A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods-Chapter 437: Alfred Visits

Mornings in Elaina’s farm is always pleasant as the air is always fresh. Even though they are not roosters or chickens in normal sense, the Hencluckles are doing the crowing job. Not only that but due to the nearby tree that is full of honey from the bees, the sweet smell of honey also permeates the air making the surroundings quite nice to the nose.

Elaina’s mornings start very early. Before she began her work, Elaina would train her two kids on using the proper way of sword with Princess Tabatha. This is the only free time Princess Tabatha has at the moment and so she uses the time Elaina wakes up early to train the sword. And since both Raye and Arthur are also practicing the sword, Elaina sometimes makes them fight one another to help rack up the experience. Considering both boys are quite fast in learning Elaina’s teachings, it didn’t take too long for them to pick up the pace and slowly be on par with Princess Tabatha.

"Great job kids, you too, Princess. Your swordsmanship is faster and your movements are starting to get more fluid as time goes on," Elaina praised Princess Tabatha.

"Haha, not as much as your kids. Honestly, I am surprised that they are already capable of moving that well to the point that I won’t believe if someone said that they have yet to reach a year practicing the sword."

Raye grinned. "You are praising us too much, Princess! Even with my tactics, I still couldn’t defeat you in a spar so I don’t think the praise is worth it for us."

"Yeah, even though we improve, she still managed to kick our butts. Ow, my butt still stings a bit," Arthur said while also rubbing his butt after getting his defeat from the princess.

"It won’t take too long before you kids would surpass me in skills. But I will also keep improving myself as to ensure that I won’t be left behind by the two of you," Princess Margaux smiled and the boys and the Princess made a fist bump.

"How about we have some breakfast today, Princess? While you guys have been sparring, I already cooked breakfast," Elaina offered.

"Thanks for the offer, Master, but I will decline for now and do it next time. I will be busy with some work today and I have to urgently do it. There are some things that I have to do in the palace so I can’t spend more time away from work. Perhaps next time, Master."

"If that is the case, then I will just give you your portion of the food packed up. Even if you won’t be eating here, that doesn’t mean you can’t eat what I cooked for you."

"Then I will trouble you, Master."

Elaina smiled and returned to the kitchen to pack a lunch box for Princess Tabatha. When she was done, she went outside and was ready to go and give the lunch to the Princess when Elaina noticed the person that Princess Tabatha was talking with. Arthur turned to Elaina and approached her.

"Mom, it looks like Dad decided to visit."

The person who is talking to Princess Tabatha is none other than Alfred who has changed over the past few years. After he decided to exile himself and never return as the emperor, he became a mercenary and an adventurer who works for various guilds but mostly for Grandpa and Grandma’s orders as a way of repentance for what he did to the marriage he had for Elaina and for cheating which in reality, was not even his fault and has been manipulated by the pope.

Although Alfred has been absent for quite some time during the growth of the children after he recovered from the brainwashing and manipulation, he started to mend the broken relationship he had with his twins and although their relationship is not that bad, they are not totally close. Alfred perfectly understood as he is also making sure that he isn’t too distant from his children but not also to the point that he wants to return as an actual father for them. He gives money as an act of "financial support" for them and hangs out with them, but he never asks for them to leave Elaina and instead switch to him. Instead, he wanted the two of them to remain in Elaina as he wasn’t worthy to be considered a good father.

Princess Tabatha noticed that Elaina had already returned and smiled at her.

"Master, it seems you have an important visitor. I don’t think I will be further cause trouble for you. See you tomorrow!"

"Don’t forget the lunch box. You can return it tomorrow."

"Thanks, Master!"

After Princess Tabatha’s departure, Elaina let Alfred inside the gates and the two started speaking. The two boys left the two to talk and are waiting with Adelaide in the kitchen.

"Looks like you have been so busy these past two years," Elaina said as they headed to the stream’s bench.

"Yeah. Had to accept a mission to Bernel Kingdom and had to stay there for quite some time. I was supposed to be back a lot sooner but after the confirmation of war on Luminiera Kingdom and Darcero Kingdom, my return was delayed further."

"Pretty understandable. So, are you here to hang out with your children like always?" Elaina asked.

"Pretty tempting but not this time. I was here because I needed to talk to you. And for clarification, this isn’t about our broken marriage or anything like that. This is different and it is related to our children."

"Related to our children?" Elaina frowned.

"Yeah. You see, after I broke out of the brainwashing, I started investigating the reason the Pope and the church are against the twins so much to the point that they would directly kill them just so they can steer clear from them."

"The one rule they have about twins being a spawn of heretics and the one who will bring the fall?" Elaina tried to confirm it.

"Yes. You still remember it. Well, not too long ago, I received intel regarding this reason, and quickly made me think of you and our children."

"What do you mean?" Elaina frowned.

"It seems the Pope has received precognition and a few premonitions related to his downfall and death. Although I am not sure if death is actually included, it seems that it might be true as he started to hunt the twins after that point."

"A premonition?"

"Yes. The premonition mentioned his demise in the hands of twins who are born under the care of who will become an important pillar that will bring down his downfall to the masses. His deeds will be revealed and he will be revealed to be a fallen god and he will be delivered with divine punishment."

"Alright...so why would you think about me and our kids with this premonition?" Elaina frowned, not understanding what Alfred meant.

"I heard not too long ago that your work helped the Army of Darcero Kingdom flip the tide and win the battle against Luminiera Kingdom. Not only that but as a result of your actions, the Pope and your sister have been missing ever since. You might not have contributed much but you are actually the "pillar" that allowed the Pope to be defeated in the first place."

"Isn’t that a bit farfetched?"

"A bit. But let’s not forget about the situation, Elaina. You are the Mother of the twins who managed to escape the rule of the Pope and evade the execution protocol they always do. I think there is a chance that both Adelaide and Arthur might be the ones who will kill the fallen god and put an end to everything he built up."
