Chapter 340: 340 days of rooftop struggle

[Margaret’s Perspective]

I swatted away one of the men in black with a swipe of my claw, the wolf eyes shining with a bone-chilling cold light, "Get in my way again and I’ll kill you all! Get out of my way!"

With my body, I barged through the tightly shut doors. Just then, Betty suddenly shrieked a warning: "Move out of the way, Margaret, they’ve thrown a bomb in!"

"What?" I instinctively voiced out in question, but my body was already making evasive maneuvers. In the instant before the bomb exploded, Betty and I leaped backwards with almost supernatural speed!

’Bang!’

The massive sound caused the entire floor to tremble slightly. I crashed into the seats behind me, smashing through several chairs and sofas, nearly getting buried under them.

In such dangerous circumstances, I couldn’t stay put. Shaking my dizzy head, my wolf eyes turned toward the thoroughly ravaged doorway!

If inside was the battlefield, then outside must be hell, right? This question flickered through my mind as I stepped outside.

There were no longer any living people standing beyond the door, only blood and shards of glass on the floor, and of course, various corpses strewn haphazardly!

I was relieved not to see Benjamin or any of the others among them, but the scene still sent shivers down my spine and chilled my heart.

"Donald? Benjamin? Where are you guys now?"

No one responded to my question, so I frowned, turned, and left, heading toward another set of doors where Donald had been chasing Henry.

Because I had just created an exit, those who were still alive began to flee towards it, turning the scene into utter chaos. However, I had no energy to care about that now—my mind was consumed with concern for Donald and his group.

The men who pursued me on the second floor were merely a small part of Levi’s forces, while Donald and Elliot faced everyone he and Henry could muster in outright rebellion!

"Donald just chased them to the rooftop..."

This was Gino’s voice; I had been talking to him upstairs earlier.

I glanced sideways at him. Gino also looked in pretty bad shape, having apparently fought ferociously. He was now leaning against a wall, catching his breath!

"Thank you." I said, then headed out without further discussion.

Gino seemed taken aback by my urgency. He raised his hand, wanting to stop me but failed, "The rooftop is too dangerous, Donald told me to wait for you here...Hey, wait, don’t go!"

His voice of restraint was left far behind as I rushed forward, only wanting to ensure Donald’s safety.

Sant Angelo truly deserved its reputation as the most luxurious hotel in Lilo Sea. Its sprawling grounds were part of the reason why we were split into two battlefields.

The night breeze from the sea carried the stench of blood, and when Gino and I led the rest of the group to the rooftop, the battle was nearing its end.

I surveyed all those on the rooftop, returned to human form, and, holding a gun, slowly approached. The first to notice my arrival was Benjamin slumped on the ground, his face covered in bloodstains and dust. Even he seemed surprised to see me, "Lycan Queen, how did you come here? Didn’t Gino protect you well?"

I ignored Benjamin’s surprise and questions, directly asking, "Where’s Donald? Why did you suddenly change the battlefield, and why did no one inform me?"

At this, Benjamin stared at me in a daze. I furrowed my brows and continued, "That’s not important, where is he?"

The disheveled Medical Practitioner obviously knew whom I was asking about. He pointed to a spot not far off, surrounded by a crowd, and briefly answered, "Henry is like a madman, completely out of his mind. His Majesty is engaging with him trying to capture him personally! His subordinates are desperate felons, Your Highness, be careful if you go over there!"

I nodded at Benjamin, signaling that I understood, "You be careful too. Look after the other wounded here; we’ll be back soon."

As my gaze stayed fixed in that direction, a silver-white figure suddenly appeared in my peripheral vision—it was Wolf!

With a ’snap,’ the silver wolf was brutally slammed to the ground, and the dark wolf immediately lunged forward, its jaws wide open, aiming for Wolf’s neck.

I was stunned and yelled hoarsely, "Be careful, Donald!"

But all that answered me were the clouds of dust on the ground and the agonizing cry from Donald that pierced my heart!

I rushed forward, my hand holding the gun trembling nonstop. I wanted to shoot to cover Donald, but as I watched the two wolves, rapidly entangled and biting in the midst of the fray, my reaction quickly became the same as that of Elliot and those nearby.

As it turned out, the Lycans surrounding the edge of the battle were not unwilling to help; in such a brawl, nobody could lend a hand!

Their entwined bodies were too close; I dared not fire, afraid of hitting Donald by mistake, and so did Elliot.

He glanced at me, distractedly asking, "Are you alright, Your Highness? We were too late to fetch you and had to entrust Mr. Gino to keep you safe on the first floor. Are you okay?"

I shook my head, my nerves stretched tight, forcing myself to quickly calm down, "I’m fine. Tell me what’s happened so far!"
