A Wrong Surrogate for the CEO-Chapter 136: Her third marriage
Curtis couldn’t take his eyes off his wife. Despite all that has happened. A lot has happened in his life. He glanced at Lara sleeping peacefully. He’d never expected that he would one day fall in love with her but here he was, head over heels over his woman.
Love doesn’t seem to exist to him anymore. When his fiancé left him at the altar and walked away with his friend. The shame, the humiliation and the lies that circulated the social media at the time, made him take such rash decisions.
If love meant rejection and betrayal, then it wasn’t worth it. His heart became stone cold, harder than an icepack. He shut love and anything feminine away from his life but fate had still left him with a means of a happy ending.
After the betrayal, he didn’t have any friends again besides his bodyguard Lazarus Doe. If his woman betrayed him, should it be with his own friend?
The betrayal that comes from both fiance and a best friend can never be forgotten and he’d never forgotten about what those duo did to me. And the lies, they spread, they will pay for it. He is married now, but he’ll ensure that they pay for it.
He climbed out of the bed, took a shower and strode to his study. He hadn’t been so hooked up with work like he used to be before. There were other things that took his attention, worthy things though.
He worked briefly before returning to the bedroom. As soon as he laid his head against the pillow, he drifted off to sleep. It was a peaceful rest as he woke up the next morning to his phone ringing.
Curtis yawned groggily and wondered who wouldn’t let the darkness melt away by dawn before calling him. But as soon as he opened his eyes, he shut them back quickly. The ray of light coming from the window blinds rushed into his eyes.
Gently he opened them halfway this time and took his phone from its stand. It’s a call from his mom and he answered it "mom," he said barely above a whisper. Why is mom calling him so early?
"I’m happy to be the first person that calls you the morning after your wedding. Congratulations son" Lisa chimed. Curtis was still sleeping at such a time? It could only mean one thing, his sleep was sweet.
"Thanks mom" Curtis appreciated and raised him properly. He glanced at his side and his wife wasn’t there. Lara is a naughty woman, how dare she get out of bed before him?
"Quickly freshen up and come downstairs. We all are waiting to share breakfast with you and your new bride" Lisa chimed and Curtis eyes opened wider.
His mom was in the house already?
Lara must have played him so well to have left him still sleeping. For this that she had done, he would torture her for being naughty.
"You’re here mom?" Curtis asked and almost immediately regretted it. Of course she’s in the house, how else would she have told him to freshen up and come downstairs.
Not waiting for his mom’s response, he hung up and stepped out of bed. He glanced at himself in the mirror and saw a certain part of him hard and erect like it usually was, every other morning.
If Lara was still asleep beside him, he sure would have helped himself by burying his hardness into her. Strolling into the bathroom, he adjusted the water temperature and opened the shower on himself.
In the kitchen, Laura had gotten the dishes and brought them to the dinning. Lara wanted to help but Lisa will not just let her raise a thing with her little finger "Sit back, you’re a new bride"
Lara had smiled while rocking Amelia in her arms. This isn’t her first time getting married but this is definitely the first time being treated like a princess. This is her second marriage but obviously the third time getting married.
The first one was with Mike and the second was with Curtis, a contract one that they parted from the bureau and she went to live in the annex villa with her still flat belly.
And this third time, it’s with Curtis again. This one was better than anyone she’d had in the past. She prayed secretly that the love between her and Curtis never go sour.
"I’m hiring employees to come and work in this villa. My grandkids need a nanny, one each, a cook and two other employees who run errands for you and serve you coffee" Lisa declared.
How was Curtis and his wife able to cope after Benny left. She was the reason why that old woman lost her job and was jailed for some time, it’s all because of her.
"No mother, we’re coping well. I don’t really think I need any employees..." Lara was protesting when Curtis interrupted her, "On the contrary I have made arrangements for the new employees to resume when we are back from our honeymoon" he intercepted her.
Lara turned abruptly in the direction where his voice was coming from and saw him standing at the penultimate stair and staring at her.
Lara sighed softly, there’s no way arguing with this husband of hers would help matters, his thinking was on the same page with his mom. She pouted her lips helplessly.
"And I think Mom and Curtis are right. I won’t let you wear yourself out, busy with the twins and then preparing to cook and doing the never ending house chores. So it’s a three against one"Laura added.
"I accept defeat, what other options do I have?" Lara surrounded helplessly. She kept her gaze on Curtis who descended the stairs and walked over to her.
Stroking Amelia’s chin, he planted a light kiss on Lara’s lips. Little Amelia blabbed, her face brightened up and those actions amused her parents.
"Even Amelia knows, loving you was the best choice I’ve ever made" Curtis chimed, kissing her again. He couldn’t get enough of her and it seemed like he’d never experienced what love was except with Lara.
"And you’re the best thing that ever happened to me" Lara responded, her eyes welled up with tears.
"May your love for each other keep growing, I give you both my blessings over and over forever" Lisa said standing by the sidelines and seeing how much this couple love each other.
Lara’s eyes locked with Lisa’s and at the same time, their tears cascaded down her cheeks.
