Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 297: Lost contact with people
[Margaret’s POV]
Although Henry verbally criticized Donald for his lack of compassion, he still ended up doing a lot of things in the afternoon.
By around 5 p.m., as I looked at the chat interface on my phone, chatting with Elizabeth, and the text I had sent two hours ago asking where they had arrived, which seemed to have disappeared into the void, a sense of unease slowly began to surface in my heart.
I raised my hand and pressed against my suddenly twitching and tightening heart, then casually dialed Elizabeth’s number...
But even after the ringing tone in the phone had finished playing, Elizabeth still did not answer my call. I frowned and pressed the end call button, trying to use the mind-link to contact Elizabeth and Armstrong!
[Elizabeth, where are you right now? Why aren’t you returning my messages and calls?]
[Armstrong, are you with Elizabeth right now? Where are you?]
Just like when I tried to contact them on the phone half a minute ago, there was still no response from Elizabeth and Armstrong.
I clenched my phone, wanting to go to the palace next door and discuss this matter with Donald, but I had barely reached the doorway when Nora and Fran stormed in so suddenly that I nearly got knocked to the ground!
"Oh my goodness! Margaret, are you okay? Your dad and I didn’t hit you, did we?" Nora had just stepped into the room when she saw me almost falling backward, so she asked anxiously.
Frantz initially looked irritated, but after seeing me, he gave me a surprised glance, his eyes also conveying a worried inquiry.
I was actually just a bit startled, my instinctive aversion reflex hadn’t caused me any harm.
I gently shook my head and calmly answered Nora, "I’m fine, Mom! Shouldn’t you and Dad be resting in your room, preparing for dinner later? Why are you suddenly here, looking so frantic?"
As I spoke, I also glanced sideways at Frantz, a flicker of different emotions crossing my mind.
"Your sister and Armstrong have been out of contact for the whole afternoon! It’s one thing for you not to notice, but you’re still thinking about dinner later? How can you be such a cold and heartless sister? Margaret, you’ve truly disappointed me so much!"
Before Nora could say anything to me, Frantz, who was beside her, already snapped at me furiously, turning on me in record time!
I turned to look at Frantz, my brows tightly knitted together.
I took a deep breath, holding back my helplessness and disappointment, and asked Nora, "What time did you last get in touch with Elizabeth? Let me see if it matches up with the time on my end."
Nora shot Frantz an irritated look but didn’t speak up for me; instead, she turned to me with a hint of apology, "It was at 10 o’clock this morning, I asked when she and Armstrong would arrive in Royal City."
"She said they should arrive by 4 p.m., but now it’s already 5 o’clock, and we still haven’t seen them. We can’t reach them through mind-link or phones!"
"What on Earth is going on? Elizabeth never fails to return my messages; could they have had an accident?"
Listening to Nora’s frantic and worried questions, I quickly reviewed the chat history with Elizabeth.
The last message from Elizabeth was at 12:04 p.m.!
That means when Nora called Elizabeth, the people of the Silver Moon Pack must have still been on their way normally, and they lost contact after noon, after Elizabeth sent me that text.
But that heavy feeling in my heart didn’t ease at all. I took a deep breath, turned to Nora and Frantz, and explained, "Before you came in, I had just confirmed the fact that Elizabeth and Armstrong’s group had lost contact. I was just going to find Donald to discuss this matter. Now that you’re here, let’s go together to talk to him." 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Nora, her expression one of urgent concern, listened to my words as if she had finally found a solid pillar to lean on, taking a very subtle deep breath, and then she seemed to realize something...
She looked up at me, her eyes filled with a mixture of questions and guilt, "So you were about to leave this room because you’d also found out about this?"
Hearing this, I couldn’t help but look at Nora with a touch of resignation, and then at Frantz, whose complexion was now flushed with embarrassment, finally realizing that he had lashed out at me without understanding the situation.
"Elizabeth is my sister, too. My concern for her is no less than that of you and Dad. So there’s really no need for you to accuse me so hastily..."
