A Writer's Transmigration into the world of fantasy-Chapter 92
The destructive music of Karna not only broke the barrier that kept him imprisoned, but the entire region started shaking violently.
The demons/asuras couldn't keep their feet stably and were trying their best not fall on the ground. Meanwhile, Shukracharya panicked a little bit. "This brat is more troublesome than I expected him to be. I shouldn't have given him such freedom."
He raised his staff and quickly pointed at Karna, who was so engrossed in playing the music that he stopped paying attention to his surroundings long ago.
Soon, a stream of energy shot toward the 15-year-old, but the latter's divine energy formed a barrier in the form of a wall and blocked his attack.
Guru Shukracharya was shocked, "My strike… failed? Impossible. A child should not withstand me.
He became serious and attacked Karna's defensive barrier once again.
As it failed for the second time, he got angered and went on chanting some mystical mantra. Once he was finished, a spear appeared in his hands, and he threw the divine weapon.
This time, Karna's divine energy couldn't block it and was destroyed. The spear went on piercing Karna in the chest, forcing him to come back to his senses.
The 15-year-old flew into the air and crashed into the wall of the cave. He spat out a mouthful of blood.
The veena slipped from his fingers. The raga died mid-breath. Then darkness rushed in.
As the music stopped, the ground stopped shaking, and everything returned to normal in Patala Loka.
However, Shukracharya's face doesn't look good. He pointed at Karna, "Bring him to me."
The two demons behind him who were on the ground quickly rose to their feet and rushed forward.
They brought back the heavily injured Karna to him, and the guru of the asuras proceeded to use his Sanjeevani technique. "Stubborn child. Your energy fights even in sleep. But it will serve me soon enough."
Even though Karna's injuries appeared to be serious, Shukracharya healed him with ease and ordered the subordinates to look after him as he went on preparing with the ritual.
"Since the kid was uncooperative, we will do it while he is unconscious." Shukracharya then ordered his subordinates to bring the beast from the adjacent cell to him.
Meanwhile, at Mt. Kailasa;
Lord Shiva was in deep meditation as usual. But this time, his concentration was distracted by the scene he saw in Patala loka. At first, he didn't bother to interfere as he wanted to see where this led.
But then, as Karna was struck by a divine astra of Shukracharya, he was forced to open his eyes and shouted in a bit of anger, "Nandi…"
The divine bull was summoned in front of Lord Shiva, and the latter quickly gave an order, "Go to Patala loka and save Karna. Bring him and the baby divine beast here. Also, tell Shukracharya to appear before me…"
Nandi bowed and disappeared. He started his journey toward the netherworld, where the ritual was going on.
Back in Patalaloka;
An unconscious Karna and a horse-looking beast bound by an energy rope were in the ritual circle, and their respective divine energies were being extracted slowly and going into some sort of a pot.
In the midst of the ritual, Karna stirred awake, not much but just a little bit.
His eyes captured the blue creature with horns sprouting from its back. That… that thing… it's here… It's the same thing. Horror stirred faintly in his chest, remembering the strange visions he was having for years, about this beast, but in giant form that was destroying the heaven. However, before he could open his mouth, the darkness pulled him under again.
Nearly 18 hours later, the process was done, and all of the required energy was collected from his body, turning him pale.
Soon, a statue of a demon with a crocodile head was brought to the location, and ignoring those two on the ground, Shukracharya went on pouring the divine energy into the statue while giving it life.
The demon comes to life, and Shukracharya laughed — loud, victorious, echoing through the cavern. "I did it… hahahaha… I was successful! The destroyer is born!"
The demon flexed its claws and bowed low. Its voice rumbled like grinding stone. "What is my life's goal, my creator?"
"Your enemies are devas. Your goal is to dethrone Indra and make sure the Svarga Loka belongs to Asuras, oh mighty warrior. Hence, I name you Devavinashaka (Destroyer of Gods)."
As soon as the demon was named and his purpose in life was registered in his soul, the demon glowed in some sort of unique purple energy.
And just as the glow disappeared, the demon raised his hand and suddenly grabbed Shukracharya's throat, "You are a deva. You are my enemy."
Shukracharya's eyes widened in disbelief. "Leave… let… go…" For the first time in eons, fear crossed his face. For countless ages, asuras revered me… and now my own creation is attacking me?
However, he was helpless against the strength of the demon he created. And Devavinashaka raised his hand further.
As Shukracharya was flapping his legs, wondering how the situation had turned this worse when it was all under his control just a minute ago, it was at that moment the cavern shook again — not from music this time, but from thunderous hooves. Nandi burst through the wall with his eyes blazing in wrath
He doesn't know what Shukracharya has done. He only took it as a devotee of Lord Shiva was being attacked by a powerful asura. And now, when he saw the situation, his anger multiplied, watching Shukracharya, Lord Shiva's ardent devotee, being so helpless.
Maybe this powerful asura abducted Karna and is now trying to kill Shukracharya, as the latter came here to save the kid? The divine bull can only think this way due to his false perception and, of course, his simple nature.
Nandi let out a roar and rushed forward to save Shukracharya, a fellow devotee.
Maybe it is because Nandi isn't exactly a deva; the demon didn't look at him in hostility.
Only when Nandi's leg kicked him on his chest and blasted him away did the demon focus on the divine bull.
Nandi then transformed into his bull form and charged forward at the crocodile demon with all of his strength.
Shukracharya stood on the sidelines with a little bit of nervousness on his face, because if Nandi personally made the trip, it meant that this matter came to Lord Shiva's attention.
Hence, Shukracharya could only quietly watch the battle, although with a little bit of curiosity to see if the newly born Devavinashaka was powerful enough to defeat Nandi. Forget about defeating the divine bull, even if his newly created demon can contest against Nandi, then that would mean this Asura would have a lot of potential.
Even though Shukracharya was angry and also a bit afraid of his own creation that tried to kill him, it doesn't mean he would see its end. No. He would have to train the demon's mind and take him under his control.
But, never in the world did he expect to see the demon get blasted away in a simple head-on collision.
The moment they collided, Nandi stopped his tracks, and the demon crashed into the walls and fell into the pond, never to resurface again for a while.
Nandi then looked at Shukracharya, increasing his nervousness.
"Guru Shukracharya," Nandi then rumbled, voice like distant thunder rolling through stone. "Mahadeva summons you. Appear before him within one day."
He didn't know that Shukracharya was the one who abducted Karna. Seeing the demon attacking this teacher of the asuras, he thought that Shukracharya came here to save Karna just like him.
Hence, he was respectful toward Shukracharya until the end.
On the other hand, Shukracharya was completely nervous upon hearing that Lord Shiva was summoning him. As an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva, he cannot disobey the orders even of his imagination.
Shukracharya could only reply that he would return within a day of time, citing the excuse that he needed to take care of the rogue demon.
Nandi nodded and left with unconscious Karna, along with the divine beast that looked like a white horse but had a horn protruding from its forehead.
After Nandi leaps away with Karna and the beast, Shukracharya walks to the edge of the pond. The surface was still now. No movement. No purple glow. Shukracharya raised his staff once more.
A thin beam of light pierced the water, searching for the life. As for whether the demon is alive or not, it actually doesn't matter. His Sanjeevani technique can revive the demon, since the demon wasn't killed by any cosmic force belonging to Lord Vishnu or Lord Shiva's energies.
But fortunately for him, something stirred below, and a single violet eye opened beneath the surface.
Shukracharya exhaled when he captured that. "Alive… good."
He turned away with his face hardening. "Rest for now, my creation. When you rise again… the devas will tremble."
