Chapter 366: 366 ’Far Voyage’ Logistics

[Donald’s Perspective]

Gino burst into laughter upon hearing that. He glanced over and, without missing a beat, teased me, "So you’ve stumbled into this by pure luck and ended up doubling your achievements! Not bad at all, even if we can’t rescue the sister today, it’s not like we’re going back empty-handed!"

Me: "..."

"Oops! Sorry, that was out of line, I sometimes speak without thinking. Don’t mind me, ha!"

What responded to Gino was a dangerous look from me. Giving him a glance, I got down to business upon receiving the mind-link from the assault team’s Lycans, immediately bending over and taking long strides toward the ship.

With the assault team’s Lycans clearing the "obstacles" ahead, my boarding of the ship was eerily quiet. Gino followed behind me all the way, daring not to babble anymore!

Five minutes later, I was squatting in the cargo hold, patiently listening to two crew members grumble nearby.

"Damn our luck, we’ve been loading the ship all night and it’s still not done. I really don’t know what the captain is thinking. Are we going to wait out until daylight to set sail?"

"Idiot! It’s not that the cargo isn’t loaded. It’s obviously because the ’goods’ that were requested haven’t arrived yet, and the captain doesn’t dare move!"

"What goods? Don’t we just transport some regular supplies over there? Did the captain take on some other task this time?"

"Let me tell you, I just heard the captain talking to those guys on deck! They said something about the cargo being uncooperative, almost died after receiving a beatdown, and the doctor’s busy trying to save them!"

"My God! What have they captured? Is it a person?"

"Keep your voice down, idiot! Do you want others to hear too, or is your life not precious to you?"

Hearing this, the crew members lowered their voices even more. As my patience ran thin, I glanced at Christian, gesturing for him to go and ’invite’ them over!

Thanks to the ’warm-hearted’ aid of these two crew members, we quickly located the place where the ’goods’ were detained. Tapping one of the crew members on the head with my gun, I spoke softly, "Your buddy is indeed an idiot, but you’re not much better! Far Voyage must be paying you handsomely, otherwise you wouldn’t be doing this kind of life-threatening job."

The crew member, with broken teeth from Christian’s blow, of course couldn’t answer my question, nor was I actually interested in knowing. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

I signaled to take these two down first, then crouched low to approach the room where the people were detained. Before the guard at the door could spot me, I snapped his neck first.

My movements were too swift; he lost his life without a chance to cry out. I felt for the pocket on his chest and pulled out a key.

Staring at the tightly shut door two meters away, I felt my nerves tense up slowly. I started praying to see Margaret inside, yet dreaded the possibility of finding her covered in wounds.

Just then, Gino seemed to sense what I was thinking, took the keys from me, and stepped forward to open the door, "Don’t worry too much. The sister is a great person; surely nothing would’ve happened to her!"

Taking a deep breath, I followed him in, only to find the person I wished to see wasn’t there.

The room was pathetically small. After Gino and I entered, there was no more space for anyone else. Christian, compliant as ever, stood guard at the door, warily watching the corridor ahead.

"It’s not Margaret, which is good. At least it proves those two idiots weren’t talking about her as the ’goods’, and that she probably isn’t hurt." Gino said as he squatted down, carefully inspecting the little figure on the floor.

Looking at the blood-covered girl, Lisa, on the ground, my brow furrowed with anger, "If she’s here, it at least confirms we’re on the right track. Those who kidnapped Brand and Lisa are the same ones who abducted Margaret!"

Hearing my conclusion, Gino stood up, facing me with a puzzled expression, "So you know this little girl? Her name’s Lisa, isn’t it? Whose child is she?"

After finishing my piece, I turned and left the room without answering Gino’s question immediately, "Send two people down to take Lisa off the ship immediately. Benjamin should have returned to Black Sand Bay by now. Bring her to him for a look."

Christian nodded at my words, quickly went back into the room, and carried her out.

"You haven’t answered my question, Donald!" Gino stood beside me, watching Christian’s retreating figure disappear around the corner, pressing on with a hushed voice.

I turned to give him a glance, stepping forward to keep up, and didn’t forget to reply, "She’s Berton’s little daughter. Margaret was attacked and taken away because of those two siblings! She must know something; we need to pull back and get out of here for now."

"Huh? We’re not continuing to search for Margaret? It seems a bit unprofitable to retreat now. Can’t you still contact Margaret?"

Gino seemed taken aback by my sudden suggestion to retreat and asked, his last question being the real issue at hand.

Without breaking my stride, I paused for two seconds before responding softly, "They must have used the same method they did before, using a special agent to sever the mind-link between Margaret and me. And the moment I saw Lisa just now, I had an intuition that Margaret was no longer on this ship!"

"’Intuition’? Can we really rely on that?" Gino asked with a hint of skepticism.

I suppressed the agitation and anxiety in my heart and countered, "Do you have a better idea?"
