress Dowager is staying in the western residence. I have reported your situation to her. She just instructed me to keep it secret and to take good care of you."
"Anything else? Didn’t she say anything else?" I asked in return, not really planning to trust this Simo.
I didn’t even trust Licia, let alone this Medical Practitioner of unclear origins.
Caught off guard, Simo seemed not to understand what I wanted to know, and he hesitantly lowered his head and stammered, "Empress Dowager... What exactly do you wish to know, Lycan Queen?"
Seeing this, I gave him a look before turning back to the bedside to put on my shoes, "Figure out a way to get me out of here. I want to see Licia in person; I have some matters I want to ask her myself!"
Simo stopped rubbing his neck, his eyes lowered as if he was pondering something, and after a long pause, he replied, "Henry’s men have turned this hospital into an impregnable fortress. If you want to get out of here, you need his permission, so it’s absolutely impossible to take you out in secret!"
He took a deep breath and continued, "I can relay your words to the Empress Dowager, and if she’s willing, I can bring her in to see you! But before that, you cannot leave here on your own, and you need to cooperate with the ’treatment’ I’m providing."
Throughout Simo’s speech, I just watched him coldly and said nothing in response.
Seeing my reaction, Simo became a bit anxious. He lowered his voice and continued, "I know you are reluctant to trust me now, but by no later than noon tomorrow, I can bring back the Empress Dowager’s response to you! They are watching you too closely; this is the only way I have!"
I slowly sat back on the hospital bed, emotionless, but inside, I began to plot rapidly!
I couldn’t verify the truthfulness of Simo’s words right now, but I also couldn’t proceed with my earlier plan—kill him and then break out directly.
If everything Simo said was true, and Licia ordered him to stay here to cover up the fact of my pregnancy and to take care of me, it would mean that Licia and I had consistent intentions regarding the protection of the child!
Licia’s status on the island was certainly higher than mine. I might be able to use her to escape or to pass some message to Donald.
Maybe my contemplation was taking too long because Simo’s worry and impatience were almost spilling out. I looked up at him indifferently and stated flatly, "If she does not come herself, then don’t bother to bring me any response. Whether I live or die has nothing to do with her; let her pray that Henry is defeated later rather than sooner so she has more time to think about how to face Donald!"
"Convey my words precisely to Licia. I’ll wait for her until 10 a.m. tomorrow. If she doesn’t come, I’ll take it as her truly giving up on Donald this time!"
After saying this, I waved Simo away, indicating he could leave if he wanted.
Seeing my resolute attitude, Simo dared not say more; he put down the utensils in his hands and turned to leave.
