A second chance with my billionaire husband-Chapter 1492 - 288: Watching and Waiting, Singing in Unison (Part 7)
As she walked, she admired the wonders of nature and ran into Su Yu.
"Sixth Aunt."
"Indeed, when people are happy, they look more spirited. Now that you’re engaged, Yun Ya, you look much better, truly more beautiful than flowers. It makes me wish I were a few decades younger," Su Yu teased.
"Please don’t tease me, Sixth Aunt," Yun Ya said, shyly lowering her eyes. Su Yu took her hand and said, "What’s there to be shy about? I heard from Third Sister-in-law that as soon as you both turn twenty, they’re planning to register your marriage. That’s just a couple of years away, or are you saying you can’t even wait that long?"
Recently, many things had happened at home, and it felt like a heavy stone was pressing on Su Yu’s heart, making it hard to breathe. Now, with Yun Ya and Ah Song’s happy event, it was like a ray of sunshine breaking through the clouds, allowing her to finally breathe a sigh of relief.
At this moment, Meng Shujing hurriedly returned with Yan Xing, barely acknowledging them before rushing into Rongju Garden.
Yan Xing’s eyes were red, clearly from crying, and she didn’t have time to greet Yun Ya before Meng Shujing whisked her away.
Seeing their expressions, it was obvious something had happened. Yun Ya and Su Yu exchanged a glance and quickly followed them.
"Old Master, you really have to stand up for Jinjin. You wouldn’t believe the life she’s leading now. That Wei family member is a scoundrel, ganging up with his old mother and mistress to bully Jinjin. Poor Jinjin, all alone with a child, she’s wasted away to nothing. Isn’t she your great-granddaughter? When she was little, you adored her the most..."
From afar, Yun Ya heard Meng Shujing’s cries, truly heart-wrenching. So, Yan Jin’s marriage wasn’t happy either. It seemed Meng Shujing still didn’t know about Yan Hua’s situation. After one blow after another, could she bear it all?
The old man sighed, "Where is she?" 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Meng Shujing immediately pushed Yan Xing: "Quick, bring your big sister over."
Back then, Yan Jin had been struck from the family register and driven out of the Yan Family by Lu Yuke after defying her. She ruled the household then, and no one dared say a word against her. Although Meng Shujing protested, it ultimately came to nothing. Later, knowing Yan Jin made a decent life abroad, she gradually let it go.
But this daughter always reported the good news and not the bad. If Meng Shujing hadn’t gone to her in person, she’d never have known what plight her daughter was in. Thinking about it now, her anger still flared, wishing she could tear the Wei family to pieces and feed them to the dogs.
She decided to bring Yan Jin back from abroad herself. With Lu Yuke gone, as long as the old master spoke, Yan Jin could still be the young lady of the Yan Family.
Yun Ya saw Yan Xing leading over a frail woman, so thin she was all skin and bones, resembling a walking skeleton from afar, shockingly thin.
Beside the woman was a child, equally frail, the two of them looking like refugees from a camp.
Su Yu covered her mouth, disbelief plain in her voice, "How did Jinjin become like this?"
When she first married into the Yan Family, Yan Jin wasn’t married yet. Yan Jin was beautiful and had a spirited personality, very endearing. Being the first of the great-grandchildren, the old master had doted on her the most, and she had grown into a stunning young woman.
In her memory, Yan Jin was proud, radiant, and stubborn. Though seemingly easygoing, she dared to resist all oppression. This was evident when she risked exile from the family to defy an arranged marriage. What had such a vibrant woman gone through to become so depleted?
Up close, the woman appeared even more emaciated, her hair dull, face sallow, and eyes lifeless, merely following behind Yan Xing like a puppet.
Yet, the child at her feet had eyes darting around, full of spirit.
"Jinjin, it’s me, Sixth Aunt. Do you recognize me?" Su Yu, her eyes brimming with tears, walked over, increasingly sorrowful.
The woman’s eyes moved dully, looking at the person before her without focus, her dry lips mumbled, her voice hoarse like a parched well, "Sixth Aunt?"
"Yes, I am Sixth Aunt." Su Yu went over to hold her hand, finding the bones shockingly thin.
A flicker of dark light swiftly passed through the woman’s eyes behind the long hair, and Yun Ya sensed something was wrong, "Sixth Aunt, move away...."
Just as the words were out of her mouth, she had already rushed forward.
