Chapter 216: Their differences

[Margaret’s POV]

Donald eventually did not allow me to skip dinner, despite my weariness.

I leaned on him, slowly chewing the food in my mouth, listening as he talked about the day’s meeting and the plans for Elliot, "Christian gained a lot from chasing the enemy. We have also uncovered several of the werewolves’ hideouts. We will launch a proactive attack tomorrow night."

"As long as we can crush these remnants, they will clearly know that the Wolf Royal Family and the Silver Moon Pack are not to be coveted."

"I also hope to capture a few of their useful little leaders alive. That way, we can get a better understanding of the enemy behind the scenes. Elliot’s condition can’t wait much longer, I must quickly resolve these minor battles and return to the Palace with you and him."

It turned out Donald did not intend to split his forces. The situation was unstable, and the distance from the Silver Moon Pack to the Werewolf Palace was not short. No one knew if the enemy might cause some other chaos along the way.

Elliot’s condition was poor, and he couldn’t endure any further shocks. Our Lycan Army also needed to maintain some forces at the Silver Moon Pack for safety measures, so Donald’s men were truly stretched thin.

This was why Donald was eager to settle the battle situation and return with the main force. He wanted to bring back me and the severely injured Elliot and beautifully handle everything that might occur.

"The Lycans of the assault team have also been somewhat downcast these past few days. I need a new leader to change this situation. If only Elliot’s injuries weren’t so severe," he said, reaching up to pinch the bridge of his nose, a look of fatigue on his face.

Donald’s deep sigh brought my thoughts back. I set down my utensils and looked at him, offering a comforting kiss on his lips before I asked with concern, "Does everyone have deep feelings for Angel? Angel, she... "

"Why would she do such a thing? It wasn’t just because of my words, she didn’t have to betray the entire Wolf Royal Family. She’s so resolute and merciless, isn’t she afraid she might regret this in the future? Elliot is still her cousin, and he treated her so well. How could she bear to be so harsh?"

I spoke and slowly frowned, truly unable to understand this woman’s thoughts.

Donald, twirling a strand of my hair with his fingers, remained silent in thought, "You’re right. For Angel to betray the Royal Family and her clan so desperately, our hidden enemy behind the scenes must have offered her a large incentive. What could both sides possibly be trading? Now, that’s an interesting question."

Speaking of Angel’s dealings with the enemy reminded me of a person Elizabeth had mentioned, or more specifically, someone whose identity wasn’t clear—’MASTER’!

"Do you know ’MASTER’?" I asked Donald.

"’MASTER’? Is that a person’s name? Where did you hear it?" Donald looked at me intently, his tone full of inquiry.

I shook my head in response, "I don’t know who or what it is. It’s something Elizabeth heard during an argument between Angel and some werewolves after Angel had abducted us. It seems to be very important to Angel."

Donald looked at me thoughtfully, and I exhaled, continuing, "This means that Angel and their relationship might not be entirely harmonious. They have disputes, which at least shows that there are disagreements and tangles in their interests or stances. Maybe we can use this to our advantage later."

My voice grew more serious as I spoke, and my grip on Donald tightened. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Donald listened quietly until I finished. His expression grew more solemn, "This is indeed very important information. What else do you know? Tell me everything now."

"I only heard about it from Elizabeth, I didn’t personally hear Angel arguing with those people. Since this is so important, let’s go ask Elizabeth more about it tomorrow," I suggested.

It was already very late. Apart from this, there didn’t seem to be any other good ideas. Donald nodded in agreement, looking at me he whispered, "Are you done with dinner? Let’s go back to the room."

I looked at him skeptically for a moment before plaintively whining, "I can’t, Donald. We already did it many times in the bathroom just now. Spare me this time! We’ve got a lot to do tomorrow, and you need more sleep... ah!"

Donald dismissively refused my plea, scooping me up around my waist without delay.

He started moving toward the room. I helplessly hit his shoulder. My eyes sparkled with a hint of protest and dissatisfaction, but Donald just calmly smiled, seemingly oblivious.
