A second chance with my billionaire husband-Chapter 1455 - 283: Accept Fate and Preserve Yourself (Part 5)
Yan Song kissed her forehead, "Okay, then you stay home tomorrow, and I’ll come back to accompany you after my mission."
Before dawn, Yan Song had already left.
Yun Ya got up at seven, the weather was getting warmer, but Yun Ya, afraid of the cold, was reluctant to take off her cotton clothes.
However, early in the morning, bad news arrived. Pei Xinyi committed suicide at the hotel last night. It was only discovered by the hotel staff in the middle of the night. The police investigated the scene and confirmed it was a suicide. There were no signs of struggle, she lay in the bathtub, having slit her wrists. The scene was extremely tragic.
She left a suicide note and a signed divorce agreement. The note stated that due to her grave sins, she felt guilty towards everyone, especially her daughter, and had no courage to continue living; hence she decided to commit suicide.
Yun Ya was stunned when she heard it, "Suicide?"
Ah Yun said, "Yes, the kitchen was buzzing with it early in the morning. They said she was found pregnant, poor child. But it figures, with something like this, I wouldn’t want to live either."
No matter how the world changes, the harshness towards women remains constant.
Yun Ya, however, felt it wasn’t that simple. Pei Xinyi didn’t seem like someone who would easily commit suicide. As Ah Yun was braiding her hair, Yun Ya tapped her fingers on the table and asked, "Miss, what are you thinking?"
"I’m going to see Aunt Zhuang." Ah Yun braided her hair on both sides, letting her long hair fall over her shoulders, making her appear charmingly gentle.
Yun Ya glanced at the mirror casually, got up, and went to find Zhuang Xiyue.
Zhuang Xiyue had just gotten up and smiled when she saw Yun Ya, "Why are you here so early?"
"Pei Xinyi is dead. Aunt Zhuang, did you know?"
Zhuang Xiyue sat in front of the dressing table, slowly combing her long hair, and smiled, "Yes, I knew."
Yun Ya asked, "How could she die just like that?"
"Of course, she was silenced. Pei Xinyi, in the end, was just a lackey for Pei Ying, knew many of her dirty secrets. If Pei Xinyi turned against her, she would be in trouble."
Yun Ya nodded, "That woman is too ruthless."
"Just wait, someone will deal with her eventually."
Zhuang Xiyue got up, walked over, and smiled, "Come with me to a banquet today. This outfit won’t do, I’ll have someone send a dress over later."
Yun Ya knew she had to integrate into this circle in the future, even if she didn’t like it, she had to go along with it, so she nodded in agreement, "Okay."
——
Yan Nanrong hurried to the funeral home to see her for the last time.
The woman’s face was stark white, her eyes slightly closed, forever asleep.
His steps suddenly halted, not daring to take another step forward. This must be a dream, surely not reality. He just spoke to her last night, he had already forgiven her, how could she...?
The police handed him a transparent bag containing the suicide note, divorce agreement, and the deceased’s phone, "These are all her belongings. The autopsy result shows the deceased died around eleven last night and was found to be four weeks pregnant. Please accept our condolences."
Yan Nanrong’s eyes trembled, he closed his eyes tightly, his expression pained.
Yan Nanrong took the items with trembling fingers, he didn’t look at them, but walked over to stand beside her, crouched down, his fingers tenderly caressing her cheek, the cold making his hands tremble, the chill spreading to his heart.
"You haven’t answered me, how can you die?" he said softly, his demeanor making the staff watching shudder.
"You can’t die." Suddenly, he hugged her tightly, as if holding a treasure lost and found, with a force that seemed to want to merge her into his bones and blood.
"Sir, it’s time, let her rest in peace." A staff member from the funeral home approached gently to remind him.
The man appeared not to have heard, maintaining his posture, motionless.
She was an orphan with no relatives. She died, and besides him, no one came to see her.
"I’m taking you home." He gritted his teeth, suddenly picked her up, turned, and left. The staff stopped him, "Sir, you can’t just take the body away."
"Get out of the way." Yan Nanrong kicked the person aside, carrying the body and strode off.
Yan Nanrong took her back to their home outside, a standalone two-story villa, beautifully landscaped, with a warmly elegant decor, "We’re home."
He laid her flat on the bed, dressed her in a beautiful new outfit, did her hair, trimmed her nails, the room with curtains drawn, ominously quiet, eerily so.
After doing all this, he lay down holding her, her body growing ever colder and stiffer in his arms. He didn’t know how long had passed when the doorbell rang outside, he awoke groggily, it was already dark, the room plunged in darkness.
