Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 204: Elliot on the Run
[Angel’s POV]
Having my inner thoughts bluntly exposed, Arthur’s face grew angry, but he still retained some semblance of reason.
He glanced at me and spat out a sneer with malice, "You don’t think you’re still some lofty Lycan commander, do you? You have betrayed your pack and your beliefs, and you’re a traitor and a disgrace to the Wolf Royal Family. How can you still be so proud?"
"Right now, you’re just like everyone else here; nothing more than the master’s subordinate and slave. So, could you stop being so pretentious? This is the last piece of advice I’ll give you as a comrade."
As Arthur spoke, it seemed as if he regained his sanity; he sarcastically watched me while waving his hand to signal the Lycans beside him to follow his pace.
Arthur left with his men from the edge of the forest, and I stood there, pondering over his baffling words.
What does ’I’m just like them’ mean? My relationship with the MASTER is an equal partnership, not at all like these people.
What does ’the last piece of advice’ mean? This man must be truly insane.
And most importantly, what does ’the master will meet with you, but not just yet’ mean?
Damned MASTER had just asked me to pull back and then disappeared; I’ve tried calling him several times through the mind-link, but he hasn’t responded.
I cursed him internally for his elusive actions, yet I feared he might be planning something I was unaware of!
"Damn it!"
I found myself cursing aloud as I thought, and at that moment, Chris also spoke, "Angel! What should we do now?"
"Our brothers are hurt; we need a secure environment to heal and rest, and those Lycans Elliot brought are not easy to deal with."
"Let’s go to the other side of the plain; I know Arthur’s men had previously camped there. It can accommodate our people."
After I responded, I looked up at Chris, thinking about the people he mentioned, and then continued, "Keep a close eye on the severely injured and unconscious Elliot; he’s of great use to us."
Perhaps the Moon goddess likes to jest with me because, just as I was instructing Chris, a cry of alarm suddenly rang out within our small group of six Lycans!
"Bad news, Angel! Elliot has just escaped amidst the chaos!"
"What? Hasn’t he been unconscious the whole time?"
"What did you say?"
Chris and I almost simultaneously expressed our dissatisfied questions, and the Lycan we were staring at involuntarily shivered, repeating the fact he had just discovered in a trembling voice.
Looking at the broken chain he handed over, my gloomy eyes flashed with resentment and frustration, yet I had to accept the fact that Elliot, my own cousin, had escaped.
"How could you let a severely injured and unconscious man escape when you’re all gathered together? What have you all been doing? Are you all blind, all useless?"
I furiously glared at the people around me, feeling a sense of defeat I had never experienced before. I even began to doubt myself as today nothing seemed to go right.

The forest was much larger than I had imagined; I wandered around for a long time, so long that I thought I might actually die in here.
I’ve always known I’m no match for Angel, but protecting Miss Margaret and Luna Elizabeth was a task given to me by his majesty, and I would rather die in battle than fail his trust.
In the end, Angel didn’t lay a hand on me to kill me directly; fratricide is a real taboo in our family, and perhaps she was still mindful of this, thus sparing me.
I know this might not be the only rational explanation, but it’s all I can do to comfort myself, as if this thought could prove there’s still some bond and connection between us.
We’re cousins, yet I have feelings for her.
This forbidden love has tormented me all this while, and I detest the inextricable connection between us.
But at this moment, I can’t help but be grateful for this bond of kinship because of that very word ’cousin’, Angel spared my life. It’s incredibly ironic and absurd.
I leaned against a large tree, clutching my heavy heart as I gasped for breath; my injuries were severe, and making it to this spot from the edge of the forest was already my limit.
I don’t know how the front-line battle is going for his majesty, nor do I know if I have completed my task.
Thinking of Angel’s relentless nature, I guessed she wouldn’t easily let go of Miss Margaret or Luna Elizabeth of the Silver Moon Pack.
Miss Margaret must be in a dangerous situation right now, but at this moment, I really can’t attend to others.
Barely managing, I rummaged through my pocket and fortunately found a signal flare, a special communication device used by our assault team to verify the location of our allies. I activated it, hoping the assault team would find it before Angel could locate me again.
