A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods-Chapter 448: Antidote
Chapter 448: Antidote
There are lots of poisons existing around the world. Many poisons exist in normal things and some are being produced by plants while some animals and monsters uses poison as a defense mechanism to defend against attackers. As a result of various poisons, various antidotes are also produced to combat the dangerous effects of these poisons.
And now, Elaina is trying to create an antidote based on the recipe given to her by the Village Chief. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel-com
"It’s a bit fortunate that the ingredients are easy to find. But some of these are a bit annoying to get."
While most of the antidote ingredients are present on the farm, two items would be annoying to get. One is the Holy Basil, and the other is Chamomile. Currently, she has a few Holy Basil plants growing in the Dungeon farm, but she only planted a few as she primarily uses regular basil. As for Chamomile, it is a flower that usually blooms during spring and fall. Considering it is currently in the end of fall at the moment, there’s a chance that she will either not get any Chamomile from the shops who sells flowers or on farms.
"If I knew these things would be necessary, I would have planted a few this season," Elaina sighed.
As she was lamenting on how to find more of the necessary ingredients, the Grand Sage had been observing Elaina’s actions and had been bewildered by her reactions from time to time as she looked at the list in her hand.
"You seemed troubled, dear farmer. What are you looking at?" the Grand Sage asked as he approached.
"Oh, did you see me look like a fool just now? Sorry about that, I just didn’t expect some of the ingredients I needed for making an antidote to need a few ingredients I have few on hand, or I have no idea if it still has some stock."
"Alright, can you let me see that list?" the Grand Sage held his hand which Elaina responded by putting the list she was holding on his open palm.
He started reading the ingredients of the antidote and nodded. "Huh, so you are going to make Ice Antidote?"
"Ice Antidote?" Elaina frowned. This is the first time she has heard of an antidote that goes by that name.
"It’s the name of the result of that list’s ingredients. I have made it multiple times in the past. Didn’t think I would see it again, though. But why would you need this? This antidote only cures a specific type of poison that is only produced by a plant that sprays poison to people and animals that stings so bad, the longer you are exposed, the faster you freeze to death."
"Freeze to death?"
"Yes. Frozen poison. A kind of poison that lowers the temperature of the one that got inflicted by the poison and slowly freezes up. It spreads all over the body like a normal poison, but instead of the usual poison’s effects, one will instead feel the temperature of their body drop before their body freezes solid, and any attempts to unfreeze it or warm it up using fire will not work. Many mistakes it as freezing debuff only to realize too late that it was poison in disguise. Only the Ice Antidote can save that person."
Elaina heard it was poison, but she didn’t hear about the poison being brutal like that. Most poisons can be endured by those who have stronger bodies and have a stronger resistance. But a poison that slowly freezes one to death? That is hard to endure. Slowly but surely freezing while the energy feels like draining, which would end up difficult to move, no wonder the Village Chief warned her not to descend without the antidote at hand. If a plant is like that, then it is very dangerous indeed.
"But why do you need this? Are those pesky Icehell Spewers also around here?"
"No. But according to someone who has been to the place we will be going soon, there are plenty of plants that spew out poison, and an antidote is needed. We are going to need a lot."
"If that is the case, I still have a few leftover items I kept with me in case I have to make more of that antidote myself. Considering I am staying here on your farm and I don’t see any of those pesky plants myself, I don’t think hoarding them would do me good. It is best to be given to those who need it. Let me guess, you are looking for Holy Basil or perhaps the Chamomile, yes? I have them with me, but they are dried-up version. Of course, they can still be used."
Hearing this, Elaina’s eyes lit up. "Really? If that is the case, I shall buy it from you!"
The Grand Sage shook his head. "It’s fine, really. Besides, since we are all living in the same land, isn’t it normal to help each other out? Thanks to your farm, I am conducting my observations and some interesting discoveries just by staying here instead of risking my life out in the unknown world. If that safety and knowledge I earned are for free, then perhaps these small ingredients you need can be considered as payment then?"
Elaina scratches her head. "Are you sure? I mean, you gathered these yourself, surely they cost something."
"Don’t worry about it. Think of it as some sort of payment for letting me stay here on the farm without worries. I can even add the procedure and tips to make the potion more effective, or be used normally, or by applying it directly."
"Of course!"
And so, thanks to the Grand Sage, the antidote she needed is complete. Due to the help she received from him, not only did she gain knowledge on how to make the potion properly, but the knowledge on how to deal with the Icehell Spewers as well. If she and her children plan to descend the mines to obtain that ore, then learning about the enemy and the surrounding areas will work wonders for Elaina.
Thanks to creating the antidote as well, the Mastery for Medicine, making for the Goddess of Medicine, also increased, allowing Elaina to increase the potency of the medicines she creates in the future.
Now that the antidote is ready, they are also ready to descend much deeper into the mines. Little did Elaina know that aside from getting the item they needed, her son, Raye, would be meeting someone he would not expect to meet soon.

...
On an unknown land.
The sleeping Selena woke up, gasping for air. As soon as she gets to sit on her bed, she looks around, starts to calm herself down as she processes what was going on. She remembered that she was hit by an explosion on the ship during the war against the Darcero Kingdom and blacked out after that.
She was quite sure that she have died by then so when she woke up, she started pinching herself.
"...ouch. It still hurts which means I didn’t die."
She ruffled her hair and is not sure on what is happening. Her mind is confused and she can’t fill in the blanks on what happened after she black out. And where was she even anyways?
Before she can leave the bed, the door to her room opens and a man so handsome that Alfred, whom she viewed as the most handsome man she had ever seen before ,has been dethroned by this man who just entered. His black hair was so silky and long that one would mistake it was a wig, though it doesn’t look like it. Not only that, but the man’s topless body is quite built that he looks like he has been working out a lot, and his figure is like it was being chiseled out by a skilled sculptor. Every man she knows would feel ashamed looking at this man before him.
"It seems you are finally awake, Your Highness Selena."
Selena’s eyes went wide when she recognized the voice of the man before her. The veiled Pope, who always hides his face, has never shown his face to anyone ever before. But Selena couldn’t forget his voice. So when she recognized his voice, she frowned and looked at the person before her.
"Wait, are you the Pope from before?" she asked, still frowning.
The man smiled at him. "Of course, do you not remember me? Perhaps it was the side effect for sleeping too long. Guess my magic spell was a little bit too much for you."
Never in Selena’s eyes would she expect that the person behind the veiled face of the pope would be hiding someone who she might even consider as the most attractive man ever known to man. But before she continue to thirst over this man, she decided to ask the man.
"Uh sleeping too much? What do you mean?"
"Ah, right. Of course, you are unconscious for so long, how could you know? Anyways, after you and I survived the war against Darcero Kingdom, we escaped. You and I are the only survivors. I thought you died, but you are still alive, and so I saved you. But you ended up sleeping for a month and a half and woke up just today."
